lemon so you think we should not have called Marr out for her foul remarks??

whitewave Tue 06-Feb-18 18:56:33

I read apart from Soubry there are a number of Tory MPs, one of whom reflected them all

“If they (the hard right loons) are threatening a leadership challenge, then this new leader will find himself in charge of a much smaller party, and will almost certainly crash the party.

'With respect, I think you have the numbers mixed up.
It was not £350m per week. Part of it was a rebate from the EU.
We give them £X pa and they give some of it back. I can't be definite as to the figures but £350m is incorrect.'..then maybe that was what should have been painted on the side of the big red bus#justsaying.....

Farage is dangerous. He has always been dangerous and he always will be dangerous because there are so many people in this country who believe in the vitriol that spouts forth from his mouth sad. And that terrifies me....

lemongrove Tue 06-Feb-18 19:12:51

Just because rags and the media use them whitewave doesn’t mean that supposedly mature women should.

whitewave Tue 06-Feb-18 19:28:08

I’m sure you are not really pompous lemon

jura can a politician be responsible for some of the extremists who think they will support him? I doubt that Rees-Mogg is a thug and I would think he is embarrassed by this person's approbation.
Likewise extremes on the left supporting Corbyn.

jura2 Tue 06-Feb-18 19:29:25

agreed jalima

jura2 Tue 06-Feb-18 19:30:16

Farage on the other hand ...

but Rees-Mogg is a lot more dangerous than a thug, I believe.

Jalima1108 Tue 06-Feb-18 19:31:17

What did we fight two world wars for?
I thought everyone knew the answers to that question.

whitewave Tue 06-Feb-18 19:32:50

Thugs don’t necessarily throw the actual punches, but they do employ people who do and wear Nazi regalia.

Jalima1108 Tue 06-Feb-18 19:33:11

As I recall from history (and I suspect that very few Gnetters were adult at the time of WW2, so not really speaking from 1st hand experience
Although some of us would probably have had parents with experience of both wars who mayh or may not have talked about it.

lemongrove Tue 06-Feb-18 19:33:59

hmm sigh!

maddyone Tue 06-Feb-18 19:34:17

Anyone who describes any of these politicians that are so reviled by some as fascists, clearly has a very poor understanding of fascism. Correct me if I’m wrong, but are any of them suggesting that a whole minority group should have their rights removed, including the right to be employed, to travel, to have a bank account, or to attend school? Are any of them suggesting that a whole minority group should be deported, or euthanised? It is clear to me that JRM, Farage, Trump, and others who are apparently reviled by many certainly cannot be described as fascist. Hitler was a fascist, and to the poster who asked why we fought WW2, it was to defeat a true fascist!

Jalima1108 Tue 06-Feb-18 19:34:42

Jalima With respect, I think you have the numbers mixed up.
I don't think so, I think it was Nige who got mixed up.

lemongrove Tue 06-Feb-18 19:36:01

I thought the first mention of Hitler or Nazis on political threads meant that poster had run out of reasonable things to say.

whitewave Tue 06-Feb-18 19:37:29

Similar to the communist/Marxist arguments lemon?

Jalima1108 Tue 06-Feb-18 19:41:27

Tegan I think that was too long a sentence to be painted on the side of a bus and it would have disappeared down the road before anyone had a chance to read it all ......

As for facism, the LP is treading a dangerous path with its overt anti-semitism is it not?

lemongrove Tue 06-Feb-18 19:43:05

No ww not similar at all.

lemongrove Tue 06-Feb-18 19:44:44

Maddyone you are spot on!
Do posters understand fascism at all I wonder?

jura2 Tue 06-Feb-18 19:54:28

anti zionism as nothing to do with anti semitism- at all.

whitewave Tue 06-Feb-18 20:00:02

I think I do lemon

W11girl Tue 06-Feb-18 20:04:37

I wouldn’t underestimate Farage. I am in no way a UKIP supporter. But Farage as an individual has his uses as remaining a thorn in the side for both the main political parties.

Jalima1108 Tue 06-Feb-18 20:05:33

I know jura but I stand by what I said.

whitewave Tue 06-Feb-18 20:06:32

No one underestimates Farage, far from it.
