"Making his pitch in front of a driverless car, Corbyn said Labour would negotiate “a new comprehensive UK-EU customs union” to prevent tariffs and a hard border in Northern Ireland. "
"In other words, Labour’s Britain would be a passenger, letting the likes of Jean-Claude Juncker and Michel Barnier drive our policy on trade. But Corbyn also said Labour wouldn’t accept a deal that left the UK “a passive recipient of rules”. He said any deal struck by Labour would need to ensure the UK has a say in future trade deals."
Oh well good luck with that Jezza!
You really think you could get Barnier and Juncker to agree to a bespoke 'have your cake and eat it' deal?
As has been pointed out, most Remainers see a victory - BUT they seem to forget Corbyn won't be doing the negotiating.
He can promise his drooling admirers the moon, but it's only words. (He likes to promise such a lot, doesn't he? It's going to be soooo costly should he ever become PM. Gird your loins taxpayers.
)
The driver-less cars were a good backdrop for him as he spoke yesterday. He would be happy to allow the EU to remain steering the UK just where it wants.
