A thread for all Corbyn lovers & haters

whitewave Mon 26-Mar-18 16:13:01

The other issue is that if someone is genuinely anti-Semite, aren’t they reported to the police?

I would certainly consider doing so.

Day6 Mon 26-Mar-18 16:13:20

Whitewave - No lemon you don’t remotely get it, neither do you apparently understand it.

What an arrogant and judgemental assertion!

So the only perspective is the hard left one? hmm

Come the revolution we will be told what to think then?

Primrose65 Mon 26-Mar-18 16:19:02

Thanks for posting those Jenb60 and welcome. I wouldn't describe Freedland's article as "utterly disgusting subliminal nastiness" but I suppose that's why I don't think Corbyn will deal with antisemitism - when he reads the evidence, he just dismisses it. I think Freedland hit the nail on the head for me. "Unwelcome external scrutiny" indeed.

durhamjen Mon 26-Mar-18 16:19:03

Never thought of whitewave as far left.

Primrose65 Mon 26-Mar-18 16:19:50

Day6 grin

We're already being told!

durhamjen Mon 26-Mar-18 16:20:01

Is that the far right perspective, primrose?

Baggs Mon 26-Mar-18 16:20:13

Even if that anti-Semitic person was only anti-Semitic in private, ww, e.g. if someone expressed what you regarded as anti-Semitism to you as part of a private conversation? Would you report them to the police then? If so, why? So long as they weren't publicly harming anyone why would it be necessary to police their beliefs, even wrong ones?

durhamjen Mon 26-Mar-18 16:24:48

Strange thing to ask, baggs.
In all my years I have never had anyone make antisemitic comments to me in private, even when I went to a school where there were quite a few Jewish girls.

whitewave Mon 26-Mar-18 16:25:13

baggs If that person was clearly a risk to society in his/her expression of hate. The answer is yes.

If he/she merely expressed idiotic opinions, and we know there are plenty of them. I would simply distance myself.

Jalima1108 Mon 26-Mar-18 16:25:39

My opinion is never humble lemongrove. I don't do grovelling

Oh! I always thought that IMHO meant In My Honest Opinion.

Presumably your opinions are honest assessments of what you think Gracesgran!

trisher Mon 26-Mar-18 16:27:13

The only people who have told me what to think are the right wingers on this thread who accused me of anti-semitism because I couldn't see any in the mural and because I believe there is no valid reason to censor art.

Iam64 Mon 26-Mar-18 16:28:10

Well, I have had a number of people make antisemitic comments to me. I can think of three local cab drivers, two of them graduates who have talked about a jewish conspiracy, jews ruling the world along with Americans, jews running the media, the banks and all the finances. The twin towers were blown up by Jewish Americans to cause chaos in the Middle East.
These are otherwise pleasant, interesting men but during the hour long trip to our airport have begun to open up about politics. No I haven't reported them to the police. Yes I did challenge their views. Did my challenge make any difference of course not.

durhamjen Mon 26-Mar-18 16:33:35

"Free Speech on Israel is appalled at the campaign to brand Jeremy Corbyn as an antisemite by dredging up old Facebook posts that, on any serious inspection, prove nothing of the sort.

FSOI welcomes this statement from Jewish Voice for Labour @UKLabour #JeremyCorbyn #antisemitism
9:32 PM - Mar 25, 2018 "

Baggs Mon 26-Mar-18 16:33:47

baggs If that person was clearly a risk to society in his/her expression of hate

That's not what I asked, ww. You did answer what I asked. Thank you for the clarification.

durhamjen Mon 26-Mar-18 16:36:14

By the way, Chuka Umunna was a member of the committee that said labour was no more anti-semitic than any other party.

Ten times Corbyn stood with British Jews against antisemitism.

lemongrove Mon 26-Mar-18 16:43:20

trisher Corbyn spoke at a rally against the Danish cartoons about Mohammed, he wasn’t simply present, he spoke out about them saying how bad they were.
So, some art can be censored ( if it suits the agenda.)

lemongrove Mon 26-Mar-18 16:44:02

Obviously anti Jewish ‘cartoons’ are a different matter.

durhamjen Mon 26-Mar-18 16:45:21

"We are Jews in the Labour Party currently campaigning for Labour in local elections. We are appalled by the actions & statements of Board of Deputies. They do not represent us or the many Jews who share Jeremy Corbyn’s vision for social justice & fairness www.jewishvoiceforlabour.org.uk/jvl/a-jvl-statement-on-the-current-attacks-on-jeremy-corbyn/ …"

lemongrove Mon 26-Mar-18 16:48:34

So why are there demonstrations today outside Parliament, if all Jewish people are so behind Corbyn and the LP?
A conspiracy by any chance?
Well done some posters though, Momentum would be proud of your supportive comments.

lemongrove Mon 26-Mar-18 16:50:02

I say Momentum, because as they rose to prominence the allegations of antisemitism became more frequent.

petra Mon 26-Mar-18 16:50:39

Lots of anti Jewish remarks in the last road I lived in. We weren't very far from the synagogue and as some of you might know, as a Jew you must walk to shul but many of the congregation couldn't be bothered thereby filling up the nearby roads.
Perhaps I should have reported them to the thought police.

petra Mon 26-Mar-18 16:52:42

Lemon
At least jezza has a 'few' friends here grin

lemongrove Mon 26-Mar-18 16:52:52

Not that the far left on here will ever accept it ( or any other criticism of the Great One.)
