Do with assisting Corbyn to number ten ( and who could blame them) they would be free to vote Lib Dem or Conservative if they chose, or not vote at all.

Which means that if it's the labour party it is reported and investigated. In other parties it isn't.

Shami Chakrabarti, the shadow attorney-general, was “on the verge of tears” after she was accused of whitewashing antisemitism claims. Sir Keir Starmer, the shadow Brexit secretary, pushed for a full discussion but was told all frontbenchers must take responsibility.

This came after David Miliband issued a call to arms with an attack on the Labour leadership and a demand for action amid mounting pressure over antisemitism.

Referring to a demonstration outside parliament by Jewish groups, Ms Long-Bailey told the BBC Radio 4 Today programme: “It was devastating for every single Labour MP to realise that the Jewish community had lost faith in our approach to antisemitism going forward

Louise Ellman, an MP and former chairwoman of the Jewish Labour Movement, accused Mr Corbyn of failing to take effective action. The Jewish community was “in absolute fury and great distress” and the party was in crisis

Critics complained that Mr Corbyn did not come out and join the Jewish community convening outside the Commons. Hundreds of demonstrators assembled, with placards that read “Dayenu”, meaning “enough” in Hebrew, and “For the many, not the Jew”. A counterprotest by Jewish pro-Corbyn activists also gathered. Among the group was Tony Greenstein, an activist expelled from Labour last month over antisemitism.

At a meeting of the parliamentary Labour Party last night there was a standing ovation for Luciana Berger, the MP who highlighted concerns over Mr Corbyn’s response to the mural. Mr Corbyn was not present at the meeting

Corbyn has been shooting himself in the foot so often in the past fortnight that it’s a wonder he can still walk!
Time will tell if he has lost much of the Jewish vote ww but it would be strange if he hadn’t.He may well have lost a lot of traditional Labour voters too with his woeful performance in Parliament over the Russians.

I think people are becoming less influenced by MSM because over a number of years, they've seen evidence they've been lied to - going back to Hillsborough, Milly Dowler etc. When campaigning, people did used to ask about things they've seen in the paper or on tv, but with much more widespread access to online news, forums, independent journalism, fact checkers etc, this doesn't happen as often now. The last 2 weeks has again been about housing, school cuts, NHS and wages. Only one person raised Brexit, and one mentioned Russia. No-one mentioned anti semitism but maybe we don't have a large Jewish number in my constituency

May has had as many problems and there is as much antisemitism in the tory party as in Labour.

I don't know if anyone else on Twitter has noticed, but there has not been a single post today from Corbyn's twitter account. That is very unusual. It happens sometimes at weekends, but even then there's usually a few posts lined up. Today it has been absolutely silent.

For those who consistently refuse to engage with the fact that there is anti-Semitism, islamaphobia and racism in the Tory party that’s a bit rich!

durhamjen, May appears to be under pressure within her own party from the likes of Hunt and Rees Mogg which is why I think she's giving money for Health and she is trying to appease the Brexiteers. I think she just tries to ignore Boris, as does everyone. He was made to apologise by Bercow today

The pressure is all about the upcoming elections.

bmacca I agree about MSM waning influence, but a lot of the conversation on social media is driven by what's reported in the MSM. Social media seems full of comedians and actors saying they would be embarrassed to vote Labour. David Baddiel has been engaged by some pretty awful Corbynites, which was a dumb move on their part. Actors who are saying 'just don't be nasty' have been trolled and called Nazi's for playing the role of German soldiers in films. It's been pretty bad, in my opinion, on social media. They all follow this sort of rubbish with a #JC4PM.

The '20 tweets a day' Corbyn accounts have been saying "why smear a person who grows marrows" as if that makes it all OK. The social media presence of the LP is not what it was last summer. It just seems to be falling apart in my opinion.

Primrose, I think there are loads of issues with social media and I'm not sure how that gets any better now. I suppose some of it depends on who and what groups you follow. Baddiel for instance has always been critical of Corbyn so I guess he will get negative comments but I agree that a lot of it is unpleasant and uncalled for. I think some people don't know how to debate, some just hate being challenged, some are just sad individuals who like to make mischief for their own amusement. Obviously we can have opposing views but we should always try to be respectful but somehow this doesn't happen in a lot of exchanges on social media. I don't know what the answer is ?

Why does antisemitism in the labour party matter so much to people who would never vote labour?
