Can't believe it!

It’s the inordinate amount of time given over to it on the news. It’s not as if it’s not being covered in other programmes.

My dh said to me last night..... I hear there's a wedding tomorrow. !!

Meanwhile, I and two friends plus my dgd age 10, will be watching the wedding. We have a bottle of West Coast Cooler, Pure Orange, for our version of Bucks Fizz, sandwiches, and strawberries and cream, to see us through the day. With a cocktail for dgd.

Dh will later have his footie.

The day begins. Up early, Barbecue out of the shed and connected up, all wine in the fridge or coolers ready for all guests to arrive.

I am now all spruced up and sparkling, I have even changed my underwater ready for the big day.

Yes Jane I know it’s the news and it does get a bit OTT but it does with everything. There are so many news channels these days that you could choose not to watch it and catch up with the misery on another channel.
I’m trying not to watch so much news these days, yes even the BBC’s coverage of the wedding! We’ve been in Australia for the past few weeks and not seen any. I firmly believe we are happier for it.

Sigh. The BBC news is the news. There are many other programmes about this wedding as previously stated. There's no reason why the BBC news couldn't have mentioned that this wedding was going to take place and mentioned that they would have a specific programme about it at 7 pm only an hour later. No need for interviews with bystanders or discussions about plans for picnics etc.
I won't be mentioning my plans for this weekend as this is, after all, a news thread!

Jane, all the top BBC news presenters are at Windsor for the great day. There surely is no one at Broadcasting House to discuss any other news subject. So, settle back with what is thought will be two billion others around the world and enjoy the display of pageantry that only Britain can produce.

No wedding or football for us as neither of us is remotely interested in either. A lovely day which we shall spend in the garden. I wish the happy couple well as I would anyone else on their wedding day, but beyond that, we shall do our best to avoid both events.

Grandad1943 over 75% of people in Scotland say they have no interest in and wont be watching the farce that is the royal wedding.We WOULD like to be able to watch the news without it being hijacked by royal propoganda .

Yes, there’s lots of bad news in the world, and actually, though some of you are moaning about the Rotal Wedding and it’s coverage, you all still know about these terrible things that are happening, so you’ve heard about them from somewhere, haven’t you? I’m not for one minute suggesting that these things shouldn’t be reported, and I also think the RW coverage has been somewhat over the top at times, but do you know what? Today, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed something that helps take ones mind off the truly dismal and upsetting things going on in our world just for a while. We all need cheering up sometimes. Oh, and actually, the American Bishops address at the wedding was very pertinent - he spoke about the power of love, and if only the world could drag itself away from anger, war, bitterness, etc, then maybe, just maybe, we could live in a better world. Wouldn’t that be something?

Paddyann the 25% of Scots who are interested in the RW must all be living near me! It's been so quiet here, no traffic around at all until about 2pm - everyone must have been at home watching the tv.

It felt like everyone in Scotland was at the shopping centre with me this morning. Much busier than usual for the time of day.

If you don't have a telly you don't get swamped. I read all the main real world news. I chose what to read so things, including Meghan and Harry's wedding, got the newsworthy 'weight' I thought they deserved.

You have control over what you listen to and watch so stop moaning about stuff you dont' want to listen to or watch. Switch it off and read a newspaper or several.

Such grumpy sods.

PS Just, about five minutes ago, had a look at some wedding pics on BBC website. Elegant dress.

PPS We went to Mount Stuart on Bute for the day—free tickets because it was closed last time we went even though its website said it was open. So wedding news has taken uo a few minutes of my day and no more.

Er Baggs like many others I didn't watch the Royal wedding. I just wanted an update on world news. Not asking a lot. I would have thought that would have been a simple enough concept to grasp but apparently not.

I got an update on world news so I'm puzzled why you couldn't, especially if you have TV and radio, which I don't. Your not being able to get such an update is a difficult concept to grasp.

That little boy who was made to walk behind his mother's coffin 20 years ago got married to the woman he loves. I wish them well for the future and am glad the coverage was such that it allowed us to share their memorable day.
The music was sublime and I for one saw a new side to Prince Charles and his pride in ,and love for , his son and his new daughter in law.
The news bulletins will be back to doom and gloom today.

It was a truly great day, which was thoroughly enjoyed my wife, myself and our three daughters and their families who joined us for the entire day.

Not many events live up to their advanced billing, but the marriage of these two young people surpassed all expectations in its ceremony, splendour, grace and humour and gave everyone who watched it a great lift and a pride in Britain not to be matched in any other country in the world.

It was a pity that ManU did not win the cup final later, being that they have such a huge overseas support base, but even that was a good match especially in the second half.

In a day when the eyes of the world were on the United Kingdom our country demonstrated to that world, it's very best to all whether at home or abroad.

I like a wedding as much as the next person and don't mind the coverage of the actual event, but 3 or four hours of build up with Dermot O Dreary and Huw Edwards trying to think of things to say about nothing. Tedious. I tuned in at 12 and turned off at the end of the procession.

Well we watched the wedding. First we like Harry and Meghan. Secondly the world was actually watching our little country. It was in the spotlight in a really positive fashion. The sun was showing Windsor and that wonderful long drive in all its beauty. The pageantry was, as usual, the best, the most precise in the world. No other country has a royal family that people from other lands would travel thousands of miles to sit outside at night just to see. However, moan, criticise because that is the way of it. Oh,
Too much on the news! Why not? Let’s make the most of it. This country is in a mess of its own making so go on have a good old moan. I for one enjoyed it with a few glasses of champagne. Well done everyone concerned you gave this country a well deserved lift.

For once I agree with you Grandad and Baggs (apart from the football, which we're not interested in and didn't watch). For all I said earlier, we did watch SOME of it, as the service, for us,was a bit like the curates egg! but as you said Baggs, it was easy enough to switch it off for a while!! The young couple looked so happy, who could not wish them well?!! The military escort looked magnificent, what a nice touch to include the Ghurkas, Prince Charles and Camilla were so kind thoughtful all round (the Prince clearly loves his sons, and they do him) The Queen and stalwart Prince Phillip? brilliant!! and yes, we can still put on a magnificent show and I felt proud of this country. Only one thing, where's a Dimbleby when you need them?!!!
