Novichok yet again in Wiltshire!

It's dreadful there are more poisonings but the bit that's really angered me is the quote from the alcoholic pairs friend.

I feel very sorry for the people of the area. Despite all the assurances that everything has been cleaned up its a sort of rubbish roulette as to whether or not some unfortunate person accidentally comes in contact with the remainder of this toxic substance.
Those poor junkies. They sound like lost souls themselves.

Whew annie that's a relief!!! I'd half wondered if the hot weather was getting to me!! ? To suggest Mrs May is party to poisoning this poor unfortunate couple is really quite astonishing bordering on wicked! As for the princess, I think we all know what the story was there, and I while no one deserves to die, when you dice with death??!!?

I agree maryeliza54 the term "junkies" is abhorrent and disrespectful.

We do not know this couple, only what the media have dug up and presented. They may have underlying mental health or family problems, in my experience no one sets out on their life journey to be an addict!!

All though we allegedly live in an open country, maybe things are kept back for matters of national security.

Jalima, they weren't' targeted' by the Russians. The Russians denied anything to do with the Skripal case, blaming it on Porton Down. If another couple of people, with no contact with the Skripals and with no security issues is infected, the Russians can just turn round and say 'See, we told you, both poisonings are the result of intent or lack of security at Porton Down. Where ever the Novochok, was placed it was somewhere which had enough people going past for someone to pick it up and be poisoned. No targeting involved

Of course no one sets out to become addicted to substances of any kind. I used to term 'junkie' as a rapid summary of their lifestyle. Obviously I should have been more mealy mouthed.

I think we all knew this was shorthand for individuals with illegal substance abuse and addiction issues

I do think that is a fairly general term in use for anyone who is addicted to anything - be it drugs, chocolate, football, computer games, tv etc etc. and not particularly derogatory.

Whether the two people affected by this terrible event are drug takers, alcoholics or high wire dancers is totally and completely irrelevant to the discussion about what has happened to them. They were randomly poisoned and the people affected could just as likely to have been children or GN members.

Possibly Monica but also possibly their lifestyle was the cause of their finding something, a friend said they all did

lemon these are two people - ‘bin diving’. WTAF. Read what MOnica said - whatever their life style and you have no bloody idea at all about how it came about, they wouldn’t have been poisoned if the poison had not been there. You should read what the leader of Salisbury Council said about them - and he didn’t use words ds like bin diving and junkies -he talked about them as people.This thread is really showing us the true nature of some posters - if we needed showing. ebay you have absolutely no idea about what is the truth about these two people and their lives - absolutely in idea at all. And even if that were the truth, so what? They have been poisoned, they are very ill - or don’t they count because they are junkies and bin dive ( according to some on GN)

Yes, they do count, of course they do, but the media does always seem to include details about people, their jobs, their ages - even the type of house they live in.
It is always the case.

ebayqueen, I accept you have a right to your point of view. I can even see the argument that 'blowing' benefits on substances isn't putting the benefits to the purpose for which they're intended. That's the point at which our view of "the likes of them".
This couple lie seriously ill in hospital. They are the innocent victims of some dreadful chemical poisoning. What have they done to deserve that- nothing at all. The fact is that both of them seem to have been engaging with agencies set up to help people like them. By that I mean people in desperate need, people who have become addicted drugs and/or alcohol, who have become homeless as a result of their mental and physical health problems.
The lack of human compassion shown in your comments is far more distressing to me than my taxes being "wasted"on "the likes of them"

'Bin diving' could be very relevant in this case.

I think that even 'Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells' may agree that it could be a factor in how they came to be affected.

However - I am puzzled that the bins are not more regularly emptied in Salisbury?

Of course they are people and matter as much as anyone else and this is tragic, what I have pointed out is what was reported and not my own opinion, and could be very pertinent to the case if the discarded canister of poison was in a skip or a bin somewhere.
