So 50 MPs met to discuss getting rid of her, should we be counting the days? Or will she simply stay because there's no other suitable candidate and no one wants a poisoned chalice?

Blasted right-wing predictive text!

Mustn’t...

MaizieD Mon 24-Sept-18 16:12:13

it smacks of ‘the workers!’

It smacks of fascism....

lemongrove Mon 24-Sept-18 16:15:34

So saying ‘People’s’ something smacks of fascism?
Bit weird, as the Left use that phrase all the time.

lemongrove Mon 24-Sept-18 16:17:48

In fact using the prefix ‘the People’s’ is a Communist phrase.

lemongrove Mon 24-Sept-18 16:22:29

Nothing to do with ‘the working class’ more to do with comedy writers ( Tracey Breaks The News) where in the allotment scenes, McDonnell and Corbyn put their hands on their hearts and say ‘the workers!’ grin

trisher Mon 24-Sept-18 16:23:21

For somebody who thinks none of us lefties have any idea what the working class are like and wouldn't like them if we did lemon, you seem to be a bit confused about them. Are you suggesting "People" is in some way a derogatory term? Or are you prejudiced against workers in some way? I thought it was generally agreed that we are all workers now.

lemongrove Mon 24-Sept-18 16:24:37

Sense of humour bypass trisher .....a condition suffered by many far lefties.

trisher Mon 24-Sept-18 16:28:16

lemon you are so wrong The 1832 Reform act was The Representation of the People Act and in 1909 the H of Lords passed a "People's Budget". Historically the term is much older than communism

trisher Mon 24-Sept-18 16:29:35

Noting wrong with my sense of humour I just don't like bad jokes from uninformed people.

lemongrove Mon 24-Sept-18 16:31:40

It may well be older ( who cares?) but in Communist countries is used a great deal, China in particular.
The left seems to use it here too, People’s Marches etc.

lemongrove Mon 24-Sept-18 16:32:50

Bad jokes? Blame Tracey Ullman then, but it was actually very very funny. grin

MaizieD Mon 24-Sept-18 16:35:45

I think that Gnet should have a dedicated Comedy forum.... poor lemon's jokes fall so very flat on Politics...

OldMeg Mon 24-Sept-18 16:43:06

Maizie she makes me LOL!

lemongrove Mon 24-Sept-18 16:43:34

Only with certain posters MaizieD !

lemongrove Mon 24-Sept-18 16:44:33

If you haven’t seem Tracey Breaks The News yet, then you really should.

lemongrove Mon 24-Sept-18 16:45:25

OldMeg LOL isn’t used anymore.

lemongrove Mon 24-Sept-18 16:48:05

Do any of you not believe what Corbyn says? As you are so dismissive of niggly in believing politicians?

OldMeg Mon 24-Sept-18 16:55:33

Oh no! Now I’m completely cut up not being on trend ?

OldMeg Mon 24-Sept-18 16:56:20

Seriously though Corbyn is one of the few politicians I do believe.

lemongrove Mon 24-Sept-18 16:57:43

I thought he might be wink

OldMeg Mon 24-Sept-18 17:05:44

No, if you were addressing my post the correct reply would be ‘I thought you’d believe that’

You should have been answering my belief in Corbyn not what ‘he might be’.

OldMeg Mon 24-Sept-18 17:06:47

Just pointing that out. Can’t help the pendant in me.

GillT57 Mon 24-Sept-18 17:44:21

Actually the annoying phrase The People's Vote is up there with Taking back Control and The People have spoken and you are wrong lemon, they are not used by lefties ( another REALLY irritating word) but by every platitudinous politician that appears on QT or on Andrew Marr or whatever. They use these irritating phrases to pretend, to try to convince the electorate that they really do take notice. This is politicians, political pundits and journalists of all persuasions by the way. Just watch, don't make assumptions.

MaizieD Mon 24-Sept-18 17:47:51

As you are so dismissive of niggly in believing politicians?

It's nellie who keeps proclaiming that she doesn't believe what anyone says... Then suddenly, David Cameron's word is gospel (thought only, unfortunately, only the 'once in a lifetime' rhetoric; not the 'we should remain in the EU stuff.. hmm )

lemongrove Mon 24-Sept-18 18:42:17

The pendant OldMeg or the pedant? grin
