Aldi have announced a large expansion and are about to employ a further 1000 members of staff. They aren't worried about Brexit then.

Yes, dear - and a lovely weekend to you too. Hope you feel better soon.

MawBroon Thu 11-Oct-18 17:29:06

Didn’t know I was feeling poorly confused

MawBroon Thu 11-Oct-18 17:31:37

They are called plaits gringrin

In the meantime, we get 'Dad's Army Brexit' - they probably read Gransnet lol.

And the connection with this thread title is.......?

Chewbacca Thu 11-Oct-18 17:37:45

Well, I stand corrected merlot! In that case I had "bunches" of straggly hair that stuck out of the sides of my head. I was aiming for "plaits/platts/braids/platz" but I got nits and had my hair chopped off . never did get pig tails/plaits /braids/platz & too late now sad

Chewbacca Thu 11-Oct-18 17:41:32

Sorry jura but what does that have to do with Aldi expansion or plaits/platts /braids/platz? I appreciate you're over invested interested in Brexit but that's quite a stretch even so. confused

merlotgran Thu 11-Oct-18 17:52:26

grin Chewbacca

Chewb, may I ask you to re-read the OP- Brexit was very much part of this thread from the start- and not by my choice.

As for Dad's Army - a bit like Black Adder - how and what we eat is very much related, and so is our attitude to it all. You see- all linked, in mysterious ways ;) indeed.

But not plaits, I agree. Merlot's joke is responsible here.

Chewbacca Thu 11-Oct-18 18:50:52

Yes jura, Brexit was referred to in the op but only in the context that Aldi seems to be unbothered by it. And I would concur with that observation. Aldi have gone from strength to strength, winning several awards for the quality and value for money of their products. They've opened many new stores across the UK this year alone and so have invested heavily in our country. I seriously doubt that they are as fearful of the future, post Brexit, as you are.

MawBroon Thu 11-Oct-18 18:59:53

Yay, plaits!

'I seriously doubt that they are as fearful of the future, post Brexit, as you are.'

agreed, and for what reason, do you think? My point entirely.

I'm afraid, if the OP makes it clear it is Brexit related- then the discussion can go in many directions- and not necessarily where the OP, or you, intended. That is the nature of the beast.

Chewbacca Thu 11-Oct-18 19:27:08

I suspect that Aldi have many financial advisers, who will have taken the long view jura. I doubt that they will have invested so much money in the UK if they had any great concerns for the longevity of their business post Brexit. But you seem determined to be worried and anxious about it all and nothing that anyone can say to you will bring you peace of mind. So I'll leave you to carry on with your mithering.

jura2 Thu 11-Oct-18 19:32:24

Of course they have financial advisers- and they can see their chance- as price are rising fast, and shortages beginning. They are on the ball, for sure...

As for mithering, I'll just end in French 'Patisserie Valérie' - bonne nuit.

Better be quick before they go bust then.

jura2 Thu 11-Oct-18 20:00:52

yes, my point entirely ;)

Chewbacca Thu 11-Oct-18 20:47:06

Give Maw! jura is absolutely determined to mither herself into a stew, no matter what. Best leave her to it.

Chewbacca Thu 11-Oct-18 20:48:41

Sorry Maw... I meant "give up"! banging head against a brick wall

MawBroon Thu 11-Oct-18 20:52:04

I’m out!

MawBroon Thu 11-Oct-18 20:58:13

But isn’t it unfair to deprive Jura of the opportunity to (bang on abou) discuss Brexit?
There are so few threads dedicated to aspects of it (10 on the first page, but there may be more) so I think you should let her go on.... and on.

jura2 Thu 11-Oct-18 21:04:19

Strange way to be out Maw-

before you go, care to give an answer about the Irish border, please. Because if you ever gave answers, or discussed Brexit - we might actually get somewhere. As said, this thread was not started by a Remainer, was it?

Ariston ...

lemongrove Thu 11-Oct-18 21:15:47

Now we have ‘Irish Border’ in the thread. grin

A brand new Aldi opened recently near me, which was a pleasant surprise as there wasn’t one for a long long way before that.I enjoyed browsing in it and comparing prices.
No wonder Aldi and Lidl are success stories. The Tesco near the new Aldi now have massive price cuts, a win win situation for customers. smile

MawBroon Thu 11-Oct-18 21:15:50

Is this thread about the Irish Border now? confused

jura2 Thu 11-Oct-18 21:19:26

not really, but it is about discussing Brexit. But you can reply to the question on the Irish border thread, if you'd care to do so, because we have been waiting for days ...

lemongrove Thu 11-Oct-18 21:20:46

You know, I really think that Brexit has sent some people crazy.
