Anyone with a brain cell can see for themselves that he said "stupid woman". I would have had a little bit of respect if he had owned up and apologised, but he's just blatantly lied at the ballot box. Who looks stupid now?

MawBroon Thu 20-Dec-18 07:44:11

Great minds think very nearly alike merlotgran !

eazybee Thu 20-Dec-18 08:04:27

Don't particularly blame Corbyn for mouthing 'stupid woman' after May's pantomime... and stupid performance.
What I do mind, after describing him yesterday as a man of principle, is his scuttling from the Chamber and returning later with his written notes, pretending he mouthed 'stupid people.'
No, we are not.

MaizieD Thu 20-Dec-18 08:53:03

If he'd said 'stupid person' would that have been OK?

I cannot believe what a mountain range is being made out of a worm cast.

Anniebach Thu 20-Dec-18 09:03:31

He did say stupid woman , some think this is acceptable

Was it acceptable to lie to the house ?

The man lies, there was traingate

The wall mural which he admired , ‘ I didn’t look closely’

The anti semetic group on the jnternet ‘ I didn’t read it’

The wreath laying for terrorists ‘ I was there but I don’t know if I was involved’

How can some keep denying he spoke these lies?

Lazigirl Thu 20-Dec-18 09:41:19

A very balanced and sensible post IMO Luckygirl and exactly mirrors my view.

Nonnie Thu 20-Dec-18 09:59:35

It was "stupid woman", no doubt of that. Surely the point is that no party leader should say such a thing, not whether he was provoked or having a bad day or any other excuse. If he wants to lead our country he should know better. He should also learn to apologise, when he is in the wrong.

I don't even think he wrote the 'clarification' he read out. I think his spin doctors told him what to say.

He just isn't up to the job and Dianne Abbott's defence of him on the radio this morning was pathetic. She should go back to wherever she has been hiding recently. Where is Jess Philips? She normal plays drama queen about anything to do with women being maltreated.

As Jeremy Corbyn is 69 years old perhaps he has the first stages of dementia.

mumofmadboys Thu 20-Dec-18 10:04:16

May was being silly and stupid.
May is a woman.
No big deal even if Corbyn called her a stupid woman.
I think she was being a stupid woman at that moment of time.

Nicenanny3 Thu 20-Dec-18 10:08:27

I think it's a big deal that he lied when it was obvious what he said.

Anniebach Thu 20-Dec-18 10:15:00

It’s the fact he lied yet again

Smileless2012 Thu 20-Dec-18 10:19:50

I agree Nicenanny it's a very big deal when the leader of an opposition party blatantly lies about something that he has so obviously done.

MaizieD Thu 20-Dec-18 10:21:56

It's not at all obvious what he said.

Naturally, twitter was awash with this last night. Several people quoted the opinions of professional lip readers or deaf people. There was no consensus as to what he said. Some said it was 'people', some said 'woman'.

Sorry, but if people who are expert lip readers can't agree then it isn't in the slightest bit 'obvious' what he said.

What is blindingly obvious is that it's personal bias rather than objective evidence which is driving most of posters' responses on here.

luluaugust Thu 20-Dec-18 10:23:55

The problem is the lying (think Profumo) it is a rather child like response. I think he did say stupid woman, has he lost his sense of humour? Goodness knows what got in to TM or her speech writer could it have been the Christmas spirit.

Anniebach Thu 20-Dec-18 10:24:35

What is blindingly obvious is his devotees will defend him no matter how often he lies

henetha Thu 20-Dec-18 10:31:22

It's perfectly clear that he did say 'stupid woman', but what really disturbs me that he lied about it.

Anniebach Thu 20-Dec-18 10:34:00

Can he be trusted with his many promises ?

humptydumpty Thu 20-Dec-18 10:44:38

henetha it is not blindingly obvious, see MaizieD's comment above. I thought that when I first watched it, but now think he said 'people', from the way his lips moved.

Actually though even if he did say it, I agree with the sentiment, what a ridiculaous performance from TM yesterday - what IS she thinking, mimicking a pantomime when she is forcing Britain down her chosen route, whether they like it or not.

Surely that is a much more important issue. She is behaving like a dictator.

Luckygirl Thu 20-Dec-18 10:48:09

I am not defending JC; just saying that derogatory comments happen all the time in the HofC and do not attract all this publicity. Of course it is wrong, but sadly it is how that noble institution works.

He cannot be faulted for his accuracy - TM was indeed being stupid at a time when this is the last thing we all need.

Anniebach Thu 20-Dec-18 10:49:20

What is important is he lied , he has often lied , how can he be trusted .

It is not possible to say people without lips touching twice , try saying ‘p’ without lips touching

henetha Thu 20-Dec-18 10:56:02

I've stared at it several times and it really does look much more like stupid woman than stupid people, and most lip reading experts that I have seen/heard are saying so.

humptydumpty Thu 20-Dec-18 10:56:42

Annie his lips did touch twice.

glammanana Thu 20-Dec-18 11:01:58

JC certainly mouthed stupid woman in my opinion and he could have saved all the backlash if he had apologised straight away instead of running away and try to cover his tracks.
Does the Country really want someone like this to possibly become PM I hope not.

Anniebach Thu 20-Dec-18 11:47:42

Humptydumpty the lips do not form the same for a ‘w’ and a ‘p’ and certainly not for ‘woman’ and ‘people’

nigglynellie Thu 20-Dec-18 12:10:10

If he'd said stupid people, why did he feel it necessary to flee from the chamber? Surely he would have repeated what he said and defended it when others queried?! Presumably he scuttled off to get advice on how to wriggle (lie) out of what he obviously said which was undoubtedly stupid woman! What a fool that man is for sure!

Anniebach Thu 20-Dec-18 12:17:39

Diane Abbot has said he didn’t say it, ?
