Orchids and other lovely plants that don’t need a lot of attention
A small number of back benchers will announce they are leaving the party this morning.
Chuka Umunna is one who may be among them.

The Mirror is reporting that Umunna's views are coming back to bite him.

The ardent Corbyn critic is widely seen as the ringleader of the breakaway group which was joined by three former Tory MPs on Wednesday
But back in September 2016 he had a rather different stance on forming new parties
Challenged by Conservative commentator Tim Montgomerie to leave the party and form a new movement, the Streatham MP gave him short shrift
He replied: "Absolutely not, the courageous thing to do is to stay in our party
Hmmm
I can appreciate that on occasions MPs may realise that their party has taken a decision/ direction that they do not personally support or that impacts negatively on their constituents and so may vote against their own party. If however the difference becomes so great between an MPs opinion and the party they were elected to represent they need to discuss this fully with the party leaders to see what common ground, change etc can be achieved . Do we know if this happened?
Thought Sarah Woolaston' s comment this morning was relevant - that both LP and Tory parties have moved away from the centre, ruled by Momentum and ERG extremists.
Now in HoC more are declaring as Independent than DUP or Liberals.
Don't we "live in interesting times"?
it is all very exciting, true
You are aware of the old Chinese curse aren't you, Andy?
Imagine Barry Gardner and Dianne Abbott on a panel!
They should record themselves talking about any topic and sell copies. No one would ever suffer from insomnia again although alternatively you might cut your own throat first.
When Chuka said that in 2016 he didn’t know the depths the then Labour Party would sink.
Petition to call by-elections.https://www.change.org/p/mps-to-call-by-elections-if-they-leave-their-party-end-votetheft?signed=true
Momentum has announced it is starting mass canvassing sessions in the 8 constituencies now.
Gone are the days when the Labour Party did the canvassing. But there is no Labour Party now
There is here! it is tiny because the shire Tories rule the roost here!
There are '. 18 ' MP's sitting in Parliament who have chosen since the 2017 Election to sit as INDEPENDENT MP's from Labour/Conservative/Lib Dem Parties. They were ALL voted in as MP's on their respective Party ticket. The '. 18.' are not including those MP's who stood as Independents.
The petition states this:-
' In 2017, the 11 MPs who have joined The Independent Group were all elected on their parties’ tickets. Many of their constituents will have cast their ballot for these MPs in a show of support for their Party, its policies and its leadership.
These MPs should call a by-election in their constituencies so the people they represent have a say - either confirming this MP should to continue as an independent or selecting a new Member of Parliament who better represents their community. Please help by signing this petition.'----
Why is the petition only mentioning the 11 who have recently resigned and not All 18 MP' s from Labour/Conservative /Lib Dems who have decided to sit as INDEPENDENT MP's.?
It either a principle or not. Had the petition been on a point of principle not just the 11 recent cases I might have signed it.
will the MP’s who left their party because of racism and bullying be judged on this ? I think not
I think they left for more than one reason. Corbyn's support for Tory brexit is a big one when most LP voters, most LP members and most LP MPs want the UK to Remain in the EU.
The takeover by the far left momentum, bullying, racism and anti-semitism and also Corbyn's refusal to support a People's vote as required by party policy, are all good reasons for these eight MPs, and perhaps others, to leave the Labour Party.
Funny how people are quick to spot racism in the LP but not on GN!
PECS
Anyone can post on here it’s the internet
The Labour Party is supposed to be an organised, decent, fair, legal, robust organised political party.
It was until Corbyn took over.
Seriously you compare the party to mumsnet posters? You don’t think there’s a higher bar?
I suppose that’s the problem.
POGS the petition is worded MPs to call by-elections if they leave their party
The explanation mentions the 11 MPs but the petition itself does not.
Listening to Anna Soubry attempting to explain what all of them had in common- "shared values" apparently, but that they did not have policies because they are not a political party was a bit like listening to the discussion between Alice and the White Queen
Alice laughed: "There's no use trying," she said; "one can't believe impossible things." "I daresay you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was younger, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.
I think they left for more than one reason. Corbyn's support for Tory brexit is a big one when most LP voters, most LP members and most LP MPs want the UK to Remain in the EU.
Corbyn is anti EU and always has been. AFAIAC it is his one strength and I just wish he'd stop fence sitting and use his position to outline why leaving the EU is a left wing cause!
He is a fool unto himself!
He would have tapped into the Unions very worthy objections to the EU and would have had the large Labour Leave contingent standing by his side.
He lost the courage of his convictions and for that he is a weaker man and leader.
Day6
Because that would take energy and time and we all know he’s hopelessly lazy.
Someone forgot to write it down for him to read
Luciana Berger and others said that the LP had failed to tackle anti-Semitism in the Labour ranks. Yet I read in the Evening Standard that Mr Corbyn said he was "utterly determined to root out anti-Semitism from our party and our country".
www.standard.co.uk/news/politics/jeremy-corbyn-vows-to-fight-antisemitism-telling-jewish-people-labour-is-their-ally-a4072466.html
I thought Sharma Chakrabati found there was no anti-Semitism in the LP so why is he determined to root out something they deny exists?
Ruth Smeeth was verbally attacked by a Momentum activist
When Chakrabati delivered her findings on anti semetism in the party, Ruth left the room distressed. Corbyn remained silent and after the meeting he greeted her attacker , it’s on uTube.
At the Party conference last year Ruth need police protection,
Isn't it funny how regardless of the subject some posters post entirely the same things they always do. They seem unable to discuss anything else. So the actions of 11 MPs become submerged in castigating Corbyn and accusations of anti-semitism. I don't think the 11 would be happy. I think they wanted people to talk about them.
12 now. One more has just left the LP
