If you are at all politically minded and would like to share any GOOD NEWS about Brexit, or would just like to post some optimistic thoughts - this is the thread to love. ❤️
Most of us are weary of the gloom and doom on GN! Let’s share positive news and views. Its time to look for compromise, be kind and inclusive with one another if we can. Life’s too short to be scared or miserable!
Stop peeping. C’mon in! We’d love to hear from you. x
Theresa May has been warned that a long delay to Brexit could deal a fatal blow to the Conservatives, with one minister claiming that participating in the European elections would be a “suicide note” for the party.
These options are different. Remain means end of brexit nonsense.
Any kind of leave means that the rest of our lives would be blighted with negotiations 're trade deals, treaties , etc then when it is clear that it was all a dreadful mistake, accusations about whose fault it was,, recriminations and reprisals.
Mycatisahacker Quote[ Great thread! We shall survive come what may!] End quote.
We may well survive as a nation following Brexit, although being much poorer economically into the future. However, I feel that the Conservative Party may well not survive as an identity, which will be a great pity as is has been a significant distinction in Britains political history, even if it was not an asset.
This is a fascinating conversation between James O'Brien and Oliver Norgrove, who worked for Vote Leave during the Brexit referendum campaign, but says he would now vote Remain.
One huge potential positive amongst the doom and gloom for me is that people have been forced (or encouraged) to engage more and critically debate political happenings.
In the past I feel many people took the EU and the advantages of it for granted. Many didn't know or didn't bother to find out about the history of it, and how much money (and potential support) it has meant not just culturally, but economically and socially too for different parts of the U.K.
I'm hoping that he 'healing' spoken about will be a 'healing' which encourages a greater cooperation between people and nations. And a re-evaluation of what an amazing thing the EU is. And also the democratic rights we have, as countries to engage with it and make it even better. That's good news.
Seeing that Brexit would cause years of uncertainty for UK businesses as trade deals (which don't happen overnight) are sorted out I find your comment strangely ironic, GG13
I can't help feeling that the unpatriotic ones are those who voted to precipitate this mess...
Surely no-one who loves this country or even cares about this country would ever want to condemn it to another ten years or more of colossal waste of energy, time and money and the danger to security, breakdown in social cohesion and loss of national reputation that he have seen for the last four years.
The most patriotic thing any UK citizen can do now is to campaign to Revoke Article 50 and Remain in the EU.
varian why resurrect an old thread.....are there no other Brexit threads? ? Revoking article 50 and holding another referendum are highly unlikely, even the extreme Remainer MP’s are reluctant to vote for that. They have already caused another three months of uncertainty for business by their actions.
I've lost count of the number of times we've been told by the leavers that we would definitely leave on some date in March or April or October and we would definitely not have another referendum and anywayif we did leave would win again.
Amazing how confident these leavers are when they've been proved to be wrong so many times.
If only to annoy, thwart and raise the BP of the remain contingent on here, I'd move heaven and earth to get us out. That aside, I'm all for leaving the ? that is the EU and the sooner the better.
