Footage showing British soldiers shooting at a large photograph of Jeremy Corbyn as target practice. I hope TM and the Defence Secretary stand up in the House today and condemn it thoroughly.

Oh damn it damn it i missed out the NOT aaaggghhh - just so distressed about the story I forgot to preview

DoraMarr Wed 03-Apr-19 10:15:57

It isn’t acceptable, no. And worrying that senior officers have allowed it.

MaizieD Wed 03-Apr-19 10:23:27

It isn't acceptable to use any recognisable public figure as a 'target'. This is appalling. But probably 'the lads' though it was a big joke...

EllanVannin Wed 03-Apr-19 10:31:28

It just shows what our society is made up of---------idiots !!

trisher Wed 03-Apr-19 10:31:31

OMG it's a bit unbelievable isn't it. On the same day that someone is being tried for plotting to murder MP Rosie Cooper, British soldiers are using the Leader of the Opposition's picture for target practice! The prospect of right wing extremism gaining power is getting more plausible.

Anniebach Wed 03-Apr-19 10:33:13

It’s what they do, unpleasant to see though , I have seen it done on army firing ranges for many years

crazyH Wed 03-Apr-19 10:34:48

NOT ACCEPTABLE ?

maryeliza54 Wed 03-Apr-19 10:35:13

There’s also for me the issue that they thought they were beyond normal acceptable behaviour and army discipline and could behave with impunity. And we give men with such arrogance and ill judgement weapons of destruction. The senior soldier in charge of the firing range must be a piece of work

EllanVannin Wed 03-Apr-19 10:41:00

In view of all the knife crimes that are being carried out and when you see this sort of thing going on you have to question why not enough is being done to prevent murders in this country ? Is it okay to have killing in mind ?

Anniebach Wed 03-Apr-19 10:41:23

Corbyn has not been supportive of the British Army, during the Falklands he called the army ‘the unemployed ‘ . He wants to reduce the number in the armed forces , they want to keep their jobs

trisher Wed 03-Apr-19 10:44:09

And that's a justification for pretending to kill him is it Annie Really? Perhaps the police should be shooting at pictures of Theresa May then given the damage she's actually done.

Gonegirl Wed 03-Apr-19 10:44:22

I think that is awful!!!

Gonegirl Wed 03-Apr-19 10:45:11

Ah! just read AB's post. Perhaps understandable then? grin

ayse Wed 03-Apr-19 10:45:36

This is not acceptable anytime, any place, anywhere. Not a good example for our younger generation. It’s just encouraging violence.

Perhaps the police do trisher

Nandalot Wed 03-Apr-19 10:54:01

Not acceptable. I don’t think any images of real people should be used. I thought they had generic drawn images if the enemy to use,

maryeliza54 Wed 03-Apr-19 10:54:16

And if they do/did it would be damn well wrong ab wrong wrong wrong.

Anniebach Wed 03-Apr-19 10:57:43

Yes it is wrong , I am not defending them just explaining why they may have chosen Corbyn,

GrannyGravy13 Wed 03-Apr-19 11:00:27

maryeliza where is this "footage"?

maryeliza54 Wed 03-Apr-19 11:03:46

Given it’s your hero JC you must forgive me for taking your explanation as your being an apologist . The first word you used was ‘unpleasant’ then you said that you knew that sort of thing went on and finally finally you used the word wrong’. Well done

maryeliza54 Wed 03-Apr-19 11:04:31

It’s all over social media - I made a deliberate decision not to share

Ilovecheese Wed 03-Apr-19 11:06:54

The footage was also on Sky news this morning.

Do soldiers have to be brutalised to be good at soldiering? I know that the job of soldiers is often to kill people, and I cannot think of how else one can be trained to kill people unless one is brutalised.
