Sunseeker, could you post some links to where effigies of Theresa May are being burned, or shown hanging from a rope, as I have not seen those.

Her effigy was burned at a November 5th "celebration" in, I think, Scotland, there have also been demonstrations where her effigy has been shown hanging - I don't recall where. Unfortunately, I do not note the date and place when I see or read these things and I am certainly not going to trawl the internet looking for them. Whether you believe it happened or not I do remember seeing them.

I think these occurred just after MT died, and were shown on the BBC and ITV news, I can remember seeing them, also the chanting of "ding dong the witch is dead".

We are talking about soldiers in the British Army - not a random bunch of people whose behaviour after Thatcher's death many people - including people who thoroughly disliked Thatcher, including myself, thought was unacceptable.

Those people represented nobody but themselves. Soldiers in the British Army represent Britain and are bound by certain rules of military conduct.

Is he the type to say 'rules is rules' and goes by the book on every aspect of the law without applying common sense and won't even put the key in the car before checking that everyone is belted up and breathalysed?

Y'know...I was just thinking (only once a day...as a treat) that lots of other countries proudly fly their flag, wave it on special days, wear the emblem on their clothes but not we English people.
Posters who have been talking about patriotism and patriots started that train of thought.
It seems to denote distasteful fervour which some people associate with TR and the BDL.
Why has such a proud symbol become something to be ashamed of and linked to despicable words and acts?
The Welsh flag has no such connotations nor has the Saltire.

Exactly Gabriella I believe that armed forces in USA get flight upgrades when wearing uniform, meals in restaurants and generally applauded.

Our personnel are unable to wear their uniform outside of “duties” needing special permission to do so.

I feel sorry that it is no longer acceptable to be proud to be British (or English even) unable to fly the English flag which has been hi jacked by extremists.
