Is it any wonder that the country is in turmoil when mature women on here reply so childishly to comments?
My post saying don’t take things too seriously on GN ( or any forum) is a wise one, since some seem to have raised blood pressure about anything they read and dislike.
MaizieD I tend to read (most) comments on a thread, including yours, even when I din’t agree with the views expressed.
Brid You are correct in saying that maybe GN isn’t a ‘lifeline’ for me, it isn’t, but it’s one of three forums I enjoy posting on.People just shouldn’t ( for their own sanity) take everything to heart, written by strangers on social media.

Thank you Dinah I'm not bothering to address my comments to each one because they are simply not worth the trouble.

a) I am not prone to "her feelings are well known to be hurt quite often" as one suggested. I doubt they will give me examples because they throw out these things without any backup

b) The woman from the council who I told about what happened was inside at the time and we walked out together and continued the conversation. I told her I didn't want to make a formal complaint but later decided I did so have done so.

c) obviously it was verbal, it was clear and no one could have heard it as anything other that we did. It was blatantly obvious and even the woman sitting next to him looked shocked.

The assumption that because I don't agree with you I am wrong about what happened should beggar belief but actually doesn't. However it does mean that I no longer respect any of you who turns my experience against me. I now consider you to be people whose opinions are not valid and it confirms my belief that you won't tell me why you want to leave as you don't have valid reasons.

Certain well know leavers on here will dismiss anything they don't like and call fact 'fiction'. That just about says it all. If one of them had someone try to convince them to vote LibDem they would be on here telling us how badly they had been treated and I am sure we would all agree with them. Shame on you

If there has been a low turn out for MEP voting then I suppose it means that few will now bother voting for any political party in a GE.
After all, this was a chance to have your say.

Nonnie Fri 24-May-19 16:33:03

lemon I've been out most of the day, do we have voting figures? Our polling station was busier than usual as was a friend's

Urmstongran Fri 24-May-19 16:39:30

I refuse to be drawn this time Nonnie. I’ve learned by experience.

Good try though.

Nonnie Fri 24-May-19 16:48:23

Yet again Urmmmmm you won't provide the facts to back up your statement. Quelle Surprise!

That was to coral toes. YKWIM

Nonnie Fri 24-May-19 16:55:17

Just seen the answer to my own question, significantly higher turnout in all areas. I see you have commented on other thread lemon was my question not worth answering?

GabriellaG54 Fri 24-May-19 16:55:53

Faragistas? Sounds ok to me. A bit Spanish. ?????

Elvive Fri 24-May-19 17:01:12

Oh Lordy Joelsnan is back out of the closet.

I wouldn’t call this significant some up, some down but not that high. Euro elections turnout figure for the North East has just been published - 32.7%
<<<<Turnout for the region in 2014 was 31.6%.

In order of turnout increase in 2019:
Durham 27.6% +5
Newcastle Upon Tyne 34.8% +4%
Darlington +2%
Stockton +2%
Northumberland +2%
Middlesborough 24.2% +1%
Redcar and Clevand 29.6% +0.1%
Gateshead 35.30% -1%
South Tyneside 33.90% -2%
Sunderland 32.30% -2%
Hartlepool 27.1% -2%

crystaltipps Fri 24-May-19 17:04:08

Some up a few % but haven’t seen any more than 45% of the electorate.

Urmstongran Fri 24-May-19 17:05:07

?
You called?

I’m a quick learner!

Nonnie Fri 24-May-19 17:08:48

My eyesight is not brilliant but it looks significant to me and I can only see one which went down

crystaltipps Fri 24-May-19 17:20:20

A couple of % up from a low base is not significant ( i.e. would not pass a standard significance test)

Nonnie Fri 24-May-19 17:22:17

Just look at the link!

GillT57 Fri 24-May-19 17:31:17

Funny how those who dismiss the turnout figures as being insignificant are happy with the same low percentage as being enough to change the future for the rest of us in the bloody referendum.

Nonnie Fri 24-May-19 17:46:20

Gill ah but that was different. That suited the purpose. Do you think when it all goes belly up they will realise or will they blame something else?

GillT57 Fri 24-May-19 18:05:46

Anything that goes wrong nonniewill be the fault of the EU. You know the one, the democratically elected body that few could be bothered to cast their vote for.

MaizieD Fri 24-May-19 19:04:26

Interesting link, nonnie. Thanks.

varian Fri 24-May-19 19:24:26

I'm looking forward to hearing the results on Sunday night. My guess is turnout will be up, Brexit "Party" will get the most votes but not as many as expected. Of course, I could be wrong.

crystaltipps Fri 24-May-19 20:24:01

I think NF was hoping for a huge increase in turnout, especially in those areas he’s been targeting with his rallies. Doesn’t seem to have happened - not much increase since 2014. Could be Labour voters staying home.

Urmstongran Sat 25-May-19 09:17:08

Hey GabriellaG54 apparently John Crace from the Graun was at the same Brexit Party rally you told us you were off to last Sunday!

Here from this morning’s paper:

“Last Sunday, I went to a Brexit party rally in Frimley, Surrey. The venue was the Lakeside Hotel and Country Club complex, well known as the setting for international darts contests.

Inside, 1,200 or so people had gathered to hear Nigel Farage and most of the party’s other would-be MEPs for the south-east region. The atmosphere was roughly as I had expected: highly charged, defiant, often strangely celebratory.

But what was most striking was the slickness of the presentation: brisk, elegantly structured speeches and warm-up videos...”
