Precisely maize and maw ?

The similarity is striking if you modernize Mosley’s sentiments.

The problem though is we have no war looming and so Farage is not seen as such a threat at the moment. Give him time.

Elvive Sun 26-May-19 10:39:02

Gutted now I can't join that Movement thingy.

MaizieD Sun 26-May-19 10:39:44

They don't even seem to need modernising, Whitewave. I can't find a transcript of any of NF's speeches but what I've seen reported (and I've looked at right wing sites for this) sounds strikingly similar.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 26-May-19 10:45:09

It is all gradually converging. Farage must be thrilled

confused * Elvive* there’s always Tommy Robinson ??

Remainers seem to spend an disproportionate amount of time talking about Brexiteers in general and NF in particular.
I wonder why this is, when they hate dislike him so much and pour scorn on those who want out.
We really must be rattling their cage.

Nonnie Sun 26-May-19 10:56:03

Bit worried about whoever said they have seen all the NF rallies on YouTube. Have they watched any other party rallies? Seems very sycophantic to me and hardly balanced.

I went to a Roy Jenkins rally once in my innocent days. I didn't realise they were for the already converted and asked him a difficult question. He had a tantrum! I now realise he had expected everyone there to be a supporter.

GabriellaG54 Sun 26-May-19 10:59:34

As the donation was made in my name only, the name of my OH and colleague will not appear.

MaizieD Sun 26-May-19 10:59:51

Isn't it hustings where politicians expect to be challenged?

Whitewavemark2 Sun 26-May-19 11:02:11

Thanks for the heads up re donation gg54 useful.

MawBroonsback Sun 26-May-19 11:03:09

Sounds like a tax dodge GG

MaizieD Sun 26-May-19 11:04:08

Well, it makes a refreshing change from arguing the toss about whether the the EU is an Evil Empire or a perfectly benign institution.

Nonnie Sun 26-May-19 11:08:00

EU is not 'perfectly' anything but that is not a reason to leave it. Why is everyone 'against' things and no one promoting what is good and what we will lose?

crystaltipps Sun 26-May-19 11:24:28

I’m not sure who is in a “cage” but no doubt anti intellectual, no time for experts, nationalist extremists would like to put any opposition into one. Yes, populism and fascism are frightening to anyone with half a brain, and should be challenged.

GabriellaG54 Sun 26-May-19 11:28:32

Que sera sera...???

Mycatisahacker Sun 26-May-19 11:56:58

Far right and far left are equally frightening.

I find momentum equally frightening

Whitewavemark2 Sun 26-May-19 12:27:19

maw what’s the difference between a tax dodge and money laundering?

MawBroonsback Sun 26-May-19 12:28:16

Not a lot!

Whitewavemark2 Sun 26-May-19 12:30:56

Didn’t think so.

GabriellaG54 Sun 26-May-19 15:16:13

Anyone for tennis? ?

GabriellaG54 Sun 26-May-19 20:24:03

It was a good game. I practised my forehand and backhand. winkgrin

Baggs Sun 26-May-19 20:32:58

I found this an interesting ten minute talk by David Goodhart on R4 democracy and populism.

Drum1234 Sun 26-May-19 20:44:19

Donations to political parties are not tax deductible.

Elvive Sun 26-May-19 20:48:31

Oh no, is somebody telling a wee story?

Drum1234 Sun 26-May-19 20:50:29

My thoughts too, Elvive.
