beacuse its NOT a baby until it can survive outside the womb agnurse simple .For now that limit is around 24 weeks and in extreme cases its right that terminations can and do take place as late as that .BUT ...most are done within the 13 week limit when life is certainly not viable .What RIGHT do you think you have to dictate how others live their lives ? Their body their choice !
As a mother who lost multiple pregnancies in early stages 7 -11 weeks and one who was born live at 33 weeks I can tell you its a very different experience and a very different effect on my life .The early miscarriages didn't have names or a sex and we knew they couldn't have survived .My DAUGHTER who died at 4 days ...42 years ago this week was a very different case .I grieved for a BABY not a collection of cells

Alabama is only one many states introducing draconian abortion laws. Georgia intends to make it an imprisonable offence for a woman to plan to travel out of state for an abortion. It also seems to be banning abortion in the case of an ectopic pregnancy on the grounds that the blastocyst – it's not yet an embryo, let alone a foetus – can be removed from the Fallopian tube where it is "stuck" and then implanted in the uterus. No medical technology for this process exists. At the same time, it is banning the use of any form of contraception that prevents implantation – IUDs and oral contraception.

I think part of the Bible Belt attitude towards contraception and abortion unfortunately stems from a mistaken belief that a man "plants a seed" and that a woman is merely some kind of incubator.

That's not true. Rather, we believe that sex is intrinsically ordered towards procreation. To put something artificial in the way of that is to treat the other person as nothing more than a plaything for your own enjoyment. (That said, it is acceptable to have sex knowing that it is unlikely to result in pregnancy - for example, if a couple is sterile through no fault of their own, if they are of advanced age, or if the woman is in an infertile time in her cycle.)

The purpose is not to ensure that women are kept barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen. The purpose is to ensure the right to life of unborn children.

The whole point of abortion is to destroy a baby. That's the intent. That's why it is unacceptable.

If a woman has an ectopic pregnancy, it is morally acceptable to remove the Fallopian tube. The intent is to save the life of the mother. The baby dying is an unintended side effect. This falls under the "double effect" principle.

Normal male and female relationships is not one treating the other as a "plaything". It is two people expressing their love for each other in a mutually satisfying way. The only way someone can be classed as a "plaything" is when one person is unwilling.

My OH LOVES it when I treat him like a plaything for my own enjoyment! We have completed our family yet plan to have sex for many more years to come!

DH and I also had lots and lots of sex prior to planning to "procreate" and that was bloody brilliant too. As was the sex I had with men I had no intention of starting a family with..

agnurse - I find your view point on abortion abhorrent. There is something sinister about the idea of all these powerful white men making decisions that will impact most severely on poor women, many of them black, brown, hispanic. Many of them women like those of us posting here - when we were younger, or our daughters, nieces, good friends.
I came across a tiny number of women who'd had multiple abortions when I was working. Without exception, they were extraordinarily vulnerable, mental health / addictions /abusive relationships/ awful abusive childhood experiences. They struggled with the children they had. I simply can't see how they or any children would have benefitted from them being refuse early abortion. It isn't usual for women to have multiple abortions. I don't know any woman who 'used abortion as contraception' -

My girls and my boys know to use condoms to enjoy sex (that’s the married and unmarried ones) my dds know if they get pregnant and don’t want a baby it’s their body their choice.
