Head teacher at Anderton County Primary school has been threatened because the school issuing the Outsider books. Jess Philips is the local MP, she attended today to support the school and was told by one protester that those who support the use of the books were islamophobic. I'm in support of the schools, the books and Jess Philips.

If some parents of a six year old think that the earth is flat should we stop teaching geography?

Gonegirl Wed 22-May-19 19:47:29

That's a fact. Not a religious belief. Different.

This is going to be a problem, how can No Outsiders teach children that they are in the wrong body, that men can have babies and males can be a Mummy and then teach these same children about biological sex organs and menstruation aged 11?

What would motivate a group of people to gain funding to develop something like No Outsiders that parents say is causing confusion to young children and produce documents that breach so many rights of the child?

Ilovecheese Wed 22-May-19 20:01:34

No Outsiders doesn't teach all those thing though.

DoesAnyoneKnow Wed 22-May-19 20:13:54

When you teach a child they are born in the wrong body, that's what you're teaching them, that males are women and can be a Mother, lesbian and females are men who are a Dad and they can become pregnant. That men have a manvagina and women have a lady penis that is an woman's sex organ. Did you Google cotton ceiling? That sexually, biology etc are social constructs.

But really does anyone sensible actually believe this?

I guess a very tiny minority may do but i mentioned your worries to my Dds who are only 20 and they were baffled!

Never heard of it.

Is it really mainstream?

Iam64 Wed 22-May-19 20:20:30

Ilovecheese is right, No Outsiders isn't teaching children they're in the wrong body. It's age appropriate, fits with the laws and mainstream social beliefs in our country and doesn't in truth challenge any ordinary folks.

there's no suggestion teachers will tell children their mummy and daddy are wrong as Gonegirl fears. Most primary school teachers are skilled at negotiating the different cultures, lifestyles and belief systems their children present.

The only fear I have is that some Muslim/evangelical/orthodox parents will use this issue as an excuse to take their children out of mainstream. They're the very children who need to be exposed to more than rigid belief systems that say eg, if your'e gay, you'll burn in hell.

Having read the posts on this thread I can only wish that these lessons, age appropriate as the are, and all the way through education had been available for some of our posters.

DoesAnyoneKnow Wed 22-May-19 20:24:36

I don't think it's mainstream amongst most people, it's mainstream amongst professionals, students union types in LGBTQ+ communities and politicians, it's like the Emperor's new clothes.

Look for yourself, this was parliament today.

Women and equality committee and woman's aid can't define what a woman is.

DoesAnyoneKnow Wed 22-May-19 20:28:19

What is your definition of woman?

Eglantine21 Wed 22-May-19 20:32:15

Umm, a very, very angry person - if you’re anything to go by....

What a load of old nonsense. Nobody should be excluded, mocked or harmed but why must sex and sexuality be pushed onto little children?

Mycatisahacker Wed 22-May-19 20:52:23

I have had periods, have given birth 3 times to 4 children and am now officially through a hideous menopause with HRT.

I do get you are concerned Does and in the light of the hideous Alabama situation women’s rights need to be guarded but as you say its ‘student union types’ and are generally silly kids best ignored.

DoesAnyoneKnow Wed 22-May-19 20:53:45

It's like children discovering Father Christmas isn't real and shooting the messenger , alas this is the reality of queer theory and it's being pushed top down onto society as an ideology. I recommend you have a cup of tea and watch MPs in action.cafe

Mycatisahacker Wed 22-May-19 20:54:07

There my first paragraph defines woman!

Well apparently you're a transposing bigot, like myself because you believe woman is based on biology.

DoesAnyoneKnow Wed 22-May-19 20:56:23

Only a few students that don't matter? That MP got death threats for believing a woman is defined by biology.

This is what happened when an MP last made it clear she's a non queer theory believer, hence why MPs today wouldn't define woman.
