Head teacher at Anderton County Primary school has been threatened because the school issuing the Outsider books. Jess Philips is the local MP, she attended today to support the school and was told by one protester that those who support the use of the books were islamophobic. I'm in support of the schools, the books and Jess Philips.

Mycatisahacker, the middle ground is probably the method of quietly providing the newer generation of children with liberal education while trying to calm fundamentalist parents, who in this country are shouty noisy Muslims.

Let's hope that extreme Right Wing politicians don't start shouting about religious laws!

From the article: "In England, relationships education will be compulsory for all primary pupils from September 2020."

Really? In primary schools? Maybe I'm with the muslim parents on this. Perhaps leave the little kids alone? Save it for when they're a bit older.

It will be very interesting to see how this pans out.

some in the LGBTQ radical wing have shown themselves to be mysogynistic and hateful with the Cis woman nonsense and have themselves harassed and threatened women meeting to discuss the problematic self ID and how this impacts on women’s lives. Women are easily pushed aside I don’t think these Muslims will be so easily silenced.

Again I completely support Jess Phillips on this but it’s never going To be as easy as just talking and trying to educate religious zealots. That won’t work.

I assume this will be how it will end to be honest.

@Mycat on page 1 - I think the crux for some parents is apparently they've lost their right to decide what should b taught to their children. As Gonegirl quotes
From the article: "In England, relationships education will be compulsory for all primary pupils from September 2020."
Which seems to mean that parents can't withdraw their children. Education law overrides parental rights.
I've heard that as a result of this some parents are opting for home tuition for their children.

Ukip spokesman on LBC now backing the parents and calling for more nationwide protests.

Very interesting bed fellows if it’s ok to use that term on this thread grin

He just said ‘erect peniss’ oh errrrr

Gonegirl Tue 21-May-19 09:46:42

Well, I think this was just asking for trouble. Deliberately provocative?

deputy head leads Pride march

Mycatisahacker Tue 21-May-19 09:47:00

Gonegirl Tue 21-May-19 09:48:50

maryeliza54 Tue 21-May-19 09:49:22

So GG a little Muslim child comes into school spouting homophobic comments s/he’s learned at home? What should the teacher do? Or of course any child parroting learned prejudice from any home?

Gonegirl Tue 21-May-19 09:49:35

WTF are you listening to? grin

Mycatisahacker Tue 21-May-19 09:49:44

Gonegirl

Yep this is going to be interesting.

As in most issues I can see both sides which is very annoying. grin

Maybe 11 plus ages would be more appropriate and a compromise??????

Gonegirl Tue 21-May-19 09:50:19

I would hope the teacher would have a quiet word Mm.

Mycatisahacker Tue 21-May-19 09:50:35

Mycatisahacker Tue 21-May-19 09:52:53

maryeliza

At my kids middle school circa 2004 a child was suspended for calling another child a black b........ the kids were 10!

maryeliza54 Tue 21-May-19 09:54:39

If other children hear discriminatory comments being made, what good would a quiet word do?

Eglantine21 Tue 21-May-19 10:02:57

There seems to be a lot of misinformation about what primary school relationship education is going to be.

Teaching children that different lifestyles exist
That people should be treated with respect even if their lifestyle is different to yours

And yes some of the children in your class will have two parents, one parent, step parents, no parents, same sex parents.

They can see that with their own eyes.

Gonegirl Tue 21-May-19 10:07:21

Oh maryeliza54 - good luck to you in your obvious quest to turn our little shits into angels.

If religion should be kept in the home, shouldn’t family life
styles be kept in the home ?

maryeliza54 Tue 21-May-19 10:08:19

Agree Eglantine.Theres a lot of mischief making around this topic some of which I believe springs from people’s own deep seated and maybe unconscious prejudices. The ante is consistently upped so that people seem to end up believing that detailed instructions on how to have gay sex is to be given.

maryeliza54 Tue 21-May-19 10:08:56

What a stupid response GG
