Well ?

Whitewavemark2 Mon 27-May-19 16:19:22

blondie???

lemongrove Mon 27-May-19 16:29:11

Well, WWM2 found your sneery ( and dare I say elitist) comment funny Blondie, though I have never heard anyone clap when the plane lands .....which airline do you normally fly with? wink
The BP had just over 14% of the vote in Scotland btw.
Highly unlikely that Scotalnd will ever vote to leave the Union.

lemongrove Mon 27-May-19 16:29:28

Typo...Scotland.

lemongrove Mon 27-May-19 16:31:16

If the EU voting doesn’t concentrate minds in Parliament to get on and leave the EU in October, then nothing will.

Mycatisahacker Mon 27-May-19 16:35:41

Actually flying to Ibiza in 1983 my mil and fil and lots of passengers clapped when the plane landed.

Dh and I thought it was hilarious but nice.

I always find those who sneer usually have come from nothing and are desperate to hide that fact wink

Mycatisahacker Mon 27-May-19 16:36:40

No idea of the airline think that was before easy jet grin

Grany Mon 27-May-19 16:39:36

Yes Labour have been very clear what their polices are General Election peoples vote. Corbyn knows the country is very divided and he and his party are trying to bring the country together what's best for everybody.

Emily is very forthright though maybe not towing the party line, along with Tom Watson he speaks for himself I hope we get a new deputy leader Laura Piddock she is not a career politition and backs Corbyn she is passionate a genuine socialist and in politics for the right reason.

Here is Laura introducing Corbyn at a rally in Carlisle

Grany

Not working for them though is it?

Mycatisahacker Mon 27-May-19 16:46:32

That’s kind of the problem you actually have to convince the electorate not just your conference echo chamber

Grany Mon 27-May-19 16:47:40

The reason the EU vote was for Remain or leave Brexit Party people showing what side they are on. Not like a GE more people turn out and Labour are leading in the polls now.

GillT57 Mon 27-May-19 16:52:14

No Mycat that is not being disenfranchised, it is being let down by party manifestos which bear little relation to what actually happens when the party gets power, remember Cameron and Osborne's promise that nobody would have to pay more than £35k in elderly care costs? That was a vote winner with the typical older, home owning Tory voter, and what happened? It was shelved for 'review' as it would be expensive. If we all stopped voting because we felt as if we had been misled, none of us would vote.

More than 9.1m now. On current tally last Thursday

9,489,558 voted for parties explicitly opposed to No Deal Brexit, and Brexit fullstop*

and
5,904,955 for parties explicitly for No Deal backers **

* (LD/ Lab/G/SNP/PC/CH/SF/UUP/All/SDLP/UKEU/WEP)

**(BXP/UKIP/TUV/ED)

GillT57 Mon 27-May-19 16:55:20

Why would it make them go ahead with leaving lemon? We have already mentioned that 12m Brexit voters did not exercise their democratic right to vote for the EU this week, so why on earth should this shrinking/can't be arsed/changed their mind/indifferent group be the deciding group? There is even less of you now. If either of the two main parties decide to go forward on a Brexit or crash out of EU basis they are bonkers and totally unfit for office.

winterwhite Mon 27-May-19 17:05:23

I think it will be disastrous if a new Cons leader just ploughs on with Brexit at any cost. What is the justification? Where are the numbers?

Nonnie Mon 27-May-19 17:19:13

hmm hmm "I always find those who sneer usually have come from nothing and are desperate to hide that fact" Yes, that sounds quite 'sneery'

Nonnie Mon 27-May-19 17:20:26

Mycat why would anyone want to 'hide the fact' that they 'come from nothing'? Surely they should be proud of their achievements? hmm hmm

Johno Mon 27-May-19 17:30:06

Farage is a stooge. It is important to acknowledge the clear 100% MSM anti UKIP. And the 100% MSM for Farage and his Brexit Party, on every hour of every day being glorified and worshipped. Nothing the MSMS claimed on UKIP or Gerard Batten has ever been true or backed up with evidence. I find this fascist North Korea style to covering politics extremely worrying. This whole charade was an organised agenda in order to destroy UKIP. We will see Farage cave-in to the Remainers.

lemongrove Mon 27-May-19 17:31:43

Gill do you need to ask?
Conservatives ( the Party) have seen the consequences of not securing Brexit, most of their Leave voting supporters
Diverting to the Brexit Party. If there was to be a GE then likely the same would happen.
Labour ( the Party) have also seen the consequences of their sit on the fence, shall we have another referendum or not stance, and have lost a lot of support as a result. From both leavers and remainers.

The Conservative Party won’t go for a GE as it has too much to fear just now, but after the BP securing 29 MEPS ( Lib Dems securing 16) they know they must unite now behind a new leader, and leave the EU either with a reasonable deal or if that can’t be had, then no deal.

crystaltipps Mon 27-May-19 17:31:51

Why would 30% vote of a 40% turnout make any difference to parliament?

lemongrove Mon 27-May-19 17:34:49

You cannot be serious Crystal (surely!)

Johno Mon 27-May-19 17:35:42

Because we had a referendum. You can not undo the referendum.

Johno Mon 27-May-19 17:37:26

Ok then..on that basis your saying no referendum should ever be honoured.

I do feel a bit sorry for the Scots who want no-deal Brexit because they can't seem to see what a disaster it will be and I think they will be a disgruntled reality who will never appreciate the benefits of self-government until the catastrophe has happened

Please can you explain how you truly know what a no deal Brexit disaster will be.
I am of the opinion that no one knows until it happens, and on prvious doom laden predictions it more likel will never happen. That is unless theglass half full section of our society continue with their apathy and ca't do attitudes.
