The equality and human rights commission have launched
an investigation

GracesGranMK3 Thu 06-Jun-19 21:17:24

POGS surely Hansard would only report what was said, not an analysis of whether what was said was true or not or have I got the wrong end of that particular stick?

Anniebach Thu 06-Jun-19 22:32:34

So no MP is to believed

GracesGranMK3 Thu 06-Jun-19 22:44:54

Annie is that really the level of your understanding. If so I apologise for expecting more.

Bridgeit Thu 06-Jun-19 22:50:58

GGMK3.
Gross arrogance is neither desirable or beneficial on this site. We are not attending a Boardroom meeting, we are offering opinions , either accept others & their opinions with good grace or don’t put yourself through the pain of participating.

Anniebach Thu 06-Jun-19 22:56:17

GracesGran if you have a need to apologise I will give you a list of all the insults you have poured on me .

GracesGranMK3 Fri 07-Jun-19 00:39:50

I apologised for what seemed to need an apology Annie. If you would like to stop your spiteful little comments I would not have anything to reply to.

Anniebach Fri 07-Jun-19 09:06:21

My criticism of Corbyn in never spiteful, I don’t ‘do’ spiteful, I do not make personal attacks on posters.

You will not succeed, you have tried before.

Right , back to thread

Labour - Anti semetism

To balance things can I post a complete dismissal of trueblue's comments about human rights in Israel.
Israel is seen as being more politically free and democratic than neighboring countries in the Middle East.[3] According to the 2015 US Department of State's Country Reports on Human Rights Practices, Israel faces significant human rights problems regarding institutional discrimination of Arab citizens of Israel (many of whom self-identify as Palestinian), Ethiopian Israelis and women, and the treatment of refugees and irregular migrants. Other human rights problems include institutional discrimination against non-Orthodox Jews and intermarried families, and labor rights abuses against foreign workers
Things are not as perfect as has been stated, being better than the others may be good but if you are on the receiving end of discrimination it matters.

No country is perfect, there are discrimination cases in all countries, but Israel is an oasis of good practice in the midst of it’s surrounding neighbours.

Anniebach Fri 07-Jun-19 12:10:21

The new labour MP for Peterborough has explained her ‘like’ on Facebook

‘‘Theresa May has a Zionist slave master angenda’

She hadn’t noticed it !

GracesGranMK3 Fri 07-Jun-19 12:18:55

No country is perfect, there are discrimination cases in all countries, but Israel is an oasis of good practice in the midst of it’s surrounding neighbours. (Fri 07-Jun-19 11:50:43)

How imperfect is it okay to be in your book lemongrove How imperfect before you will let others call it out without calling them antisemitic?

Urmstongran Fri 07-Jun-19 12:29:07

Labour MP Jess Phillips said that while she was glad the Brexit Party had been defeated in Peterborough 'I cannot be gleeful or proud as I'd want to be because of how it shows that anti-Semitism is becoming normal in the party'.

The Birmingham Yardley MP said: 'Lisa ignored and endorsed anti-Semitic things, I'll take her explanation and apology at face value and look forward to her proving, as others have, that actions not excuses alone can heal.

'But with every case the parties values chip away and our ability to stand up against hate erodes.'

Anniebach Fri 07-Jun-19 12:55:48

I too read Jess Phillips comments and agree.

Iam64 Fri 07-Jun-19 13:53:48

Is there a country in the world where all races, faiths and cultures have equality? Here in the UK, black boys are more likely to be searched, more likely to be excluded from school, in prison unemployed etc etc. Black women are less likely to have successful academic careers than white women.
There is a growth of anti semitism and islamophobia. Some Muslim activists are demonstrating against equality outside our primary schools.
Sorry for going of piste Annie, my point really is the focus on all that is bad in Israel, whilst largely ignoring the oppression of many people in neighbouring countries.

Anniebach Fri 07-Jun-19 14:05:15

I fully agree with you Iam, for me the party has become anti
semetic simply because Corbyn is obsessed with Israel and Palastine and like sheep his worshipers follow, I doubt all who tweet anti semetic abuse really care about Palastine or
neighbouring countries.

GracesGranMK3 Fri 07-Jun-19 14:17:53

I agree Iam. Inequality and the roots of inequality are widespread. But there should be no hierarchy of racism, no hysteria, no lack of understanding of those who don't understand and no embargo or prohibition on the calling out of hateful actions based on race or any other discrimination. Nor should it be used as a political stick to beat those whose views we don't share. As a country we should be educating everyone to understanding the what, why and how of unreasoned prejudice and be prepared to question it wherever it occurs.

GracesGranMK3 Fri 07-Jun-19 14:19:22

Annie I find your posts just as prejudiced as many you complain about. But you will never see it.

Iam64 Fri 07-Jun-19 14:25:47

GGMk3 - are you suggesting that there is a hierarchy of racism?

Lyndiloo Fri 07-Jun-19 15:00:44

Maybe I'm being a bit liberal here then. (Re: my post on page 12).

Look at it this way: if I were to say that there is a lot of child sexual abuse going on in the Catholic Church, does that make me 'anti-Catholic'?

I don't think so ...?

And even if my statement was not correct, but I believed that it was, have I no right to voice it?

Anniebach Fri 07-Jun-19 15:06:29

Would you accuse any RC. Priest of being scum and they should be in the gutter ?

trisher Fri 07-Jun-19 16:04:26

I might had I been a victim of abuse Annie. And if a RC priest had abused any of my DCs I might say even worse things!

Anniebach Fri 07-Jun-19 16:08:41

So trisher , you accuse all RC priests of being child abusers ?

MaizieD Fri 07-Jun-19 16:32:32

Annie. How on earth do you jump from trisher's' *if statement to accusing her of saying that all RC priests are child abusers?

Fennel Fri 07-Jun-19 16:39:03

Maizie likewise.
plus emoticon shaking head in disbelief.

Anniebach Fri 07-Jun-19 16:48:59

I asked a question ‘would you accuse any RC Priest’ , I did not say ‘any RC Priest who had abuse’ there has not been answer

Should all RC Priests suffer threats and verbal abuse because
of the actions of some ?
