Did I read somewhere that a commission was looking into his funding as there were concerns apparently about irregularities or illegalities.

Has anyone heard anything on the subject?

Charleygirl5 Tue 28-May-19 16:03:49

Only vaguely, nothing concrete.

maryeliza54 Tue 28-May-19 16:05:04

Urm you’ve spelled his name wrongly in the thread title, surely it should be Corbyn?

Urmstongran Tue 28-May-19 16:05:47

??

maryeliza54 Tue 28-May-19 16:06:58

Joke, urm joke.

Urmstongran Tue 28-May-19 16:09:32

Well give me a clue next time!! Put a cheeky grin in or something.

Aren’t jokes meant to be funny?

No Urmston I haven’t seen anything more about it, there either isn’t anything worth reporting on it or it’s taking a long time.

MaizieD Tue 28-May-19 16:27:24

You read it on here, Ug. The Electoral Commission to be precise.

I haven't heard anything more, but I haven't heard that he's in the clear, either.

maryeliza54 Tue 28-May-19 16:37:11

Well let me think - why on earth would MSM not widely report an investigation into the Great Leader. Nope. I’m stumped. Can anyone help?
.

Urmstongran Tue 28-May-19 17:13:33

Thanks MaizieD

But why no reports in say The Guardian maryeliza?

I just wondered about it all as haven’t heard anything about it.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 28-May-19 17:14:40

Yes that’s right. They have visited his offices and now looking into it.

Urmstongran Tue 28-May-19 17:24:26

Okay thanks WW

How long until they report on their findings - do you know?

Whitewavemark2 Tue 28-May-19 17:27:59

I don’t think they’ve said. I guess it depends if they find anything

maryeliza54 Tue 28-May-19 17:29:38

www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/may/25/eu-watchdog-considering-nigel-farage-investigation-arron-banks?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
It was in the Guardian and a big story over several nights on C4 news.

Urmstongran Tue 28-May-19 17:54:40

Thank you maryeliza I must’ve missed it. I’ve not been watching as much tv here in Malaga.

I read the link you posted and it says:

The agency usually takes two months to carry out an assessment, which will examine whether the case falls under its remit and if there is “sufficient suspicion of fraud, corruption or any illegal activity affecting the EU’s financial interests”.

So that’s from Olaf (the EU commission on a French acronym).

Seems the U.K. Electoral Commission is a separate investigation. No idea where that one is up to.

How can a private Start Up Company have members who are electable? And how can the Owner of said private Start Up Company stand for election in a GE????????????

Urmstongran Tue 28-May-19 18:03:57

Peterborough by election on 6 June will give you the answer (I hope!) jura2
?

Whitewavemark2 Tue 28-May-19 18:09:26

They can’t jura they have to form a proper political party which Farage will hate as his narcissism can’t stand not being in total charge.

I’m waiting to see the manifesto

maryeliza54 Tue 28-May-19 18:12:33

The BP is registered with the electoral commission. How it decides on its candidates must be up to itself within the relevant law and its own internal processes. So of course NF can stand at the GE as long as he’s not still an MEP.

Urmstongran Tue 28-May-19 18:20:37

Farage has promised a ‘full slate’ of policies once the European elections are over, telling a rally in West Yorkshire that they include ‘political reform, more help for the regions and the scrapping of ludicrous projects like HS2’.

GabriellaG54 Tue 28-May-19 18:25:51

I heard that the Met have been informed about a hole in their funding. Word is that they are looking into it but your guess is as good as mine as to whether there is anything to be found amiss.

maryeliza54 Tue 28-May-19 18:27:30

Apparently he wants to abolish the House of Lords.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 28-May-19 18:32:15

Yes I heard that mary and there was a couple of other things but I can’t remember what. He’ll be ok as long as he can be dictator.

maryeliza54 Tue 28-May-19 18:35:21

I’m all for replacing the H of L with a second chamber as I think there are real issues with uni-cameral set ups.

Urmstongran Tue 28-May-19 18:56:32

He wants to scrap HS2. Gets my vote.
