Well, there's 10 left in the race to be our next Prime Minister and voting starts tomorrow.

Who would you LIKE to be the next leader of the Tory party?

And who would you BET on?

annie I knew I was on a loser but I live in hope. I guess as long as you keep the stalking confined to GN it is doing no real harm.

Callistemon Fri 14-Jun-19 10:40:41

Good God, a privately educated, Oxbridge graduate, who has spent the whole of his adult life in the the hot house of political London.
M0nica didn't he spend years in Brussels as a European correspondent, the author of many Euromyths?

Whitewavemark2 Fri 14-Jun-19 10:42:18

I can remember in something like 2015 the big joke at which we all merrily laughed was that a Trump would be running the White House and Johnson would be PM??

Callistemon Fri 14-Jun-19 10:44:08

I said not long ago that Boris would never be PM.

Must polish my crystal ball, it looks a bit smeary.

Blinko Fri 14-Jun-19 10:44:12

I think Boris is probably a manipulative narcissist. It's hard to tell through the continual bluster. Having said that, don't most MPs lie at some point, or at least change their views over time?

Saying this, at the grand old age of 72, I have never before lain awake at night despairing that this country is on the road to disaster. I hope I am wrong.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 14-Jun-19 10:47:14

I don’t think any of us thought that the country would be gripped by such madness.

I’m beginning to wonder how far more we have to fall.

Labaik Fri 14-Jun-19 10:47:18

Why are people happy to bring up everything that has happened in the past but then happy to ignore all of Johnsons misdemeanours/lies etc? Annie; I agree with you about Corbyn. As a Labour voter [till now] I've always regretted the fact he was chosen as leader, but your constant sniping at him is uncalled for.

Ginny42 Fri 14-Jun-19 10:51:18

One man's cringeworthy is another man's sound common sense.

FarNorth Fri 14-Jun-19 10:54:31

Rene72 I'm sorry you're having an awful life with an obnoxious bully.
I can't imagine he'd improve whether Corbyn got in or not, tho.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 14-Jun-19 10:54:43

ginny42 ????

Anniebach Fri 14-Jun-19 11:00:47

Labaik are none of Johnson’s misdemeanours from his past ? And surely comparing one party leader with a soon to be party leader isn’t sniping

Labaik Fri 14-Jun-19 11:08:15

No Annie; and I agree with a lot of what you say about Corbyn. But everything that happens or is written about you turn it into an anti Corbyn tirade. A weak opposition has fuelled the crisis that this country is in and I hold Corbyn responsible for that and am very angry about it.

Labaik Fri 14-Jun-19 11:08:51

"The way for politicians to allay their anxieties about leadership debates is to have as many as possible.
"So you can make a cock-up in one and say something sensible in the next. So that's the way to do it."
The interview was part of Sky's campaign to make sure debates happen.
Twitter users have been sharing the video as a reminder to Boris Johnson about the claims he made just ten months ago.
Presenter Tamara Cohen said: "Remember this? @BorisJohnson backing Sky's campaign to Make Debates Happen. He says: 'My feeling is that they are essential....'"
Tory councillor Thomas Kerr wrote: "Common sense from Boris here, take it we'll see him take part in the #ToryLeadership debate on Sunday then ....."
Twitter user @BevansFur ysaid: "Yet more flagrant hypocrisy from the biggest buffoon in British politics."

M0nica Fri 14-Jun-19 11:19:42

Callistemon Does that count as real life? Brussels has been, until recently merely an annexe to Westminster.

Elvive Fri 14-Jun-19 11:20:55

yes Blinko, me too.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 14-Jun-19 11:24:25

Johnson’s leadership bus.

Callistemon Fri 14-Jun-19 11:25:48

No, it doesn't count at all M0nica, I just wanted to point out that he did spend some time 'abroad', so to speak, and was the author of such gems as bent bananas etc.

Callistemon Fri 14-Jun-19 11:26:39

Brussels has been, until recently merely an annexe to Westminster.
Some would say the reverse is true!

Urmstongran Fri 14-Jun-19 11:28:58

Actually thank you petra after yesterday’s post from Elvive I noticed the similarities in style with the old Lily65 and I had the very same thought!

Elvive were you Lily65?

Sometimes a change of name just won’t cut it. Personal traits win through!
?

If I’m wrong I’d be surprised.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 14-Jun-19 11:31:20

I thought there were rules about pursuing other people’s GN names?

Intimidation isn’t a nice trait

Whitewavemark2 Fri 14-Jun-19 11:36:58

After three bloody years, & despite mountains of evidence to the contrary, a significant portion of the country remains in thrall to fact-free pantomime toffs braying that Brexit is deliverable & desirable. They won’t explain why it’s broken & can’t describe how they’ll fix it.

Urmstongran Fri 14-Jun-19 11:38:20

Neither is bitchiness Ww and the similarities are glaring in my opinion.

Oh well, leopards and spots.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 14-Jun-19 11:42:42

What on Earth was bitchy about me questioning whether the rules had been broken, and then suggesting that intimidation isn’t a good trait? Surely you would agree with that statement?

Urmstongran Fri 14-Jun-19 11:53:28

Not you being bitchy, obviously Ww
Elvive yesterday.

And I’m glad it isn’t just me who thinks it. I know she won’t respond.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 14-Jun-19 11:56:09

Oh thanks for your reply ug I always seem to get it wrong. Must try to do better?
