Well, there's 10 left in the race to be our next Prime Minister and voting starts tomorrow.

Who would you LIKE to be the next leader of the Tory party?

And who would you BET on?

GillT57 Thu 13-Jun-19 15:27:00

jura2. My feeling exactly. FFS indeed.

jura2 Thu 13-Jun-19 15:34:19

Going viral - worth a read

Every one of the contenders is shabby and corrupt. What a bunch of malignant wasters!

Too True Agree with you.

LadyGracie Thu 13-Jun-19 15:53:16

Well said Peardrop50, I totally agree.

Curlywhirly Thu 13-Jun-19 15:53:19

Boris for PM? Ye Gods, you couldn't make it up! Is that really the best they can do? We will be the laughing stock of the world.

EllanVannin Thu 13-Jun-19 15:54:46

Boris is bluffing his way through all this. He might be an academic but boy oh boy he hasn't got any sense. He's one crafty, cunning individual who's laughing at the general public who can't see through him . The " Will Hay " of politics ! All he's doing is appeasing the public with his Brexit vote when he's probably a closet Remainer at heart.

Rory Stewart hasn't got the strength of character to lead the party . He's made no difference to the prisons system !

My interest in all parties has sadly waned as they're there for their own ends and not those of the public who put them there.

Esther is out of it, Menopaws

Neilspurgeon0 Thu 13-Jun-19 16:21:14

Great reference Luckygirl but I still bet he’ll get the job!

Quizzer Thu 13-Jun-19 16:27:54

For the sake of our country- anyone but Boris

GabriellaG54 Thu 13-Jun-19 16:28:33

Boris is topping the bill by a street. Leadsom, McVey et al are out.
Hunt is in second place with under 45votes while BJ gathered over 110.

Glad Esther McVile and Andrea Loathsome are out of the race they would have been truly dreadful. Doris is a lazy, lying scumbag who will bluster and wheedle his way to being PM and I can’t wait for his inevitable downfall. He gets the media attention and I’m sure he’s great at cocktail parties but will fail as PM. ( but the bar has been set pretty low by his predecessors).

Ironmaiden Thu 13-Jun-19 16:30:19

Jeremy Corbyn. The Tories have ruined the country. Capitalism is killing it. I honestly think we need a socialist government for everyone and to rebalance the scales.

Glammy57 Thu 13-Jun-19 16:32:37

JillT57 and Jura2 - I agree!

jura2 Thu 13-Jun-19 16:34:49

Swears- a lot ... but spot on as usual.

Firecracker123 Thu 13-Jun-19 16:37:12

Because Boris has the support of over a third of the MPs he will be in the final two, so Boris will be PM as he is the grassroots favourite.

silverlining48 Thu 13-Jun-19 16:42:15

Well he certainly isn’t our favourite going by this thread.
He is not mine either, and as someone said we have allowed ourselves become the laughing stock of europe.

Glammy57 Thu 13-Jun-19 16:42:23

Anni1 - Yes, I am under 75, but also very worldly. We do not all fit into little boxes. I know several people over the age of eighty, whom you would consider “lefties”. Life experience has taught many of us to be more compassionate and empathetic! I’m not a Tory hater but, sadly, so many of them come across as being very judgemental.

Aepgirl Thu 13-Jun-19 16:42:50

Don’t get political on GN.

paddyann Thu 13-Jun-19 16:43:45

Excuse my ignorancefirecracker but isn't it just MP's and party members voting for the leader...the "grassroots" aren't allowed anywhere near it!

crystaltipps Thu 13-Jun-19 16:44:02

He doesn’t have any policies, certainly none that are consistent from day to day in the way he puts them. I don’t actually think he knows what he would do to get us out of the Brexit crisis.
He doesn’t always say the same thing, partly because he doesn’t always remember what he said the day before.
He tends to work day to day and just get his way through it - he’s not a man who’s interested in detail."
A rather generous assesment from one of his fellow Tories. Others who know him well and have worked with him call him a 'f***ing idiot'.

crystaltipps Thu 13-Jun-19 16:47:03

I think * firecracker* thinks a few hundred superannuated white, middle class males living in the English south eastern shires are the “grassroots”

Devorgilla Thu 13-Jun-19 16:47:37

Curlywhirly, we are already the laughing stock of the world. Lost the title briefly when Trump was elected, but definitely fighting hard to get it back. Just thankful I am not a member of the Tory Party and won't be responsible for inflicting any of them on our country as PM. It's like watching the worst car crash in slow motion and knowing you can't do anything to stop it.

Firecracker123 Thu 13-Jun-19 16:51:30

paddyann yes by grassroots I meant the party members vote on the final two and he is their favourite.

GabriellaG54 Thu 13-Jun-19 16:56:48

Harmonygranny
As climate change affects the atmosphere and the atmosphere is 'tainted' and 'coloured' by emissions worldwide, you might be better directing your anger towards the China, India and Russia plus the USA which are HUGE polluters and that pollution eventually reaches us in the UK.
Whatever we do in the way of curbing emissions, it is only 1% of the emissions worldwide.
