Most of the Conservative MPs are intelligent , I must suppose. I am not being sarcastic, I truly dont know why they want Johnson.

How much did the newspaper offer the neighbour to listen to eavesdrop on next door?

maxdecatt Sat 22-Jun-19 00:05:21

Crystalips, you have a knack ....of missing the point.

crystaltipps Sat 22-Jun-19 05:57:17

Maxdecatt, you made the point that being out of the EU would mean a decline in tourism and a decline in carbon emissions as we wouldn’t be travelling to Europe or buying stuff from them. You also said the Green Party don’t want clean air as they support the EU, and that we should all support Boris as being out of the EU means cleaner air. I challenged those weak, unsupported, erroneous arguments -which point did I miss?

I don't think it matters what Boris does, his supporters will still think he's the moon and stars. All else is, after all, nothing but project fear....

lemongrove Sat 22-Jun-19 08:28:12

Everybody is assuming that Johnson will win the vote, it rarely happens that the favourite is chosen, so Hunt has every chance.
I expect every PM has the odd ding dong with their wife btw just as GNers will do.It’s called being human.
If he does become PM, the latest girlfriend may not make it to Downing St anyway.

Grammaretto Sat 22-Jun-19 08:34:30

My DS and I had a private bet. He said, before this latest drama, it was inevitable that Boris would be next PM. I said nothing was inevitable and he could stuff up or........
Yay. Who's in the lead now??
If it wasn't such a tragedy it would be funny.

Lets face it the media loves a bit of dirt to fling and with Boris they’ll probably dig up quite a lot of it. I’m sure his fans will dismiss it, whilst meanwhile devouring every bit of dirt on Corbyn or any other opposition politicians.

Anniebach Sat 22-Jun-19 09:17:38

Johnson fans will support him regardless just as Corbyn fans
support him regardless

Whitewavemark2 Sat 22-Jun-19 09:23:49

lemon give Johnson time. It’s at least a month before his coronation, plenty of time to get bored and move on to the next shag.

Alexa Sat 22-Jun-19 09:26:54

For many years maybe most of my life I have been sentimentally gullible about MPs . I really believed that MPs were conscientious towards their country, patriotic even. Now I believe that MPs do this work to earn their livings, and will take no risks with the interests of themselves or their business associates. MPs are above average intelligent and The Conservative Party is their business association.

In view of their carelessness with the welfare of our dear old country, and our global environment and climate, I have to conclude that Conservative MPs are in it solely for the money they earn.

His latest stramash hardly fills me with confidence about our future Prime Minister.
Involving the police in a domestic?
I suppose if he makes No 10 the copper on the door will be handy.

Gonegirl Sat 22-Jun-19 09:31:37

Can you imagine what neighbourly relations are going to be like now?! shock He's gonna have to move out, never mind where to.

Gonegirl Sat 22-Jun-19 09:33:26

I think his first comment in his hustings should be to ask if anyone knows a sure way to get red wine out of an expensive sofa.

He needs a bit of humour now to get people back on-side.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 22-Jun-19 09:36:29

Might be important

Tim Shipman @shippersunbound
Dominic Grieve effectively saying Tory MPs will prevent Boris Johnson commanding a majority in the Commons and that the Queen will have to call on someone else

maxdecatt Sat 22-Jun-19 09:37:18

Crystalips you posted your comment just before 6 am this morning. You are an early riser! I have just surfaced at 9.25am.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 22-Jun-19 09:42:54

So if Johnson can’t command a majority when he goes to the Queen, he’s toast surely?

It seems that a GE is a dead cert before the summer is out.

Callistemon Sat 22-Jun-19 09:43:54

I wonder if Marina is having a wry smile to herself.
Perhaps he's met his match this time.

My crystal ball tells me that he may well not get the keys to No 10 either, with or without Carrie!

stramash tinking
This thread is extending my vocabulary no end grin

Ps what is tinking - surely they weren't knitting?

Whitewavemark2 Sat 22-Jun-19 09:45:21

callistemon only if he can command a majority, and it is looking very unlikely at the moment.

A GE is more likely

Callistemon Sat 22-Jun-19 09:48:20

Try white wine Boris (on the stain, not drinking it). Then upholstery shampoo.

maxdecatt Sat 22-Jun-19 09:50:28

Soda water for red wine stains.

Sexism - free pass?
Racism - free pass?
Incompetence - free pass?
Corruption - free pass ?
Plan to assault journalist - free pass?
Vote rigging - free pass?

Now Boris Johnson is getting a free pass? from the Media on possible domestic violence.

maxdecatt Sat 22-Jun-19 09:54:51

My history lessons tell me that when there is a deadlock in parliament the Queen can command a general election. As she did in Australia when the government there could not get their budget passed by the parliament. I think this was about 25 years ago, well before my time!

Whitewavemark2 Sat 22-Jun-19 10:00:22

Not quite that simple max but you get the drift. The Queen will before then see if anyone else can cobble together a majority, but I think it almost entirely unlikely.

loopyloo Sat 22-Jun-19 10:03:32

Wish I'd put money on Hunt when he was 7/1. He's now 4/1. Not that I'm encouraging gambling.

Gonegirl Sat 22-Jun-19 10:04:42

I knew the Boris thing would be fun. It's started already! [rubs hands gleefully]
