Most of the Conservative MPs are intelligent , I must suppose. I am not being sarcastic, I truly dont know why they want Johnson.

Elvive Wed 19-Jun-19 21:41:20

" our own people" Are you for real?

Johno Wed 19-Jun-19 22:06:20

Because the illusion is that which is presented to us. The fact is the Establishment controls everything. Sadly people in UK are like sheep. They will believe any old crap the MSM puts in front of them. The MSM is controlled by the Establishment elite. Which is why the BBC will not admit to its self-destruction with many millions refusing to pay the TV licence fee. Johnson is a clown but he hs charisma.. charisma does not need depth of principle or conviction. The Establishment knows that many millions of people will follow, like sheep, the clownish, Ant n Dec approach from Boris Johnson. I will not, never have and never will.

Makes me feel sick, very sick. If people can support such a man... and Trump on the other side of the water- then our world is in real tragic trouble.

Despair and disgust.

Annecan Wed 19-Jun-19 22:49:02

JOHNO....I assume that you think you are far superior to 'the majority' of people (the sheep, as you call them) and that unlike them you have the intellect to know what is best and to see the truth....that's a very common attitude of anyone , these days , who doesn't like what other people think.

lemongrove Wed 19-Jun-19 22:49:13

There are very few people on GN who are championing Johnson it seems to me.

If he is chosen by party members then it shows that party members are a breed apart.......just like the ones who elected that first class chump Jeremy Corbyn.

MawBroonsback Wed 19-Jun-19 22:55:11

Your post of 22.06 johno is tosh on so many levels, it is hard to know where to start.
Your comments about sheep, the “millions who don’t pay the TV licence fee, ” BoJo’s “charisma” , etc etc etc
Don’t expect anybody to take you seriously.

Callistemon Wed 19-Jun-19 23:02:28

"our own people" Are you for real?

Are you saying that pensioners who may be living in poverty, young families who need to use foodbanks, the homeless, anyone needing the NHS etc, ie anyone in this country in need should not be helped then, Elvive?

Are you for real, as you so eloquently put it?

MawBroonsback Wed 19-Jun-19 23:02:44

Oddly enough, I suspect BoJo is the only one who could somehow do a U turn and keep us in the EU - if it serves his political purpose. He is quite unscrupulous.

Callistemon Wed 19-Jun-19 23:03:40

He was a fence-sitter before he made his decision to campaign to leave.

tallulahbelle Wed 19-Jun-19 23:18:37

I think they just want Brexit. Once they have another General Election people might make a different choice.

GabriellaG54 Wed 19-Jun-19 23:35:19

Hm999
Why would you want to apologise if you believe that which you wrote is true?
That's rank hypocrisy.

Callistemon Wed 19-Jun-19 23:51:03

There are very few people on GN who are championing Johnson it seems to me.

Certainly not 50 or 60 - I think there are scarcely that number who contribute to the political threads and I haven't seen many who support him.

It's all academic anyway.
Unless the vote goes out to Gransnetters too.

Perhaps since the greater numbers reflect a wish for brexit and boris, could it be that your minority viewpoint may actually not be gospel as you arrogantly suggest. Our own people is a self explanatory concept, so to explain.... society is formed within a geograhical area usually referred to as a country and the citizens pay taxes which are spent on the citizens of that country,s needs. Some citizens may be unable to work to generate a contribution and sone may have no intention of so doing. Often those who contribute least and are often of lower intellectul awareness of the way the system should work have a conception that the pit containing taxpayers contribution is bottomless and there develops a mentality of entitlement that extends beyond the country. When the pit starts to become exhausted the elefted representatives have to decide where priorities lie, toward those who form the pit or those who do not. Putting america first exemplifies one train of thought supported by a majority of states in the usa. It's actually known as democracy!!!!!

Apricity Thu 20-Jun-19 03:39:14

People who are 'impartial and educated' usually don't have to advertise these qualities quite so blatantly. Impartiality and education are apparent in the quality and strength of a person's argument and informed discourse on a topic rather than a self proclamed status.

Anyone got a shovel handy? That pit obviously needs lots more work so keep digging I&E.

Impartialandeducated Thu 20-Jun-19 04:42:17

Well done Apricity...QED..a classic case of hari-kari. This is why Boris is liked so much..he advances an argument rather than as you have done to simply try to attack an individuals perceived qualities. I am sure you do have some valid thoughts which might have positively enhanced the discussion!!!!!

crystaltipps Thu 20-Jun-19 05:35:04

As Boris is a proven liar, he may actually be the one to keep us in the EU.

jacig Thu 20-Jun-19 06:29:15

For the same reason the U. S. A. want Trump.

Grammaretto Thu 20-Jun-19 07:20:58

It's a nightmare. I've scrolled through this thread and just feel despair.
I wish I could see something good in BJ. I can't.

grammargran Thu 20-Jun-19 08:01:06

Grammareto like you, I have scrolled through this entire thread and have dropped deeper into despair with each page. I am approaching 80 and never have I witnessed such animosity in the very air we breathe. It’s got to the stage that when meeting anyone new, one is on the alert for any nuance that suggests Remain or Leave. I can see now how easily civil war breaks out. As for the OP, it’s just blatant ambition, it’s noticeable how they all say ‘party’ before they mention ‘country’. I’m hoping Boris will self destruct - his minders can’t be with him 24 hours a day if and when he’s PM. And why oh why after everything that’s now coming to light are we hell bent on leaving - it’s absolute madness .......

David Davis supporting Johnson.

BBC question asked “should a prime minister be truthful?”

Davis was asked 5 times before he answered it with a qualified answer,

BBB “ should the prime minister be responsible when handling public money - Johnson squandered £64million on bridge plus other vanity projects?”

Again Davis was asked 4 times before answering with “£64 million is peanuts in the scheme of things”

So yes he agreed that Johnson squandered money but said it didn’t matter.

Oh well.
There is nothing democratic in this process, indeed this type of coronation only dates back to 1998 so it hasn’t even got the gravitas of age.

gmarie Thu 20-Jun-19 08:08:19

Oh my gosh, I was literally laying here awake in the USA fretting about OUR president and all of the people who showed up to support him at his re-election rally! Paba24, I thought you were talking about him (Trump) at first!! (liar, cheat, narcissist...). I will never understand the appeal. sad

Annana Thu 20-Jun-19 08:12:32

S‘funny, how out of step the Conservatives are with the People

Urmstongran Thu 20-Jun-19 08:14:33

I think Remainers especially don’t like Boris because they fear he WILL deliver Brexit.

For those of us who voted Leave it’s about bluddy time. 3 long years of MP’s in the HoC trying to twist the referendum vote back to how they thought it would have been.

It’s been a shock for them and a trial for those who have been waiting for it to happen! Either Boris will get it done or Nigel Farage will. And at least this time the MP’s saw sense and refused to vote No Deal off the table.

gmarie Thu 20-Jun-19 08:16:55

Oh my goodness, I am literally laying awake here in the USA fretting about our president and wondering why so many people turned out for his re-election rally yesterday. :p Paba24, at first I thought you were talking about HIM (Trump - liar, cheat, narcissist)! Am actually a bit depressed about it...

Whitewavemark2 Thu 20-Jun-19 08:20:35

Don’t forget annana that there are only 150k of them. A tiny community. And of course many will be new members fresh from the Brexit Party that they cant join as members, but can try to influence Brexit by nefarious means.
