They don't want you - just your money!

He could have lived with her stateside if he had abdicated . Plenty of minor aristocrats do. He could have made a fortune from personal appearances and kept them quite well. Chosing when to do appearances and chosing when to shun it. She could have continued her career....

But they came back here to live a royal life... so playing the coy "why cant I have privacy" Di card is just not going to wash

Gonegirl Sat 06-Jul-19 13:16:51

I don't think you can buy people's private lives!

notanan2 Sat 06-Jul-19 13:17:27

I can totally understand why Harry wants privacy for his son.

He doesn't though!
He wants a westminster christening, all the royal perks..

They could be in a big gated comminity in La right now, they are rich enough to buy privacy!

Gonegirl Sat 06-Jul-19 13:17:58

Of course, the baby could have a big birthmark on his chin and they want to keep that under wraps.

Gonegirl Sat 06-Jul-19 13:18:11

Only joking!!!

Gonegirl Sat 06-Jul-19 13:18:52

Westminster? It's Windsor isn't it? confused

notanan2 Sat 06-Jul-19 13:20:10

"We're not telling you!!" is classic childish (Di style) attention seeking tactics.

If they hadnt made a point of not telling who the god parents are, not many people would care....

Gonegirl Sat 06-Jul-19 13:20:20

If they were in a "big gated community in LA right now", he wouldn't be able to do all the work he does. Neither would she when her maternity leave is over.

Sorry grin yeah thats what I meant lol

Gonegirl Sat 06-Jul-19 13:22:23

And it's NOT a "secret christening" as the Mail is making out. We wouldn't know about it if it was.

notanan2 Sat 06-Jul-19 13:22:29

They could work plenty, on their own terms. But they would have to be self sufficient!

Gonegirl Sat 06-Jul-19 13:23:05

I was hoping William and Kate hadn't gone to the wrong place notanan. grin

Gonegirl Sat 06-Jul-19 13:23:30

I mean the royal duties they carry out.

notanan2 Sat 06-Jul-19 13:24:49

That is exactly the point!

They could have a private life!
They dont want one. They want a royal profile and royal events!

They could have had a private chapel christening and nobody would know or care!

They chose to have a Wibdsor christening with disingenuous shyness and coyness..

SirChenjin Sat 06-Jul-19 13:26:34

With their closest celebrity friends in attendance...

notanan2 Sat 06-Jul-19 13:28:47

Um hmm.... one wonders how much of a social conscience H would retain if nobody was watching and it wasnt accompanied with all the perks and praise?

I feel that W would still want to do good work if nobody was looking. As Charles does. They do it out of duty, not to make themselves look good

notanan2 Sat 06-Jul-19 13:32:07

Some quite major royals do very low profile charity work. But not harry, nor Di for that matter

eazybee Sat 06-Jul-19 13:32:41

It would be lovely if the Press did not print any photographs of the Christening, (not a hope) then the Sussexes could achieve their desire to bring their child up as a private citizen. They could also bring him up on private money too.
This foolish behaviour will rebound on them, and diminishes the work most of the Royal Family do. Then who will pay for the £5,000 copper baths and more carpets to replace the new ones their ill-trained dogs muddied, according to last Sunday's 'What the Papers Say'? The Press is already snapping at their heels.
What a stupid pair.

Gonegirl Sat 06-Jul-19 13:32:59

The Windsor chapel is quite local to them. grin
Did you really want them to cross the road to the Baptist?

notanan2 Sat 06-Jul-19 13:34:14

E.g. I know someonw who works with learning disabilities. Press would absolutely freak out their service users. A major royal visits semi regularly and supports them a lot.. no fuss..

Charles and Will do that kind of thing. Harry doesnt

notanan2 Sat 06-Jul-19 13:36:04

There would be many private low profile options available to them & their budget...

.... if they really wanted low profile that it...

Callistemon Sat 06-Jul-19 13:37:33

I do hope you weren't lining the street all by yourself at Westminster, notanan
grin

Anyway, it's the Daily Mail, innit
They seem to loathe Meghan
Lots of Gransnetters loathe the Daily Mail, ergo …. ?
but it doesn't seem to be working like that

Archie hasn't been given a "Royal Title", he is down the line of succession.
We were treated to some photographs of the christening of Miss Zara Phillips all those years ago - she doesn't have a royal title either.

Perhaps we'll see some official photos soon?

Callistemon Sat 06-Jul-19 13:38:58

Did you really want them to cross the road to the Baptist?
They don't get baptised until they're older do they? Full immersion?

Callistemon Sat 06-Jul-19 13:41:35

They did pay for fixtures, fittings, copper baths, carpets etc themselves.
Let's not get the waters muddied as well as the carpets!

I did wonder if a copper bath is a sensible idea with a soon-to-be toddler around - do they get hot on the outside?

Jabberwok Sat 06-Jul-19 13:46:23

Strange the Queen has a "prior engagement "!! bearing in mind this christening was probably planned weeks ago, and if not, surely it could have been arranged for when the Queen didn't have an engagement?! Perhaps the tacky show bis celebs are not to her taste!!
As for duty, George V1th was far more dutiful than his elder brother, who wasn't very dutiful at all!!!! Ditto the Duke of Clarence and younger brother who became George Vth, so it's not always the right way round!
Prince Harry is truly his mothers son!!!!
