Trump, using the language of the playground again.

Calling one who dares to criticise him (albeit in a leaked document/telegram) "wacky" and "a very stupid guy"

Funny that he never seemed to think that of Kim Dannoch until Dannochs opinions of Trump came to light. hmm

Although it seems to be the psychiatric term of the day, Trump does seem to be exhibiting the traits of a Narcissist.

I am constantly astounded by US citizens who applaud Trump “because he gets things done” (so did Stalin and under the Nazis the German trains ran on time)

I agree. I am also astounded by our own citizens who seem not to care how we leave the EU as long as we leave. Cries of ”just get out/just get on with it” are common. No doubt many believe BJ is now our Man because he will ”get things done”; never mind the cost.

Iam64 the system as I see it is closer to failure than flawed-

The increase is twofold - Its due to the rise in the number of crossings and the implementation of Trumps separation policy- But the practice of requiring children to appear in court alone for their deportation proceeding is not new- Its traumatic for those old enough to grasp the seriousness of their circumstance yet too frightened to express themselves- The toddlers of course have no idea- But no child is "marched" into court-

The situation at the border is a humanitarian crisis- But since it's also a situation to capitalize upon and generate votes it won't be over any time soon-

It's getting worse, beyond locker room talk, beyond potty mouth comments- All that remains is a thin veil between what he Tweets and what he means to say straight up but doesn't-

Even though some of his party members speak out against what he says, they support his policies, and if they support his policies they will support him as President -

What makes me laugh is the way Trump thinks he is making America great again. He isn't, he is making it a laughing stock.

The reason he got so up tight by what Sir Kim Darroch said in those leaked emails, is that every embassy in Washington DC is sending home reports saying exactly the same thing- and he probably knows it because the security services are intercepting them and reading them.

Everyone in the world (except, possibly the North Koreans) know that he is a nasty racist mysoginist bully of limited intellectual ability.

As Burns said (and Trump's mother was a Scot) O wad some Power the giftie gie us, to see oursels as ithers see us!

Iam64 Tue 16-Jul-19 08:59:04

MOnica, I agree with your post but, I'd add he isn't making the USA a laughing stock, he's setting it up for isolation and attack.
If his closest allies, ourselves and the rest of Europe find him offensive, untrustworthy, racist, misogynist and in truth, stupid and dangerous, heaven help the US in any serious negotiations towards world peace. Who believes a word he says>. Who could trust him on any level?

Fennel Tue 16-Jul-19 09:03:50

Another worrying thing is that he still has a lot of support in the USA. Wild West mentality?

Whitewavemark2 Tue 16-Jul-19 09:09:25

Trump has apparently successfully got people talking about his racism, rather than him being implicated in rape alongside his friend Epstein.

Prince Andrew is being implicated.

lemongrove Tue 16-Jul-19 09:14:26

In a way Fennel yes, I think so, because The USA is a vast country made up of States which are very different to each other as well as far apart geographically.Generally tv tends to portray only NY or California or Texas, but when you think of the wide ranging States and people within there are bound to be huge differences.

lemongrove Tue 16-Jul-19 09:15:56

The Democrats need to put up a strong candidate to challenge DT.

Gonegirl Tue 16-Jul-19 09:46:13

This time next year their elections will be in full swing. After that he will very likely be gone. His popularity is falling, especially after this last lot - the four Democrat Congresswomen.

suziewoozie Tue 16-Jul-19 09:53:35

I don’t know what you’re on Gone but I’ll have some please if it has that magical fantastical effect ?

rosecarmel Tue 16-Jul-19 10:20:19

An African American activist was murdered- She was discovered in the trunk of her car- This took place in Louisiana-

M0nica Tue 16-Jul-19 10:27:46

Gonegirl, you are an optimist - he is more likely to be re-elected.

Urmstongran Tue 16-Jul-19 10:58:21

The Dems are infighting. Pelosi - like most of her party - represents wealthy elites whereas 'all these people have their public whatever' in the working class districts from which they were elected. That was never supposed to happen.

Unless they find common ground and unite, Trump will win his second term, by default.

BlueBelle Tue 16-Jul-19 11:04:58

He’s gone even further now with his latest attack on the four black women
Disgraceful disgusting, Loose mouthed ignoramous

Urmstongran Tue 16-Jul-19 11:07:36

BlueBelle aren’t we supposed to say ‘women of colour’ nowadays as they are not all black?

Gonegirl Tue 16-Jul-19 11:09:16

projects.fivethirtyeight.com/trump-approval-ratings/

Gonegirl Tue 16-Jul-19 11:09:49

Well, I wondered that would be mentioned!

Gonegirl Tue 16-Jul-19 11:11:11

There are a lot of people of colour in the States. He's talking himself out. IMHO.

Urmstongran Tue 16-Jul-19 11:17:16

No, he’s very popular with the minority and ethic groups. If the Dems can’t get behind a credible candidate and stop the infighting, Trump will storm it again. His ratings are high. Their economy is booming. He is not a war monger (he is the only President to have gone over to N. Korea for talks) and his slogan ‘MAGA’ is appealing to his followers.

Polls?
Remember the ones here that said Remain would win?

People are notorious for telling pollsters what they think is socially acceptable then doing the exact opposite in the secrecy of the poll booth.

GillT57 Tue 16-Jul-19 11:42:13

Actually urm his slogan should be MAWA (make America white again). Disgusting individual with idiotic followers. He goes to these rallies of the adoring and draws energy from the crowd like a vampire needing blood.

Gonegirl Tue 16-Jul-19 11:48:34

I'll be very surprised if he's still popular with any ethnic people after this latest.

Urmstongran Tue 16-Jul-19 11:57:09

He is though.

Fennel Tue 16-Jul-19 12:10:26

I found a very good satire on youtube about Trump supporters a few years ago - can't find it now. But there are loads of others, like this one:

GillT57 Tue 16-Jul-19 12:17:30

I admire your hope Gonegirl but I suspect Trump will get back in. Everytime he says something offensive and disgusting I think this is it, he has gone too far, but nope, he carries on, supported by his adoring fans. Whilst I can, a little, understand why people in USA support him, the people he has made promises to ( but generally failed to keep), I really cannot get my head around people in the UK, people on GN, who see what he does, hear what he says, read what he Tweets, have nothing to gain from him, but still think he is a great guy. If I had the misfortune to meet a person such as him socially, I would be appalled by his vulgarity, uncouth, brutish behaviour, why should his position as POTUS make him somehow exempt from societal norms of accepted behaviour?
