Hilary Clinton got more votes in total than Trump, but Trump had more representatives in the electroal college because he won in the states who sent the largest number of electors to the electoral college that voted for the next President.

The same thing will happen again.

The U.S. is made up of two separate countries, comprised of two distinctly different groups of people- One country leans towards vicious policy and laws and the other civil- Although Trump has introduced both, he's done so in a manner that comes with a catch- And that catch is that one would have to vote for or support a prejudice president -- one way or another-

Sadly, there are people in this country who express similar views. On a discussion on Jeremy Vine yesterday a caller said that Gina Miller had no right to get involved in the Brexit debate because she "wasn't born here" and she wasn't "English", and her support of the EU was a disgrace.

I have no particular feelings either way about Gina Miller but I thought this was quite clearly a racist remark - funnily enough being voiced just after someone had said there was definitely no element of racism in the stance of some Brexiteers.

I haven't followed this story closely, but were the four women criticising America?

I ask because judging by Trump's comment they were.

Jennifereccles. look it up. He, Trump, made ghastly remarks about four elected representatives. They were female, non white, democrats. Don't, please, take Trump's comments as being an indication of what is right or appropriate. Day6 I stick by my statement about Trump's follower; have you seen the rallies? Frightening examples of baying crowds of supporters rallying behind the sexist pig standing on the stage. Would any of you people who think he is great like to work for him? Like your daughter to work for a man like that? What about if your daughter or grandaughter came home from work and said she had been groped or told to 'go back to where she came from', would you tell them it was acceptable? I truly hope not, so why is it acceptable for him to say or do these grossly unacceptable things to other people's daughters or grandaughters? I agree Gill57. Just because a lot of people voted for him doesn't make everything he says or does OK. There have been several dreadful leaders that people have voted in - leaders who have encouraged racism, murder and even genocide. Because they were supported by the majority doesn't automatically make the majority right or the leader deserving of respect.

This applies everywhere - especially here where in the fraudulent referendum of 2016 a small number of the voters believed lies and got us into this present mess. Opinion polls have consistently shown a Remain majority for more than two years as folk have woken up to the truth that any kind of brexit would irrevocably damage our country.

Everyone living in the US, except the descendants of those living there when the first Europeans arrived, is an immigrant. Donald Trump's mother was a Scot. Should we send him back to the drug infested country with more drug deaths than any other developed country that he comes from? OK he was born in the US, but his mother wasn't. Much like the Congress women he criticised.

All these women are on the left wing of the Democratic party, described as 'Progressives' in the US, which in British terms means they would be Lib Dems rather than Labour supporters. Their campaign causes are ones we take for granted. Free or very cheap medical care for all, a living minimum wage and an end of a punitive immigration service and the shocking conditions many detainees are kept in. -so little access to water they were told to drink water from the toilets.

You do not have to come from a non-white background to be an immigrant, nor to come from a crime-ridden, drug infested country. There are European countries that get close to that description.

There are very many Republican supporters who agree with every word that Trump says and the more the Democrats shout and scream the better Trump likes it. His America first attitude plays well with voters, including many of those with second generation Hispanic and Black origins - they don’t want more migrants either.

It is strange to us having such a right wing confrontational agenda, nationalism wins him votes, it’s the same for Putin in Russia, is Boris hoping for the same!.

Davidhs, There is more to Trump's policies than just immigration and three of these women were born in the US.

Yes, he has supporters, but his policies only play well with half the electorate, Hilary Clinton actually got more votes than him in the last presidential election and his support is gently eroding, not gently building.

He will win the next Presidential election, but more because there is still no credible front runner among the Democrats, rather than that he has built up his support.

If a Democrat does come through and gain the popular support, like Obama, they could beat Trump.

Monica, “America first” is the policy that will get Trump re-elected, confronting the liberals in the Democrat Party is part of it and he does not care what they say. Over hundreds of years migrants from every part of the world moved to the US, very very few return to their roots because they have far better lives in the USA which is literally a nation of migrants.

He just can't help himself, can he? Does he have no idea about how his comments will be viewed, or does he just not care? I guess the latter.

We all know that he is passionately patriotic and there is nothing wrong with that of course.

On the BBC news last night he was waving a piece of paper about and said something about some 'terrible, terrible comments' made by the women.

Of course they are perfectly entitled to criticise his policies, and being Democrats it's their duty to, but I think their comments must have gone beyond that, judging by his reaction.

jennifereccles you cannot judge anything by Trump's reactions, that is a assuming that Trump is an intelligent sentient person - and he isn't.

All his reaction means is that their comments caught him on the raw, and he reacted the only way he knew how, by picking on something common to them and using it to insult them. He had a choice: the comments could be mysoginist or racist. This time he opted for racism. Next time it will probably be mysoginy.

But just watch how he react to anything, reason and rational never come into it.

This mornings news reports say that Mr Trump insists he didn't want his supporters to chant "send her back". He doesn't like that chant and did his best to contain them.

Ah, that's ok then. The fact the video footage shows the truth must be fake news, what a relief. There I was, thinking the Potus was a dangerous racist, stirring up his base support group. I'd begun to fear he was inciting violence but I can relax now (can't I?)
