So it's Boris

I know we knew this would happen but it didn't stop my heart sinking when it was confirmed. It's not even about party politics. It's about him. The country is in such a terrible position and the thought of him being the one trying to solve all the problems is farcical at best and utterly depressing.

Indeed sirchenjin. Many of us don't want either of them. Being unhappy with the coronation of Johnson does not by any stretch make me a supporter of Corbyn. Although some of you may see things in a binary way and are delighted that you have your man in place telling you he will deliver what you think you voted for, even more of us are unrepresented due to the unpalatable choices of Johnson or Corbyn. But don't let that spoil your celebration.

SirChenjin Tue 23-Jul-19 17:21:59

in the opinion of everyone who knows the man are a set up to keep him out of the coming Independence referendum

shock

You are absolutely deranged. He has been accused of some of the most serious crimes against women and you think it's political?? Give you head a shake and try and clear some of that extreme nationalist propoganda - it's really not healthy.

POGS Tue 23-Jul-19 17:25:52

Sir Chenjin

The point is after a political party Leader resigns it is his/her party who decides the successor.

It is irrespective of whether they are the governing party or not.

It is irrespective of the percentage allowed to vote

It is democratic and follows party rules.

Just shouting foul play as some do when it suits them and keeping schtum when it doesn't is shallow IMHO.

SirChenjin Tue 23-Jul-19 17:26:15

For anyone who doesn't know, Mr Salmond has been charged with 14 offences: nine charges of sexual assault, two of attempted rape, two of indecent assault and one of breach of the peace.

Honestly, I don't get riled but as someone who has been on the receiving end of a one of the above (not by AS) I am furious that you have attempted to politicise the motives of these women who have taken the brave decision to report this man. Shame on you. It just goes to show exactly what these women are up against in Scotland angry

EllanVannin Tue 23-Jul-19 17:27:22

Not for long,I suspect. Wait until the novelty wears off.

jura2 Tue 23-Jul-19 17:29:00

Do you really think a nuclear war would stop on the border sad
??? individual countries and borders are irrelevant when it comes to the environment too, and so much more.

Mainly, my children and grandchildren live in the UK - where we always intended to return (we came to help my very elderly parents- now gone)...

But keep having a dig - if it makes you feel better.

Our very hard earned Pensions are being hit badly- less 60% of income at the moment - and probably worse to come. But in the grand scale of things - perhaps not the worst thing to worry about. And I am not asking you to bother to care either.

jura2 Tue 23-Jul-19 17:30:21

POGS, but you know full well that the current PM will decide far far beyond the Party - the country's future is now in his awful hands- and a lot more besides.

Grany Tue 23-Jul-19 17:34:01

OMG that idiot Boris is PM

The only reason Labour has the biggest party membership in Europe is because of Corbyn like it or not

POGS Tue 23-Jul-19 17:34:28

Paddyann

I stand corrected.

Question, given you don't think the UK PM should be elected by the party :-

If Nicola Sturgeon resigned as Scotland First Minister should the SNP decide her successor or should there be a new Scottish Parliament Election?

SirChenjin Tue 23-Jul-19 17:35:00

POGS - I have already agreed with those points, but I note you don't address the rest of my post.

Callistemon Tue 23-Jul-19 17:40:24

Britain's emBorisment. Bring on the clowns. I cannot believe that Britain has sunk this low. There is nothing else to say but God help you all - and that is from an atheist!

I take it that you have experience of embarrassing PMs Apricity - doesn't your present one have two left feet?
The latest in a line of gaffe-prone Australian PMs.
Is Boris related to Tony Abbott by any chance?

POGS Tue 23-Jul-19 17:40:28

Jura

"But keep having a dig - if it makes you feel better."
----
You are the one to continually point out you live in Switzerland.

You are the one who raised a post declaring how frightened you feel.

Don't be surprised if your own words are used to ask you question! That is what happens to all of us.

So your fear is Johnson will push the ' Nuclear Button'?

SirChenjin Tue 23-Jul-19 17:44:47

Pretty sure Jura lives in France

Callistemon Tue 23-Jul-19 17:46:38

Switzerland, SirChenjin smile
which always remains neutral

POGS Tue 23-Jul-19 17:47:52

Sir Chenjin

I stand corrected because of your post.

Is that atisfactory and that is not sarcasm I will answer questions if addressed to me.

jura2 Tue 23-Jul-19 17:49:09

on the border, on Swiss side - 450 metres! No, I don't make a point of it- many GN members do ...

POGS- won't even bother to reply ... honestly.

jura2 Tue 23-Jul-19 17:55:14

from Paris via several towns down France - we have met people from all over the world and all asked what on earth is going on in UK, and how on earth could Boris ever become PM and what a disastrous effect it will have - way beyond the UK. Some of you really seem to live in some sort of surreal, weird bubble sad

jura2 Tue 23-Jul-19 17:55:29

last few days

SirChenjin Tue 23-Jul-19 17:57:24

I stand corrected - but really, what does it matter if a poster says they're from?

SirChenjin Tue 23-Jul-19 17:59:22

Unless you're chanting 'send her back' of course

westendgirl Tue 23-Jul-19 18:00:44

Interesting listening to Ian Hislop, ed of Private Eye and who has worked with the Court Jester on HIGNFY.I gathered he does not have a very high opinion of BJ and so we should see some interesting articles.
I'm also getting heartily sick of the toadying attitude of MP's , obviously on the job search.

maddyone Tue 23-Jul-19 18:03:10

SirChenjin, I’m not going to waste my time imagining things, there’s absolutely no point. On the other hand, you can imagine away all you like, it’s not illegal.

I prefer facts, not imagining.

Luckygirl Tue 23-Jul-19 18:03:42

I repeat - he is a known liar and a cheat. That is not in dispute.

Does no-one care about integrity? Should it not be expected from a PM?

Blinko Tue 23-Jul-19 18:07:14

I sincerely hope that his supporters have spotted some hitherto hidden abilities that have passed over heads of the rest of us. Otherwise this country will end up in deep doodoo in the not very distant future...
