Who do people vote for?

Remainers will be split between the LibDems and Labour, so neither party will win.

Leavers will be split between the Tories and the Brexit Party, so ditto.

It may be a well and truly Hung Parliament.

Very interesting times indeed.

Lessismore Tue 03-Sept-19 12:44:41

Miche, we are not a great nation. The Celts will be off and who can blame them.

Labaik Tue 03-Sept-19 12:46:24

We will be little England when Brexit results in an independent Scotland and a united Ireland...and yes, I do believe in this country and it's people and the way so many are fighting to uphold it's integrity at this moment in time makes me proud to be British...

Anniebach Tue 03-Sept-19 12:49:15

Labaik please stop insulting Wales, we are not a county of
England

Labaik Tue 03-Sept-19 12:52:26

OK;we will be Little England and Wales then [vassal states of America]….

wicklowwinnie Tue 03-Sept-19 13:20:23

Thank you for your welcome GillT57, yes, I am new to this. I wonder if anyone can tell me why my posts have a mauve background instead of a plain white one? I am nearly 90 and new to the Internet as well.

GracesGranMK3 Tue 03-Sept-19 13:20:49

You have to put up with Wales being insulted, if you choose to see it like that, Annie. Once England and Wales stand alone - which I feel is sure will happen if we leave on no-deal - it will be called England by most people.

Anniebach Tue 03-Sept-19 13:22:54

Rubbish

whywhywhy Tue 03-Sept-19 13:24:04

I think we should have another referendum instead of an election. We cannot keep having different PMs as the country is just going down hill fast.

GracesGranMK3 Tue 03-Sept-19 13:27:23

wicklowwinnie your posts are white on my computer but mine are pink (I think the actual colour depends on your screen). It does help to spot your posts so you know where you were when you come back in.

The OP's (Original Post or Poster who wrote the title Post) show up in green so you can see those too.

GracesGranMK3 Tue 03-Sept-19 13:29:47

In what way is is it "rubbish" Annie. You are just being rude not illuminating.

wicklowwinnie Tue 03-Sept-19 13:35:40

GracesGranMK3. Thank you very much for your reply. I appreciate you taking the trouble. x

Anniebach Tue 03-Sept-19 13:36:25

Wales will not be called England by most people, little englanders are not most people.

Day6 Tue 03-Sept-19 13:43:51

My main argument, like many, is that the electorate were told lies, fantasies, propaganda, fearful projections, by both sides, and properly informed opinion was not always used as the basis for our votes

Good grief! So, the electorate would not be allowed into the polling station without taking a test first?

No one asks us at any time why we vote or our reasons why, thank goodness! There are as many Remainers as Leavers who will tell you simply "I think it's the best way forward" without giving reasons.

Some people would have us live in a totalitarian state and repeat the referendum ad infinitum until they got the 'right' result it seems. hmm

Labaik Tue 03-Sept-19 13:46:59

Annie; with respect I don't understand what point you are trying to make.

Jane10 Tue 03-Sept-19 13:48:00

Good grief England and Wales will not have to stand alone! Don't be taken in by Sturgeon's nonsense and wishful thinking. angry

GracesGranMK3 Tue 03-Sept-19 13:49:36

Annie, people of refer to England when they mean Engand and the current other countries of the UK. If the UK ceases to exist then how many people from other countries do you think will bother to differentiate? It nothing to do with "Little Englanders" nor is necessarily what I would want them to say but many people are simply not bothered about it and will use "England" as a shorthand.

(It isn't compulsory that you are always rude you know).

Day6 Tue 03-Sept-19 13:51:22

Once England and Wales stand alone - which I feel is sure will happen if we leave on no-deal - it will be called England by most people

Are you feeling alright Gracesgran?

What a strange post, and yet MORE scaremongering. Most people are perfectly happy with the union and respect the nations within it as having their own identity and patriotic pride. Why on earth should Wales and England merge? The Welsh would not allow it, nor would the English. We sit happily side by side and respect each other.

*I have used the word 'patriotic'. I know to some posters it's a dirty word used by the right, and they frown if you declare yourself 'patriotic'. hmm

Day6 Tue 03-Sept-19 13:52:34

Exactly, Jane10.

Day6 Tue 03-Sept-19 13:54:27

If the UK ceases to exist

Ye Gods!!!! It gets worse! Yet another end of the world Remainer scenario. It smacks of desperation.

Labaik Tue 03-Sept-19 13:54:31

Well, I regard myself as patriotic. Leavers have, for too long regarded themselves as the only people who care about the UK; why do you think some of us are fighting hard to reverse what is, in our opinion, the biggest mistake this country has made since the Iraq war...

GracesGranMK3 Tue 03-Sept-19 13:55:11

If we leave, particularly without a deal I think it is inevitable Scotland will vote for autonomy. Ireland will probably feel the need to reunite too. Neither of this thoughts is particularly outlandish.

vena11 Tue 03-Sept-19 13:56:57

I am sick of it all and another referendum, no we have had one, why cant people accept it and let this thing happen so we can get on with it and I voted remain . Just fed up.

Day6 Tue 03-Sept-19 13:58:46

we are not a great nation

There are millions and millions of people in NI, Scotland, Wales and England who will tell you otherwise Lessimore

In your view we are not a great nation but you can only speak for your (Remainer, maybe?) self.

Luckygirl Tue 03-Sept-19 14:02:07

If a second referendum ensues, lessons must be learned from the first. It must not become a circus; it must consist of the dissemination of objective facts; there must be stipulations of minimum turnout and minimum margin.

As to a GE - we are in a safe Tory seat here, and unless the opposition parties are willing to field just one candidate between them, then that is how it will stay. Fat chance of them doing that.

Joelsnan Tue 03-Sept-19 14:05:39

I think the Scots would have to think really hard on that one considering it currently benefits from fiscal union. It being a net recipient.
