I am bereft ?

He was an excellent journalist; incisive, tenacious and never one to be deflected by a politician who was trying to wriggle out of giving a straight answer. I listened to him interviewing one of the young victims of the Manchester Arena bombing and he demonstrated a completely different side: compassionate and gentle.

As for those who say it was time for him to move over and make room for a younger person..... shame on you. hard to believe we're in the 21st century

A man of compassion
I met him there in 1966 and this was 50 years later

Chewbacca

I agree, he always struck me as a very kind and sensitive man

I am too Anniebach. Today won't be the same without him, even if I do mostly sleep through the best bits. I do like John.
