I would just like one thread for brexiters only please.

I voted leave. I would vote leave again and again and again. There has been nothing to change my mind. I have been hardened by the views of remainers.

I would really like to talk to other brexit minded posters.
Thanks.

FB and Twitter play hosts to many vile people and their comments unfortunately.

Joelsnan Wed 23-Oct-19 13:53:00

5. infantile and nonsensical in the extreme

The list is growing, and this now on the Leave thread ?

lemongrove Wed 23-Oct-19 14:16:06

jura2 I very much doubt any leaver wants to change their mind and is prevented from doing so because they don’t like the remainers attitude.Where did you dig that up from?

GabriellaG54 Wed 23-Oct-19 16:36:59

At the risk of starting WW3 I say there is nothing to worry about. The rest if the world can provide what the EU currently does x millions.
I've just looked at the tabs on a new pair of £45 vegan hiking boots and yes...made in China, new M&S dressing gown made in Bangladesh, new mobile made in China and a box of M&S Irish Cream Liquers made in Ireland...nothing made in the UK.

Linjoy Wed 23-Oct-19 16:47:57

Long post here sorry but will try to keep it brief.I voted leave and am an hardernt brexit supporter. My family have an Che.ical co and we sell a product into the on he se chicken farm industry for killing little red more that het onto birds a d stops them laying this product is a natural product basically ground up seashells so is organic.and that's it.The eu have brought in a law called the biocide directive ( a biocide is basically a chemical that can kill) to register any 1 product is £100,000Our product is a natural product diatamaceous earth but the eu say it is a biocide so we can no longer sell it ( it's very cheap) the alternative is a chemical that is put in chickens drinking water long term use can lead to cancer.if the chickens are drink I g it so.e will be deposited in eggs. Its much more expensive and guess who manufactures it a very well k own German co.

Labaik Wed 23-Oct-19 16:48:31

So what are we going to export then?

Labaik Wed 23-Oct-19 16:53:20

Linjoy; might it be because of the risk of, say, avian flu etc? I thought diatomaceous earth was ground up crustaceans.

Joelsnan Wed 23-Oct-19 16:57:23

Labiak
Most of our export are what Margaret Thatcher called ‘Service Industries’ and that is why she turned away from manufacturing. We make much of our profits from these industries. Tech. Banking. Security Monitoring , satellite management etc. etc. On the whole they are invisible to us, but very lucrative.

Miche Wed 23-Oct-19 17:05:30

I voted leave and would do so again.

You will note from the attached link that although EU does account for a large % of UK exports, this % has been on a quite rapid decline over recent years with little prospect of improvement.

MaizieD Wed 23-Oct-19 18:21:04

Could that be because we have been happily exporting to growing markets in the rest of the world, despite being in the EU?

I note that the value of exports to EU is increasing, as is value of exports to the rest of the world. Percentages are deceptive.

In 3 years since 2016 value of exports to EU has increased by £48 billion, value of exports to ROW increased by £29 billion. EU is the most profitable to us still.

Linjoy Wed 23-Oct-19 18:24:09

Diatamaceous earth is millions of years old and is ground up seashells I will add that most of our business is export non of it to the EU mostly Middle East and Asia

SuperAli Wed 23-Oct-19 18:28:23

I'm Scottish and I voted leave. I'm led to believe I'm the only person in Scotland who did so!

mcem Wed 23-Oct-19 19:03:47

Not quite, ali. I know one, but only one!

Labaik Wed 23-Oct-19 19:04:45

Sorry Linjoy; I skim read and read seashells as eggshells because of the chicken link! I was advised to feed it to my dog to prevent worms and also to put it on carpets to prevent fleas. Useful stuff.

Joelsnan Wed 23-Oct-19 19:18:11

Maizied
I think the decrease in EU exports has come about since the emerging Eastern European bloc became the industrial hub for the rest of Europe. Billions if Euros of EU funding has been pumped into this area to develop the infrastructure and generous grants have encouraged new set ups and relocation of established industries.
Many of the assembly plants in UK are now reliant on parts manufactured in this part of Europe.

Yes, I note that exports are still decent to EU, however any good business person would look at the trend, look at the opportunity and competition pools and would look to other blue sky markets to compensate and eventually overtake this declining market.

jura2 Wed 23-Oct-19 19:18:46

Wow, when fan numero uno Laura Kuensberg calls Boris a double liar for his performance today - you know things are seriously kicking off.

Urmstongran Wed 23-Oct-19 19:35:41

Welcome SuperAli to this great thread.

I love how Remainers just can’t resist coming on to post!
?

Stay determined Boris, millions of Britain's silent majority support you to have a General Election to clear out this rotten remainer Parliament and deliver Brexit. Well done Boris.

lemongrove Wed 23-Oct-19 19:40:30

Laura Kuensberg has never been a Boris Johnson fan ( or a Theresa May Fan) I really don’t know where you get your facts from jura2 hmm

Urmstongran Wed 23-Oct-19 19:41:34

And hi to you Miche
?

There are more and more of us. Some prefer reading to posting - but on this thread it’s nice to be able to come on just to say ‘hello’!

Say how you feel. No need for links and ‘evidence’ on our thread (but the Remainers will scoff - I don’t actually care!) There are expert opinions on both sides of this remember.

This was interesting:

"When a government finds itself without a majority the solution is not to undermine democracy. The solution is to let the people decide, and call a general election." (Jeremy Corbyn, 2 Sep, 2019)

lemongrove Wed 23-Oct-19 19:42:10

The Remainer thread is talking about bread and butter puddings and errant apostrophes ? which is why many are choosing to come on here.

lemongrove Wed 23-Oct-19 19:44:14

Urmston could that be the same Jeremy Corbyn who is hiding behind the curtains whenever a GE is mentioned at the moment?

Urmstongran Wed 23-Oct-19 19:55:16

*lemongrove’ love it!

Yes, regards JC - the very one!

Labour will pay at the impending GE for breaking their promise to their leave supporters to honour the 2016 ‘once in a generation referendum to leave the EU’

61% of their constituencies voted to LEAVE.

jura2 Wed 23-Oct-19 20:02:07

lemon ''Urmston could that be the same Jeremy Corbyn who is hiding behind the curtains whenever a GE is mentioned at the moment?''

yes the very one- and he is 100% right to do so. It is a trap and solves nothing. Not a Corbyn fan, but Boris has made him look and sound like a statesman lately- which is a miracle. And he has seen the trap from a mile away and refused to fall in it. Bravo.

trisher Wed 23-Oct-19 20:08:38

Ah if only you knew! The preparations for a GE are going quietly on behind the scenes. After all why not let Boris tie himself in knots trying to square the circle? I will say watch out for the biggest ever use of social media to organise a campaign with meetings and public appearances set up at short notice to spread the word. And Brexit being pushed into the background by socialism
