I would just like one thread for brexiters only please.

I voted leave. I would vote leave again and again and again. There has been nothing to change my mind. I have been hardened by the views of remainers.

I would really like to talk to other brexit minded posters.
Thanks.

What an odd argument when we're on our second General Election in two years. Johnson didn't like the hand he was dealt so he's asked for a redeal.. hmm

Calendargirl Fri 08-Nov-19 17:49:48

No Varian, the majority of his constituents voted to LEAVE.

newnanny Fri 08-Nov-19 17:53:39

Gisella Stewert is telling Labour voters if you want Brexit vote for Boris Johnson.

Two other ex Labour MP's are also instructing voters not to vote for JC as he is not fit to lead our country but to lend their votes to Boris.

Great when life long Labour voters and indeed even ex Labour MP's want to vote for Boris and to leave the EU. grin

Labaik Fri 08-Nov-19 18:27:36

Is that the Gisella Stuart that spearheaded the lies leave campaign and then did a runner?

moggie57 Fri 08-Nov-19 18:40:40

i agree .i vote to leave and will do so again and again .etc..why should we pay billions into the eu trust ,and get nil in return..australia left britain .business were not down .they still trade with the eu. its a load of cobblers that we will go down hill and suffer..anything for another referendum .NO WAY .we leave..

varian Fri 08-Nov-19 18:48:13

Grieve was opposed to Brexit before the 2016 referendum.[40]

Beaconsfield voted 51% Remain

MaizieD Fri 08-Nov-19 18:49:07

WTF are you on about, moggie?

Hetty58 Fri 08-Nov-19 18:52:23

I have a growing suspicion that we are being slowly swindled out of leaving - however we vote. I believe that the majority of the Civil Service (those who actually run the country) have never wanted to leave!

varian Fri 08-Nov-19 19:06:50

Why has the report on Russian interference in the fraudulent referendum not been published?

I have the feeling that we have been swindled into thinking "we have to respect the result of the referendum" for the last three and a half years when in fact no-one should respect a result achieved by lies, cheating and foreign interference.

janipat Fri 08-Nov-19 19:09:54

I thought we were promised in 2017 that it was a vote for the next 5 years. Why are we being cheated and made to endure another General Election? Can't possibly be because it's thought we may have changed our minds, we all know we have to follow the first vote through before we can be offered a chance to do that. Or is that only for Brexit?

Labaik Fri 08-Nov-19 19:23:39

No; they didn't get the result they wanted so it seems they, unlike a lot of us, are allowed to have another go sad...

GracesGranMK3 Fri 08-Nov-19 20:37:13

its a load of cobblers

That certainly sums up your post moggie57.

Let's start with your view of Australia. Australia was a founder member of the Commonwealth in 1931 when its independence was recognised under the Statute of Westminster. What has something that happened in 1931 got to do with the EU?

The EU is not a "trust". It is a group of, up 'till now, 28 independent nation-states who have chosen to work together to the advantage, in varying ways, of each and every one of them.

Because we make trade agreements with 28 other nations we get them on extremely good terms. I am horrified that you may still believe that as one nation, possibly only England with Wales, we can get anything like those terms. Have you ever seen a corner shop (our new position if we leave) being able to negotiate and therefore sell to us at the same prices as the supermarkets which is currently our position when working with the EU? Even the corner shops work together on their trade deals with wholesalers and they can still not compete with the supermarkets. Of course, we will not be able to get deals as good as we have now. We will have to agree to trade in our National Health, our health and safety laws and our work conditions and still not get the deals the EU countries can working together.

GGMK3 Corner shops - good analogy. Much, much better than Thatcher and her housekeeping.

Distinguished historian Francis Fukuyama believes that populism is a threat to democracy and brexit would diminish the UK's standing in the world.

Has anyone noticed that latest polls show Conservatives 14% ahead in polls.

Also has anyone seen latest Labour plot to reduce car driving by 60% before 2030. They aim to do this by taxing motorist far higher taxes and endorced by Long Bailey.

lemongrove Wed 13-Nov-19 13:43:04

Hmmmm, that’ll be a popular move newnanny ?

Welshwife Wed 13-Nov-19 23:31:38

Another bit of news which I saw today - Tesla have now decided against siting their electric car plant/ research etc in U.K. because of the uncertainty of Brexit and the difficulties it could bring and are instead going to Berlin. Thousands of jobs will be created and of course it should be part of an expanding industry.
Another great opportunity missed.

GracesGranMK3 Thu 14-Nov-19 00:27:20

No New Nanny, where did you "notice" this? The Daily Heil, by any chance?

MaizieD Thu 14-Nov-19 07:49:01

Also has anyone seen latest Labour plot to reduce car driving by 60% before 2030

I take it that you either don't believe in climate change or you don't particularly care about making the planet uninhabitable for future generations, newnanny?

growstuff Thu 14-Nov-19 09:17:29

I wouldn't call a transparent plan a "plot".

growstuff Thu 14-Nov-19 09:18:02

Is it a plan anyway?

GracesGranMK3 Thu 14-Nov-19 09:32:07

Again, not a single reference and yet we are asked to believe the gossip.

Greta Thu 14-Nov-19 10:53:47

newnanny: Also has anyone seen latest Labour plot to reduce car driving by 60% before 2030.

Oh no, I was hoping to still be driving in ten years' time. Please inform us where you have learnt this and how you have tested its veracity.

Welshwife Thu 14-Nov-19 10:59:58

Has anybody noticed that the fact of Tesla not building plants in the U.K. will mean somewhere in the region of 70.000 jobs not being created in Britain but in Germany?
Tesla did intend to build their research and development plant in the U.K. batteries were to be a big part of this and Tesla are well into battery production. Where there are R and D facilities there is a need for various other things such as proving grounds for any vehicle testing. All these areas would give opportunities for high quality employment - these jobs are badly needed to replace those lost in the last few years.
If electric vehicles are to become the ‘norm’ as part of the transport system - whether cars, vans or buses etc - then battery development is essential and also for storage of power in and for homes. What a lost opportunity!

Welshwife Thu 14-Nov-19 11:01:05

Forgot to say most of that information came from Reuters reports.
