Well

Starmer is talking to the DUP in the hope that a new alliance can be formed which will, it is hoped, force the government into a softer departure or/and confirmatory vote on whether to leave at all.
The softer departure will take the form of a customs union, which is obviously attractive to the DUP.

It is thought that there is enough cross party support for a CU. amendment.

Johnson is trying to rush through all stages of the Brexit legislation before the EU summit pencilled in for next week, but parliament may reject this rushed timetable because it doesn’t give sufficient time to scrutinise such a hugely important bill, and there will be a vote on this tomorrow. It is hoped that parliament will insist on giving itself more time over the extended transition period.

Johnson is attempting to get parliamentary backing for his Brexit deal in a straight yes/no vote today. Hoping to show support for his agreement. But it is expected that a Bercow will enforce parliamentary rules that say that parliament can’t keep bringing the same vote back, as was voted on, on Saturday and Johnson lost.

One suspicion is that if Johnson can get a meaningful vote through he will withdraw his extension letter.

Whitew "The way to treat toddlers who can’t get their own way and refuse to move is to ignore them." that happens on here too grin Leavers treat me like that when they can't/won't answer my simple questions.

maddy

Your snipe at Grandad about GN couldn’t be more wrong.

Ask GNHQ

There is nothing beneficial about Brexit.

That is why leavers have such difficulty in replying

I could be wrong, maddyone, but I believe the name GRANSnet (as you name it) was chosen to be neutral and so inclusive of men as well as women.

We can argue with Grandad1943 about the content of his post if we wish, but not his right to post.

Given the number of patronising posts which appear on these forums, any criticism of Grandad on this front, might be seen as sexist.

maddyone Sat 26-Oct-19 11:08:07

It might be seen as sexist Amagram, but unfortunately that is just the behaviour that I think he himself exhibits.

MaizieD Sat 26-Oct-19 11:17:53

I don't know how many times on Gnet people have been told to 'play the ball, not the man' (though I think it would be more appropriate that 'man' should be changed to 'person' grin )

Grandad is perfectly entitled to post on here, using whatever style he likes. Please stop attacking him, maddy. If you have a response to his content, then respond. Pulling the 'sexist' card is just silly.

maddyone Sat 26-Oct-19 12:02:16

Obviously the members of Grandad’s fan club will disagree with me, however lecturing and belittling women is a common sexist behaviour. This is what I have observed.

MaizieD Sat 26-Oct-19 12:08:57

You tempt me to 'attack the person', maddy, but I won't...

Pantglas2 Sat 26-Oct-19 12:22:13

Must admit Maddyone granddad1943’s predictable long-winded response to a possible December election prompted my two line perfect solution (instituted by his beloved Labour Party I hasten to add).

Some people like to complicate life and some of us prefer to find solutions to complications thrust upon us by ALL politicians.

There are times when I would take over Gabby's position as thread controller and say 'enough is enough, move on' but I know I can't grin Suspect the thread will close soon.

lemongrove Sat 26-Oct-19 15:59:09

Of course men can and do post on GN and there are a few of them around, mostly low key posters it has to be said, as they no doubt feel outnumbered, however it’s the style of posting that often puts other posters backs up.Lecturing posts, by either men or women are a bore.

lemongrove Sat 26-Oct-19 16:00:46

Moving on......
I hope Labour will follow the Lib Dems and SNP in backing a GE in Parliament next week.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 26-Oct-19 16:29:43

Labour are going to follow many Tory MPs and either vote against or abstain, - doesn’t matter which.
