If you want our NHS to be ended and replaced by a private health scheme then this is where your vote should go.

The NHS is for sale if the Tories win. You won't take it from me? Take it from former Tory Prime Minister John Major.

"The NHS would be as safe as a pet hamster in the presence of a hungry python if Boris Johnson, Michael Gove & Iain Duncan-Smith rose to power following Brexit."

@JonAshworth

This general election is about the future of our NHS and what the Tories have done to it.

This is what frontline NHS staff are saying

If you care about the NHS Please don't vote conservative

I have just watched Johnson speaking to the CBI. The minor point - who ever said Johnson was a good speaker? The major point -what is their political strategy? He basically read out a miss-mash of hand-outs that had no cohesive policy behind it. Contrary to this, Corbyn, for whom I had no expectations as as a speaker sounded fluent and knowledgeable.

With 60% of the country saying they are in favour of the government making "moderate" or radical changes to the way the British economy is run (IPPR polling) why would anyone vote for the continued unplanned chaos of the ERG Tories?

Whitewavemark2 Mon 18-Nov-19 12:53:36

I notice that he had to be helped by the Chairman to reply to a couple of questions.

He is pretty dim isn’t he?

varian Mon 18-Nov-19 13:07:04

I have heard a theory that he uses buffoonery to disguise his intelligence but perhaps he uses his buffoonery to disguise his dimness.

GracesGranMK3 Mon 18-Nov-19 19:09:14

What makes people believe he is so intelligent. He got a 2:1 at Oxford when he was one of the privileged few. He would find there would be a lot more competition these days. He also had a very privileged education which got him to Oxford. Does that make him intelligent? He certainly seems to have done nothing to prove it as am MP or PM.

varian Mon 18-Nov-19 19:13:40

He certainly did nothing to prove it when he was an appalling mayor of London wasting umpteen millions of public money on vanity projects..

Since 2014 every area has gone into reverse in the NHS.

That year the NHS could no longer cope with the level of cuts the Tories had imposed on it since it came to office in 2010. Every year since has shown a worsening of all the figures. Nothing Johnson is headlining will make any difference, unless he follows the Labour governments plan between 1997 and 2010, when funding was raised by 50% and real and life giving progress was made.

There is no doubt that if this continues the age of mortality figures will show a reverse as well.
Be prepared for your children’s and grandchildren’s generation to die younger.

Vote Tory and don’t give a stuff.

The debate tonight should be worth watching. Last I heard La Swinson wanted in. Someone said yesterday she’d been to court and her legal application to take part has been turned down?

lemongrove Tue 19-Nov-19 09:04:53

Yes, I heard it was turned down ( quite rightly...otherwise where would it end?)
Conservatives are increasing their lead over Labour.

lemon and looked what they have done so far.

NHS into decline a s set to continue

Child poverty steeply rising.

One shudders at what is ahead.

Anyone who believes that the NHS is NOT on the table- really needs to think hard, again

The elite dining club behind £130m+ donations to the Tories that enjoys direct access to Boris Johnson has given more than £130 million to the Conservative Party since 2010.

More than 80% of funds raised by the Conservatives for the general election so far has come from the secretive Leader’s Group. For the past eighteen months, the Tories have failed to honour a pledge to publish details of the controversial club, after previous scandals.

Labour shadow cabinet office minister Jon Trickett has written to Conservative chairman James Cleverly calling for “much greater transparency in how the Conservative Party handles its political donations and relationships with rich and powerful elites”.

The Leader’s Group, which has included wealthy individuals linked to Russia, the fossil fuel industry and climate denial, is open only to those prepared to give the Conservatives at least £50,000 a year. In return, they receive regular private dinners, lunches and drinks receptions with the prime minister and other senior Tory figures, including leading cabinet ministers.

OpenDemocracy’s in-depth analysis of this top donors’ club has found that the Tory party is increasingly dependent on a handful of funders involved in finance and, particularly, the hedge fund industry, with many of the party’s pro-EU donors fleeing since 2016.

Okay I’ll bite GGmk3 It would be good to see the reasons why rather than reasons why you shouldn't vote elsewhere. Just one positive reason that doesn't mention another party or member of another party

The last 10y have been pretty dire with stupid austerity measures. But that period is officially over now.

I will vote for Boris because he promises to deliver Brexit and

Ngaio1 Mon 25-Nov-19 11:44:14

If Jeremy Corbyn becomes Prime Minister the ship (UK) will sink. No one could be as bad as he.

Urmstongran Mon 25-Nov-19 11:46:53

Posted too soon, sorry.

he has pledged 20,000 more police officers plus tougher stop and search powers designed to crack down on rising crime and restore the party’s reputation on Law and Order.

Also there will be longer jail terms for violent and sexual offenders; whole life for child killers; 10,000 more prison places and a crackdown on traveller camps.

About time and I’m all for it.

varian Mon 25-Nov-19 11:51:57

England already has more prisoners per head of population than any other country in Western Europe.

Penal policy should be directed towards the prevention of crime and especially the prevention of re-offending.

Some offenders will always need to be imprisoned for the protection of the public, but most could be dealt with more effectively by other forms of sentencing.

Urmstongran Mon 25-Nov-19 18:25:49

Hey - I’m impressed - no comeback in 6 hours!
Result!

You know that the '20,000 more police officers' barely replaces those cut by the tories over the last 9 years?

varian Mon 25-Nov-19 19:45:29

THE BBC has admitted it made a “mistake” following accusations that a Question Time clip was cut in a way which edited out laughter directed at the Prime Minister.

The broadcaster said it had cut a clip of Boris Johnson on the BBC’s Question Time leaders’ special on Friday November 22 for a shorter package to be shown on Saturday’s lunchtime bulletin.

If you are going to vote Tory, don’t say you care about the NHS, child poverty, or social care

Because you don’t

I wonder if the rights attempts to keep beating up Corbyn is attractive to younger voters?

Oopsminty Wed 27-Nov-19 07:41:59

Young people have always been left leaning. Filled with ideology etc etc

Then they tend to grow up and start changing their minds

There's a quote about it

If you're not a Liberal at 25 you have no heart. If you're not a Conservative at 35 you have no brain
