Well anyone who thinks it’s appropriate to use that phrase is a wanker

growstuff Wed 13-Nov-19 18:58:26

"onanism" typo

suziewoozie Wed 13-Nov-19 18:59:52

If it’s ok to use metaphors about sexual behaviour in political discourse ( which imo it isn’t) but if it is, you should use words that everyone can understand like wanking and tossing off. People didn’t understand it when hewed spaffing because it’s a posh boys word - boys being the operative description. After all he’s used get stuffed, girly swot, big girls blouse.

Used

Callistemon Wed 13-Nov-19 19:21:14

Oh dear, suziewoozie, they are not finding your thread a light relief from all the awful and worrying news

At least I learned a new word even though I won't be using it.
Nor any of the others mentioned!

Iam64 Wed 13-Nov-19 19:27:30

growstuff, Id been trying not to bring my 3 and 4 year old grandsons in to this discussion BUT, pooohhh weeee pooooohhh willllie, bum bum (repeat endlessly whilst falling about laughing). Mr Johnson's use of language and obsession with whatever we want to call it isn't much advance on 3 and 4 year old boys imo.

Gonegirl Wed 13-Nov-19 19:29:34

Did you have to look it up susiewoozie or did you already know it?

Bet you already knew it.

suziewoozie Wed 13-Nov-19 19:31:16

Of course I knew the word.

Gonegirl Wed 13-Nov-19 19:32:00

Thought you would have.

FarNorth Wed 13-Nov-19 19:32:08

I had to look it up, anyway.

BJ is a plonker, so what can you expect?

suziewoozie Wed 13-Nov-19 19:33:24

Call you sound like a pearl clutching prim old lady?

Callistemon Wed 13-Nov-19 19:37:15

grin

Don't wear pearls am not prim but yes, I am old

And I had 7 attempts to type grin because it kept coming out as gin.

grapefruitpip Wed 13-Nov-19 19:40:59

Ah the playing fields of Eton, still running the show. Didn't Cameron say he was born to rule?

Gonegirl Wed 13-Nov-19 19:43:41

You're the ones always throwing up your hands in horror at just about everything.

Not as innocent as you make out if you're into words like that?

Gonegirl Wed 13-Nov-19 19:44:11

That was to susiewoozie. Not her sidekick.

Pantglas2 Wed 13-Nov-19 19:44:14

Well done Callistemon- if grin turns to gin at our age we must’ve done something right!

Callistemon Wed 13-Nov-19 19:45:49

[gin] Pantglas

Actually, it's just a white wine at the moment, have to wait for DD or DIL to get out the gin!

suziewoozie Wed 13-Nov-19 19:48:49

Which words are you talking about GG ? Everyone must know waning and tossing off. I knew onanism as I said but BJ taught me the word spaffinf.

Callistemon Wed 13-Nov-19 19:53:18

I used to use the t word quite a bit, thinking it just meant 'idiot', tossing stupid remarks.

DH kept telling me off then explained what it meant and I told him not to be daft.

He's not prim either.

grapefruitpip Wed 13-Nov-19 20:02:33

Who is the side kick?

growstuff Wed 13-Nov-19 20:03:03

What did you mean Gonegirl when you claimed *suziewoozie" would already know what the word means? Be brave! Come out with it!

Using words like "onanism" is typical of repressed adolescents, who think they can use a code which only the clever (superior) ones will understand. Masturbation is a perfectly normal, healthy activity, which has been stigmatised through the ages, which is why it's used an insult.

Gonegirl Wed 13-Nov-19 20:07:49

I don't think I want to chat with you about this "suz". You are obviously more worldly wise than me.

suziewoozie Wed 13-Nov-19 20:11:58

Well GG this morning I was a prim old lady. Which is it

growstuff Wed 13-Nov-19 20:19:34

I don't think knowing synonyms for masturbation makes anybody worldy wise.

I suspect that Johnson never was going to use the word, but it's been released by his "anonymous advisors" to get people talking. They'll probably discuss it more than whatever Johnson actually says.

It does concern me that there are people who are impressed by this kind of use of language.

growstuff Wed 13-Nov-19 20:20:42

suziewoozie Do please share this elixir of rejuvenation you seem to have discovered. grin

suziewoozie Wed 13-Nov-19 20:25:17

No 10 are now saying it was an early draft ( which strangely the press were briefed on). I don’t think that makes the slightest difference / the fact is they contemplated using it .
