A politics no-go zone?

I learned today that it is illegal to feature politics in any shape or form on TV or radio tomorrow . (Apart from the Election coverage after the polls have closed.)

Would it be possible for the same embargo to apply to Gransnet - or am I wishing for the moon?
How peaceful it would be.
Or would the vow of silence be more than some could take?

Ah the moon lol.

Perfectly possible for those who do not wish to talk politics tomorrow- to keep away from political threads - and enjoy the peace and quiet- if that is what they wish for.

Enjoy.

Why can't you just not read the politics threads?

Doodle Wed 11-Dec-19 15:21:25

Because there are so many. They have taken over all of GN and most of them state the same thing over and over and over again. I’m with you maw although if it were so, it would be the lull before the storm on Friday.

Gaunt47 Wed 11-Dec-19 15:53:36

I was thinking the exact same thing last night MawB!
And I will continue to (mostly) ignore the politics thread - it's going to get nastier on Friday - but I do understand why your post is on the news & politics thread.

jura2 Wed 11-Dec-19 16:03:05

Doodle- it does not matter how many there are- your prerogative is to just ignore them. Simple, really.

Anniebach Wed 11-Dec-19 16:08:46

Wishing for the moon Maw

Squiffy Wed 11-Dec-19 16:13:37

Maw If you look up, you'll see a flock of pink 'birds' flying overhead all going 'Oink oink' ! tchwink

Jane10 Wed 11-Dec-19 16:22:48

I agree Maw. The political threads are so predictable that they're not worth reading. Just people letting off steam and agreeing with those who think exactly like them and disparaging those who don't. Boring and pointless.

jura2 Wed 11-Dec-19 16:24:54

why on earth do you read them then? Don't bother- peace.

Sussexborn Wed 11-Dec-19 16:27:08

What Jane said!

It’s been quite an eye opener but has become really tedious.

Dinahmo Wed 11-Dec-19 16:57:45

It's surprising the number of people on GN who complain about the political threads and yet have time to read them. The simple answer is - don't.

MaizieD Wed 11-Dec-19 16:58:00

I can't see there being much to talk about tomorrow. It'll be like a day in limbo.

But I'd agree, no-one is forcing anyone to read the N & P forum, so those who aren't interested, don't bother...

Labaik Wed 11-Dec-19 17:02:45

This is probably the most important election that's happened in my lifetime so why would I want to ignore it? There's nothing to stop anyone ignoring social media/tv/radio etc for a couple of days. And good that those of us that are interested have people to discuss it with.

Urmstongran Wed 11-Dec-19 17:04:16

I’m going to keep it zipped tomorrow Maw!
?

BlueBelle Wed 11-Dec-19 18:13:19

I want to put my fingers in my ears and scream to be honest ?

EllaKeat Wed 11-Dec-19 18:20:55

But Maw this really is the biggest, most important vote for donkeys years. Of course GN will be overrun with political threads.

Just have a holiday for a couple 9f days?

LadyGracie Wed 11-Dec-19 18:26:50

It is an important day, it's our 49th wedding anniversary and it's been totally overshadowed by this debacle!

SirChenjin Wed 11-Dec-19 18:29:39

I agree Maw

MN has a feature which allows you to hide entire threads you don’t want to see but it’s not available on GN for some reason confused

Charleygirl5 Wed 11-Dec-19 18:35:14

I agree Maw the problem is if one does not want politics or games there is very little else.

GracesGranMK3 Wed 11-Dec-19 19:00:19

Really? I doubt there will be much chat and you can avoid it. What's the matter with you that you need such rules. I am staggered that you didn't know the media couldn't talk about it.

No one needs to read threads they are not interested in.

Urmstongran Wed 11-Dec-19 19:10:58

If we have a day off tomorrow I bet Friday will be buzzing!
?

GracesGranMK3 Wed 11-Dec-19 19:16:12

It could be very, very quiet UG, while we all process what has happened, although I have to admit it is unlikely.

mcem Wed 11-Dec-19 19:57:59

Why not use the Hide this Discussion option if you choose to behave like an ostrich?
Wish I could switch off bloody BJ as easily!

GracesGranMK3 Wed 11-Dec-19 20:05:28

We don't have one, do we mcem? It would be lovely so I hope I'm wrong.
