Will the remainers admit defeat?

I have always said that if there was another referendum the country would vote to leave again. We have voted to leave the EU three times!

2016 Referendum - the country voted to leave
2017 General Election - Hung parliament and a bit of a hiccup due to Theresa May running a poor campaign.
2019 European Election - the country voted to leave when the Brexit Party turned the country Brexit blue.
2019 General Election - the country voted to leave with a massive Conservative majority.

How many more times does the country need to say we want to leave the EU?

Does anybody remember the Tory back bencher who suggested that the former royal yacht Britannia be refurbished and sent sailing off around the world with British goods - whisky, Burberry raincoats and jam - the best in the world. Just tell that to the French with their Bon Maman.

The Chinese aren't buying so many Rolls Royces now.

One of the things we Brits are really good at is the Arts. The Royal Ballet is one of the best ballet companies in the world, we produce world class designers - fashion, industrial, architecture - artists, craftsmen and musicians. Yet they aren't properly recognised and funding is constantly being cut.

Other nations are proud of their artistic culture but not the Brits until it is rammed down their throats, as for example, the opening ceremony of the Olympics.

The above are some reasons why I cannot forget about Brexit.

Sorry Tiptree Jam (Wilkinsons) is much tastier than Bon Mamon.

Callistemon Sun 22-Dec-19 19:16:59

Laibak, yes we do
But not on the scale we used to and they have found other markets.

GracesGranMK3 Sun 22-Dec-19 19:24:44

A majority (if it as actually a majority) is just that; a lot of people wanting the same thing. But no one can argue that this means they are necessarily right.

Dinahmo posts about the reasons she cannot forget about brexit.

None of us grannies will ever be able to forget about brexit for the rest of our lives.

"Get brexit done" was a lie. It will not be done for ten, twenty or more years.

Brexit will blight the futures of our children and grandchildren.

No wonder so many of our brightest and best are joining the brexit brain drain and moving to other EU countries.

Callistemon Sun 22-Dec-19 19:57:08

And I can't forget the Australian fires I witnessed either.

I can only speak for myself but your absolutely correct. And to make sure ( for as long as I live) we will have a huge party every 31st of January. Very handy date ?

Smileless2012 Sun 22-Dec-19 21:40:06

I think you're the one who is deluded GagaJo

GrannyGravy13 Sun 22-Dec-19 21:58:12

Gagajo thought you were moving to China to work????

MerylStreep Sun 22-Dec-19 22:19:23

gagajo
There are a few quotes on your link that are more applicable to the country that you hold in such high esteem rather than the uk.
Dirty air
Tap computer messages
Limit internet freedom.
No laws for industry.

GagaJo Sun 22-Dec-19 22:26:52

Armchair experts. Do you even have passports?

MerylStreep Sun 22-Dec-19 22:28:57

Gagajo
I certainly have, and I've been to china.

Dinahmo Sun 22-Dec-19 22:30:45

GagaJo

Good cartoon - about 95% accurate I'd say.

Opal Sun 22-Dec-19 23:46:33

Oh what a load of rubbish, Gagajo you really are scraping the barrel. It must be bloody awful to be such a negative person, you only ever criticise the UK on these threads, I don't think I've ever read a positive word from you. Is there anything about this country you DO like? People who live in the UK are amongst the luckiest in the world. Feel free to try living anywhere else if you think you can find somewhere better.

GagaJo Mon 23-Dec-19 00:03:46

I LOVE where I live. I like being a teacher in the UK (although it's impossible if you're over 50). I LOVE my bolshy, loud, personality-plus students. I ADORE my grandson. I'm proud of how political most Brits are. I'm proud of the LP for having morals and ethics. I'm very proud of how left-wing my friends / family / acquaintances are because they care about the less fortunate, the vulnerable and the needy. There is a HUGE amount I'm proud of, with the British. The REASON you've never read any of those things, Opal, is that you aren't on the other threads I'm on because you and I have NOTHING in common.

I could say EXACTLY the same to you, except I'm not interested enough. You 're just a right-wing VL. Not real.

Labaik Mon 23-Dec-19 00:51:24

Isn't it a typical Brexit supporter reaction 'if you don't like it, move somewhere else'. How many times have I heard that over the past few years. Well, some of us loved where we were but that was before Brexit turned us into a divided nation. And I find that heartbreaking and will NOT be celebrating on the 31st.

Opal Mon 23-Dec-19 00:54:30

I've seen your posts on the politics threads, and all you seem to do is talk the country down and criticise it. If you love Britain, love being British, love living here and are proud of your country, then own it and say it, and cut out the constant doom and gloom - it's not a balanced view at all and completely biased. And you can insult me all you like, I don't give a s**t, if I think you're wrong, I'll call it.

GagaJo Mon 23-Dec-19 01:00:08

Opal, whatever. Police yourself luv. No one died and made you GNHQ.

I happen to think the UK is going to hell in a handcart, thanks to a right-wing govt. If you don't like the freedom of speech here, maybe YOU should go elsewhere.

Opal Mon 23-Dec-19 01:19:39

The only ones going to hell in a handcart are the Labour Party, thanks to the British electorate. So I think I'll stick around .....

Your OP said we have voted to leave 3 times.
This is plainly not true.
There was only one referendum which was, we now know, subject to interference of such an order that had it been anything other than advisory (whatever the politicians said) would have had to be run again.

Just feel this needs saying again.

Here is a link for a postal vote.
I believe anyone whose name is on the register is entitled to one so I don't understand why you were asked for reasons.
Hope this helps.

Britain is indeed a wonderful country, despite some of the people who live here [sigh]. Thank goodness I don't have to bump into them in real life (not very often, anyway).

growstuff Mon 23-Dec-19 04:23:47

BTW I'm curious about the claim that China has no laws for industry when it most certainly does. The Chinese government is acutely aware of foreign perceptions of China. As the country relies on exporting, it is sensitive to criticism. If you look at graphs of pollution in Chinese cities, there was a levelling off about two years ago, which coincided with directives for Chinese factory owners to use cleaner fuel. Educated Chinese (and there are millions of them) are aware of foreign news. Many of them study abroad, which is why they're so keen to learn English, so are aware of the restrictions their government places on their freedom of speech. On the other hand, ordinary Chinese people value education highly and many of them are living proof that social mobility means even the lowliest can have better lives than their parents did.
