........ of a lack of seasonal EU workers across UK meat plants.

The start of things to come?

Riverwalk Wed 18-Dec-19 12:29:55

Couldn't happen to a nicer company! grin

SirChenjin Wed 18-Dec-19 12:39:42

Awww...grin

Never mind, all we have to do is find lots of nice British workers who want to start wrapping British bacon round our own tiny British sausages while singing The White Cliffs of Dover on the factory production line ???????

GracesGranMK3 Wed 18-Dec-19 12:39:48

Indeed. What next I wonder?

MerylStreep Wed 18-Dec-19 12:42:34

As the problem has been resolved does that mean the eu workers have made a swift return or they employing some of our out of work people.

Desdemona Wed 18-Dec-19 12:43:33

British people need to do the work!

Desdemona Wed 18-Dec-19 12:44:57

Vegetarian sausage tastes as nice in my opinion, without the cruelty to the poor pigs as well.

Riverwalk Wed 18-Dec-19 12:45:18

Maybe some of the Brexit grans will volunteer!

ladymuck Wed 18-Dec-19 12:46:46

It's time for companies to resign themselves to employing British people....as they did before we joined the EU!

Riverwalk Wed 18-Dec-19 12:53:41

Anyone who listens to the Farming Programme early in the morning on Radio 4 as I do, will know that UK workers just do not want to do this sort of work. This is a fact that is stated almost every day!

The last I heard they are intending to recruit from outside Europe, so EU migrants will be replaced by those from the developing world.

Calendargirl Wed 18-Dec-19 12:57:19

Well, the world wouldn’t end if there were never any more pigs in blankets, big fuss about nothing.

GrandmaKT Wed 18-Dec-19 13:00:30

Would these be the same UK workers who voted for Brexit and followed it up by rallying round Boris to get Brexit done? If so it's time they pulled on their wellies and showed the courage of their convictions!

Desdemona Wed 18-Dec-19 13:01:32

Who the hell can't wrap a bit of bacon round a sausage if they feel the need?

JenniferEccles Wed 18-Dec-19 13:04:10

The operative word here is temporary! No need to panic, but how long will it be before Boris is blamed along with all of us who voted for him?!!

trisher Wed 18-Dec-19 13:04:55

Somehow it's natural justice given the owner's vocal support for Brexit. "Hoist with his own petard!"

Riverwalk Wed 18-Dec-19 13:13:10

Well, the world wouldn’t end if there were never any more pigs in blankets, big fuss about nothing.

It's hardly only just about sausages though is it?

Oopsminty Wed 18-Dec-19 13:14:50

I much prefer pigs without blankets

GracesGranMK3 Wed 18-Dec-19 13:27:11

Somehow it's natural justice given the owner's vocal support for Brexit. "Hoist with his own petard!"

My feelings exactly. This is probably insignificant to those who think everyone's life is, or should be, just like theirs.

I think we should just wait and see what happens next.

Firecracker123 Wed 18-Dec-19 13:27:12

The boss of UK pub chain JD Wetherspoon, Tim Martin, an outspoken supporter of Brexit, has removed all European wines and beers from its 900 pubs in favour of bottles from the UK, US, Australia and Chile.

Way to go Tim Martin ?

Supporting UK independent breweries. ??

GagaJo Wed 18-Dec-19 13:31:52

He won't mind. He's a Brexit supporter.

SirChenjin Wed 18-Dec-19 13:34:29

Not all beers - two thirds of beers sold in Wetherspoons are from the EU, he doesn’t care that much. Yeah, way to go Tim Martin and his falling profits.

Firecracker123 Wed 18-Dec-19 13:42:23

Bitter or what lol

Buy British ??

SirChenjin Wed 18-Dec-19 13:47:03

Not at all - merely fact checking a previous claim. #Buywhateverthehellyoulike

jura2 Wed 18-Dec-19 22:11:36

''US, Australia and Chile - Buy British ''

oh yeah sad doh

MawB Wed 18-Dec-19 22:22:15

Can’t cooks all over the country wrap their own slices of bacon round their chipolata sausages?
Jamie Oliver had his kids doing it.
