What a truth! Racist remarks are racist what ever your colour!

Jabberwok Sun 26-Jan-20 17:30:03

trisher your patronising comments have become ridiculous as well as off subject, and I simply cannot be bothered to answer you any more. Time to give it a rest.

GagaJo Sun 26-Jan-20 17:38:41

Oh I see tickingbird. You support a bloke you know NOTHING about because he said one thing you liked. Rational.

Like it or not, social media is a huge part of 21st C life.

Plus, what do you think this is, if not social media? Albeit antisocial.

trisher Sun 26-Jan-20 17:42:52

Q.E.D, then Jabberwok

Jabberwok Sun 26-Jan-20 17:55:01

Exactly.

tickingbird Sun 26-Jan-20 18:45:20

Gagajo your post is nonsensical. You know nothing about LF beyond what anyone else does unless he’s known to you. You seem to hate him but follow his twittering and appearances on tv and radio. Strange as it may seem to you, most people do just the opposite when someone they dislike appears. Most odd. Also I’m well aware this is social media and more than enough for me. My interactions are in the real world where others can’t hide who they really are. This is just for amusement- well at least recently!

tickingbird Sun 26-Jan-20 18:46:59

jabberwok. Just ignore Trisher. She sounds more confused with each subsequent post.

Baggs Sun 26-Jan-20 18:47:02

Following people on social media with whom one disagrees is actually quite a good idea. It prevents you from forming opinions in a bubble and you're more likely to get both sides (or multiple angles) of an issue. I suppose if one's opinions are already formed that wouldn't work.

Callistemon Sun 26-Jan-20 18:56:19

antisocial

Gransnet?
Surely not?

tickingbird Sun 26-Jan-20 18:58:23

Trisher I understand your frustration due to your lack of vocabulary not to say reasoned debate. Maybe take my advice and take the day off hmm? You do yourself no favours with your oh so shocking use of profanity- LOL! Maybe you think you’re being outrageous and daring? As for me not having the nerve - what to swear on Gransnet? No Trisher I don’t need to dear.

trisher Sun 26-Jan-20 21:31:49

tickingbird you have accused me of having double standards although I made no comment or criticism of LF's use of language, you have told me to "take the day off" and now you are accusing me of a lack of vocabulary and inability to debate. I haven't made any such assertions about you I did ask if perhaps "take the day off" constituted a euphemism for "fuck off" as it seems rather a strange and quaintly old fashioned expression. I could if I wished report all of your unreasonable personal attacks and have them removed but I won't. I pefer to leave them and enjoy the absolute inanity and illogicality which equates swearing with a lack of vocabulary and can't distinguish one person's posts from anothers.
And I'm with Billy Connolly on swearing and vocabulary- A lot of people say that it's a lack of vocabulary that makes you swear. Rubbish. I know thousands of words but I still prefer 'fuck

tickingbird Mon 27-Jan-20 06:17:21

As I said take the day off. It doesn’t translate to f off. You use foul language then complain when challenged. Oh and reporting. What are you? A silly schoolgirl. Bandying your love of the f word around and now having a hissy fit because I’ve called you out on it. I could report you. Also why do you keep bringing Billy Connolly into it. Do you somehow think that adds weight to your argument? What is he to you, some kind of foul mouthed philosopher? I’ve heard of Confucius say.... but Billy Connolly say......? ????

Chestnut Mon 27-Jan-20 10:08:25

No-one has answered my question. I'm asking all those on this thread who believe that criticism of MM in the press is because of racism.
How do you explain all the press criticism aimed at the other female members of the RF in the past? Camilla and Fergie especially, although Kate was also vilified at one point. Was their skin colour the cause then? I don't think so. So please explain what the difference is between them being roasted in the press and MM.

trisher Mon 27-Jan-20 10:15:42

Chestnut I think I did say that mysogyny and racism often go hand in hand and that the MSM is in the hands of powerful white men who use both. it means that of course other women are targeted but that women of colour present a double target.Neither of these things is acceptable but unfortunately both seem to flourish on GN.

trisher Mon 27-Jan-20 10:16:46

tickingbird grin

Chestnut Mon 27-Jan-20 10:35:31

So how do you explain when 'powerful white men' get roasted in the press? Charles and Andrew have both had their share, Trump and Boris have been torn to shreds. Where's the racism and misogyny there? You can't keep rolling out these excuses just because it's a woman.

tickingbird Mon 27-Jan-20 10:49:42

Chestnut No I don’t believe the press have been racist toward MM. Maybe others have on social media etc. I also don’t believe the reason for her and Harry’s departure was down to negative press. It’s a convenient excuse in my opinion.

trisher Mon 27-Jan-20 10:53:25

Oh Chestnut are you really saying the treatment Prince Andrew has received for his very real paedophile connections is in any way equivalent to the treatment meeted out to MM? Or Boris who has been serially unfaithful and yet is presented as just a bit of a bad boy? Nothing about his Bullingdon money burning in front of the homeless during the election was there? As for Charles do you remember much about his connection with sex offender Peter Bull? I don't. They may get the occasional headline they don't get the sustained and unwarranted attention (even when they deserve it)

tickingbird Mon 27-Jan-20 10:56:38

Trisher Kudos to you. Being to able to laugh at oneself is a positive attribute. Well done!

Chestnut Mon 27-Jan-20 11:02:45

The point I'm making is that people get roasted in the press because of their behaviour not because of their gender or race.

eazybee Mon 27-Jan-20 11:11:02

Trisher, you should take care.
I think when you refer to Prince Charles ' association with a sex offender you mean Peter Ball, not Peter Bull, a renowned actor.
Defamation of character.

trisher Mon 27-Jan-20 11:16:52

Sorry easybee typo, finger slip, or something apologies to anyone affected
Some of us can tickingbird others are so far up their own ass they can't!

Anniebach Mon 27-Jan-20 11:26:32

The race card yet again.

Most of the royal family have been slated in the press, Megan
Markle got off lightly.

Charles , Phillip, Andrew, Edward, Camilla, Fergie, Anne, Kate,
Sophie,The Queen. Princess Michael, Beatrice, Eugenie

trisher Mon 27-Jan-20 11:34:16

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

Anniebach Mon 27-Jan-20 11:40:25

Which newspaper has printed racist comments about Megan
Markle ?

Chestnut Mon 27-Jan-20 11:59:24

Exactly Anniebach but this is the core of the whole argument, those who say that any criticism of MM has a racist undertone. Most of us know it is because of her behaviour that the press has turned on her, nothing to do with her race.
