It looks as if Harry and Meghan really may have to make their own way in the world after all. Hopefully their new landlord will put his hand in his pocket if need be. He probably won’t miss the odd £billion.

I am surprised as I thought they would be given whatever they want to avoid any tell it as they see it documentaries.

Mimibunz Sun 19-Jan-20 11:05:23

Some of you are so bitter about a young couple making their own way and doing good in the world. Who knew GN was such a nest?

Anniebach Sun 19-Jan-20 11:07:28

Are they a young couple ? 38 and 35 years old

alanginsberg Sun 19-Jan-20 11:14:41

we have an indoor cat...hopefully he doesn't stand on a drawing pin

Spot on NotAGran55.
Couldn`t agree more.

SirChenjin Sun 19-Jan-20 11:22:04

Annie - I agree, but who knows, they might surprise us by closing the SussexRoyal brand (emphasis on the Royal for income generation purposes) and choosing to live a quiet life away from the trappings of the ‘toxic’ British RF (but not so toxic they won’t dine off it comfortably for the rest of their lives).

Anniebach Sun 19-Jan-20 11:24:55

SirChenjin living a quiet life whilst seeking the world stage ?

Not possible.

MM is bringing court case against her Dad and goodness knows what will come out in court. I am glad they are off and no longer going to be working royals so save embarrassment from Queen who at 93 and with sick dh really does not need that. Sad for PC that after walking MM down isle and forking out £30 million for cost of their wedding and refurbishing Frogmore Cottage that now he will hardly ever see Archie. He will continue to fund them £2.3 million per year from his Duchy of Cornwall income but when Queen dies and PC becomes king I hope William as new Prince of Wales stops it. M&H want to be financially independent we are told. That means not taking anymore handouts. I hope they have to pay own security cost as no longer working for Queen.

Nezumi65 Sun 19-Jan-20 11:31:17

Why will Prince Charles ‘hardly ever’ see Archie? I doubt either family has to save for a year to hop on a transatlantic flight.

Suspect Andrew will continue to dish out the embarrassment for a while yet.

newnanny Sun 19-Jan-20 11:32:41

I am so sick of hearing some say MM was target of racism. I read the papers a lot but have never heard any racist comments about MM. Can those who claim she was targeted tell us what these racist comments were as I must have missed them.

Well said newnanny

Nezumi

Do you honestly think that Meghan will allow Archie to travel to the UK?
Prince Charles will not be seeing much, if anything, of his grandchild Archie. Just the same as Archie’s other grandfather, who has never seen him, and in all likelihood, never will.

maddyone Sun 19-Jan-20 11:42:34

There’s a lot of new posters on the various H+M threads.
hmmhmmhmmhmmhmmhmmhmmhmm

Theoddbird Sun 19-Jan-20 11:44:10

Suziewoozie....I like your style...hahaha. I too get fed up of all the disecting that goes on....

Anniebach Sun 19-Jan-20 11:44:33

newnany according to several black women who have been
interviewed white people have subconscious racism .

As we know little of our subconscious it’s amazing they do.

Nezumi65 Sun 19-Jan-20 11:47:31

Why would Mehgan allow her son anywhere near her father?

I suspect Harry could bring him over if necessary. My kids lived in a different country from my in laws & my eldest was severely disabled. Limited contact (compared to my parents) & particularly with the great grandparents. That’s life, we all survived and visited as much as possible. Often my husband took the younger kids himself.

If you mean me maddyone I have been posting infrequently for years & get the roundup every day.

Pantglas2 Sun 19-Jan-20 11:49:43

Would it be racist of black people or people of colour to suggest that white people are subconsciously racist?

icanhandthemback Sun 19-Jan-20 11:50:08

All we know about this couple is what the press tell us. Apparently they couldn't be believed about Brexit but they can be believed about Harry and Meghan? I have never particularly warmed to Meghan but it surprises me that somebody who is so passionate about women's causes can invoke such hateful posts.
What surprised me about the press was all the talk about a person of colour entering the Royal Family blood line. So what? Why are we, in this supposedly enlightened age, even thinking about these things? She is just a person marrying another person if you aren't racist. Could anybody explain why they think there wasn't racist stuff out there when there was so much print about this issue? The language used about Meghan, her family, etc has been quite offensive compared to the so called "English Rose", Kate. But no, no
racism at all out there in the press.

Curlywhirly Sun 19-Jan-20 11:50:49

Wicklowwinnie, I only used the term mixed race, because I truly don't know what the correct/acceptable term for someone born to a black and white person is. I thought it was unacceptable to use the term coloured (things have changed so much in recent years, I would hate to unwittingly cause offence); I didn't use the term black, as Meghan is not black. Anyway, all I was trying to say was in no way does her parents' race/colour have anything to do with my opinion of her behaviour towards her family.

Nezumi65 Sun 19-Jan-20 11:55:26

The racism is most obvious when you compare the responses from the tabloids to Meghan doing exactly the same as Kate. See here for examples www.buzzfeednews.com/amphtml/ellievhall/meghan-markle-kate-middleton-double-standards-royal?utm_source=dynamic&bftwnews=&utm_term=4ldqpgc&__twitter_impression=true

Although I have seen some vile openly racist comments on various sites which I am not going to repeat.

Nezumi65 Sun 19-Jan-20 11:56:20

This piece from the NY Times is interesting on racism as well www.nytimes.com/2020/01/10/world/europe/harry-meghan-markle-racism.html

Nezumi65 Sun 19-Jan-20 11:59:50

And tbh I suspect that the NY Times is right and they needed to step away to protect their own mental health. The little bits I have seen showed someone who was struggling (& having seen the coverage I now understand why). Clearly that’s not unusual for women’s marrying into the Royal Family (see Diana and Fergie’s experiences). I hope it all works out for them.

suziewoozie Sun 19-Jan-20 12:03:04

Well maddy as some of the new posters are not singing from the GN Meghan Haters song sheet, I suppose you expect a plot! Rumbled - several of us have adopted multiple online identities and new email addresses and have joined GN to support her. I suppose you’ll report this post now the wicked plot has been unveiled.

ananimous Sun 19-Jan-20 12:03:14

People so bored with their own sad lives that they consistantly stalk a "boring" thread.

Sums them up. grin

No, I didn’t mean you Nezumi. I said a LOT of.......that’s plural.
