I don’t think it’s banal to want things to work out the best they can. You don’t know that they won’t either! There are a lot of mights, maybes, coulds around at present.

I agree, pulling together (especially if you have great concerns) sounds trite. But I honestly think aggressive denial of the new situation is worse for you and in general.

Perhaps something halfway would work for now? A ‘wait and watch’ approach without prophesies of gloom. After all, it might yet end up better than you fear.

I'm afraid you can't get away with making this sort of statement without backing it up. Many of us here could quickly find many articles with professional advice on the effect Brexit will have on the UK acquiring necessary, essential drugs and as well as isotopes for cancer treatment, etc.

So I do have to ask you to back up your statement with fact and published expert opinion on this matter. Please.

The experts were all unanimous in their concerns re drugs and isotopes- but you chose to ignore them for your own agenda. Now you have a gran here truly concerned about medication for her GS- with a condition where a change may well result in a disaster- and all you and others can say is 'fingers crossed- need to be kinder to each other- need to pull together' ...

And yes, it is exhausting to be angry all the time- but not as exhausting than for those who will be so directly affected as those with loved ones whose medical treatment is on the line. I can assure you.

I still just meet every remark I find offensive with an at least equally offensive one. I realised, long ago, that some people have no idea how offensive they are being.

They are of the mindset that "everyone", with the possible limit of "with common sense", "who is patriotic", "who isn't a communist", "who doesn't like having to prove their opinion has at least some truth in it" (delete or add where applicable) "thinks like me". This seems to make them feel they have carte blanche to say things they would not normally say to strangers.

We are already in the realms of you not wanting to help the process though, UG. You could set many people's minds at rest by letting us read the articles Jura questions but you are - perhaps too high and mighty in your day of what feels like a win to you? - to do so. I hope not but I am sure you do see you are adding to the challenges we face not helping them improve.

That is cheap and easy. I am not asking for reams of published expert advice on the whole Brexit thing- but on a very specific subject- the effect on access to medicines and isotopes.

So it should not take too long, really. You could make an effort- or you really should not make statements you can't back up. Especially not a a parents of a child with a severe condition that could be severely affected by a change in medication, or even worse, not having access.

Come on- you make the statement, it is only fair to ask you to back it up. Or we will have to come to our own conclusions...

And yes, it is offensive to tell someone to 'suck it up snowflake' - even if your say it in different words- the result is the same. But don't, really don't - ask us to rally round- we won't.

Does it not seem crazy to be in a position of saying, no one really knows what's going to happen but that we must 'wait and see', when we were doing very well as a significant partner in the largest trading bloc in the world? We knew exactly where we were.

Why plunge thousands of people into the unknown with a 'wait and see what happens'? Of course people are going to panic if they believe medical supplies are going to be unavailable, or the ones which are available are different and cause problems for the patient.

I'm still trying to work out what 'getting behind it to make it work' actually means for individuals and families. It's all in the hands of Messrs Johnson and Cummings, big business and of course the billionaires seeking to avoid scrutiny of their taxes under new EU rules. Never has the term 'laughing all the way to the bank' had greater significance.
