Sajid Javid has just resigned as Chancellor!

Julian Smith was behind the restoration of Stormont and did much for victims of historic abuse.

This is just one quote from BBC in NI:

"This is what Julian Smith did the night Stormont was restored - he hosted victims of historical abuse for a reception after helping them to get laws passed to provide long awaited compensation - he was the first SoS they said had listened to them properly"

And an other:

"Julian Smith sacked as NI SOS. After a string of people who were at best indifferent, at worst incompetent, the brit gov sent someone(likely accidentally)that was actually interested in the area, people, and who didnt buy into the whole "witch hunt of our boys card"

There are hundreds like that.

No role anywhere. Just a citizen outside of Belfast with his own opinion.

suziewoozie Thu 13-Feb-20 14:18:37

His view of JS will be shaped by his religious and political beliefs.

growstuff Thu 13-Feb-20 14:21:04

Whoever he is, he seems to be out of step with what many other people in NI are saying.

suziewoozie Thu 13-Feb-20 14:30:16

Yes * Urm* you got it wrong in a context where getting it right mattered. You were arguing on a totally false premise. Facts matter

All governments ' reshuffle'.

The only question is will the newly formed cabinet be successful.

The answer to that will never be ' yes ' if you harbour a dislike for the government at the time, the Conservatives in this instance, if you vote Conservative or are a floating voter the answer will be ' time will tell'.

Calendargirl Thu 13-Feb-20 14:38:18

suziewoozie who is LV?

suziewoozie Thu 13-Feb-20 14:45:58

LV in the context of the NI Secretary is obvious

suziewoozie Thu 13-Feb-20 14:58:54

Sorry Calendar it’s Leo Varadker -that was impolite if me

suziewoozie Thu 13-Feb-20 14:59:08

Of

annep1 Thu 13-Feb-20 14:59:35

I'm in NI. He was very active and genuinely interested in what he was doing. I don't know how anyone can say otherwise.

sw when I post something and it’s incorrect - instead of being sarcastic - why not be friendly and let me know what I’ve got wrong? It would also help others if, like me, they don’t know ‘it’ either.

suziewoozie Thu 13-Feb-20 15:10:51

Urm I did tell you at the time and you completely ignored my post - I can’t help it if you didn’t bother to read it, do get off your high horse.

GracesGranMK3 Thu 13-Feb-20 15:11:36

It will be interesting to see how the debt hysterics, who voted Boris in while he said all the things they wanted to hear, react when they realise he has got rid of a debt hysteric Chancellor in order to be able to invest - rather as the LP suggested in the last election.

I can imagine a few more grey hairs appearing on the heads of those who still believe in Ma Thatcher's handbag economics.

Remember this lot moaning about the EU being run by “unelected bureaucrats”. Ironic.

My first thoughts exactly!

suziewoozie Thu 13-Feb-20 15:45:47

The Twittersphere is highly amusing on the Shuffle. The new Attorney General, Suella Braverman, is described as making RLB look like an intellectual.

Urmstongran Thu 13-Feb-20 16:08:51

Apologies sw I’ve been in and out the last 3 days so I’ve obviously missed that of which you reference on a different thread. Sorry.

But now you’ve brought your annoyance over onto this thread. Shame that.

Urmstongran Thu 13-Feb-20 16:13:52

Well the pound against the euro has shot up!

suziewoozie Thu 13-Feb-20 16:26:16

The £ is like a fiddler’s elbow ( my gran would have said something much more crude?)

Urmstongran Thu 13-Feb-20 16:39:50

True sw but a boost for any holidaymakers in the short term - for half term anyway!

As for the reshuffle - even Stormzy would acknowledge this effort. Suella, Alok and Rishi replace Andrea, Esther and Geoffrey....To be more politically correct would be hard.

Calendargirl Thu 13-Feb-20 16:40:49

Thanks suziewoozie all I could think of was an insurance company!

growstuff Thu 13-Feb-20 16:50:25

Rishi replaced Sajid.

suziewoozie Thu 13-Feb-20 16:57:02

BJ politically correct?? ?

Fennel Thu 13-Feb-20 16:58:05

Urmston - I admire your persistence, Even though I'm at the other side of the fence politically.
To get to the truth we need to have opposing views, as many as possible.

Urmstongran Thu 13-Feb-20 17:28:33

I know growstuff but it scanned better my way.
?

Thanks Fennel I try my best ha!
