GagaJo so Prince Charles giving respect to other faiths shows he's not a Christian? You'd prefer he thought other faiths not worthy of defence? You haven't addressed my first post to you, but hey, if you wait long enough the thread will close and you'll have your excuse.

I defend other faiths, I have certainly defended the Jewish faith on this forum. But I am a Christian and a member of
The Church of Wales which is Anglican .

That is absolute rubbish! P. C was very anxious to make it clear that he would, when the time comes, be Defender of Faiths which of course includes the Christian Faith in all its different interpretations . This was made absolutely clear and done with complete sincerity not even remotely uncomfortably! Why else would he have made this declaration when he didn't have to.

I am assuming you mean people, and that many people who get married in church, don't have a faith.
People who don't have a real living faith don't generally bother to attend church, but people who do attend are certainly seeking one.

I can count on two fingers people I know who have active prayer lives and who live their lives by the scriptures.

Are you saying GagaJo that your family members have told you they go to Church but never pray? How very odd in my opinion. Personal experience can only ever be anecdotal, it really doesn't provide proof of a wider truth. Just as anyone who has a different experience of China, its people and traditions than you cannot claim that as indicative of the whole. In my admittedly limited personal experience, people go to Church not because they think they are good Christians but because they wish to be, and find support with like-minded people. I'd hazard a guess the same is true of the other major religions and their adherents.

I am interested in the RF. My Granny loved them and that has stayed with me. She was quite reverential and interested in their clothes and a little bit of information here and there.

I am interested in the Tzar and the family resemblances we see in Prince Michael of Kent.

I am sort of vaguely interested in why people despise Meghan.
I thought she was so elegant and full of vitality when she appeared. I wonder where it all went wrong.

I’m not at all sure what any of this has got to do with H+M except that before their marriage it was announced on national television that Meghan had been baptised and confirmed into the Church of England. It’s obvious why she went through with those two sacraments, it was so she could be married in church to Prince Henry, sixth in line to the throne. Whether or not she believed is not something anyone will ever know, but as it obviously had been presented as something she must do, she did it.
The rights and wrongs of the links of the church to the state is another question entirely and could be discussed on another thread. However as things stand it would have been a requirement that Meghan be both baptised and confirmed into the Church of England. Why? Because if Harry should ever become king (highly unlikely) then his wife as Queen Consort would need to be C of E. Nonetheless it does suggest that Harry did not wish to give up his position in the line of succession, otherwise he could have done so, and Meghan would no longer have needed to be C of E.

Yes I agree Maddyone , Harry seems to have given up a great deal for his wife but he is an adult and has made his choices.

I’m interested in the royals too, like you my relatives were interested in them. I follow them if they’re in the news, but I’m not obsessive and would never consider going to stand on the roadside or outside a hospital just to get a climpse of them. Nor would I read their online bloggs, or whatever they are ie SussexRoyal, now renamed I believe. Or the Cambridge’s one.
I also thought Meghan was full of vitality and energy when she first appeared. I enjoyed watching the wedding. It started to go wrong in my opinion when only her mother appeared at the wedding, no other family guests, but a church full of celebrities that it has been said neither Harry nor Meghan actually knew. And for me, the fact that Harry never met Meghan’s father, how on earth could he have thought that was the right thing to do? Given the royal family’s adherence to protocol, how could Harry have done that? It’s baffling. That’s where it started to go wrong I think.

You seem a tad obsessed with the Stepford Wife idea. Stepford Wives was a science fiction film donkeys years ago. It was complete rubbish and neither helpful nor relevant to the discussion.

I think I'm right in saying that brides wearing white was a tradition that began with Queen Victoria.

As an aside, I found the preacher at the wedding toe curling. I had to bail out and tidy my sock drawer. Cringe.

In some cultures white is the colour of mourning.
