It’s said as a precaution, not an emergency. I hope he recovers. Who will lead?

Well said.

It is what is known as having a common respect for understanding the value of ' the time and the place'.

Another analogy would be when someone tries to imply empathy or liking for something or someone and then throws in the curve ball of showing their true feeling by usung ' however' or ' but'.

Well said. I absolutely agree with you. We should all be wishing both Boris Johnson and anyone else who is suffering from this horrible disease, a speedy recovery.

Namsnanny Mon 06-Apr-20 17:18:14

Naming no names, but could some posters try thinking of others a little?

What ever the arguments are, about what this thread was intended for, use a bit of common and think of the posters who are genuinely worried about Boris health.

Start your own thread for discussions if you like.

Those who don't feel up to reading argy bargy at the moment can then choose.

Surely now is the moment to exercise some restraint, and think instead, in terms of consideration and kindness to those posting on Gnet, and put aside the need to discuss/argue/complain

Good post Grandad smile

Oh, that was quite telling - Dominc Raab has just said that he last spoke to the PM on Saturday.

Jellaway Mon 06-Apr-20 17:38:23

Me too. Constant criticism but how do you keep everyone safe but then their lives are destroyed anyway when the economy is so damaged. Such a difficult thing. I admire him and he is not deciding himself. There are many MP’s making group decisions. Hope he recovers soon.

GrannyLaine Mon 06-Apr-20 17:40:32

I do wish the political editors at the briefing would get their act together and NOT all ask the same question which had been adequately answered first time round.

BoBo53 Mon 06-Apr-20 18:44:31

Wishing our Prime Minister a swift and full recovery. Rest and get well soon Sir!

katie1 Mon 06-Apr-20 18:59:37

I hope Boris gets well soon. I feel sorry for him, he was elected, dealt with the headache of Brexit, became engaged and his fiancé is expecting their baby in early summer. I think he has shown leadership in that he is instructing the country on how to deal with this virus, and is making sure we are all briefed every day. Get well soon.

Posters asked several times for News and Politics to be split but it didn't happen.
So News may not always be Political, even when involving politicians ifyswim

TrendyNannie6 Mon 06-Apr-20 19:25:10

I wouldn’t wish anyone this horrendous virus.

vegansrock Mon 06-Apr-20 19:26:10

Sirryvbut why are others attacking posters and assuming their good wishes are not “genuine”? Who decides that? Just because we dislike his politics doesn’t mean we don’t wish him a speedy recovery.

Just announced - Boris Johnson, who has coronavirus, has been taken to intensive care

Oh no, this looks serious.

Grandad1943 Mon 06-Apr-20 20:19:40

Just reported, Boris Johnson has been moved into intensive care at the St Thomas Hospital London.

craftyone Mon 06-Apr-20 20:24:21

oh no

Curlywhirly Mon 06-Apr-20 20:25:46

This is getting scary now, he's not old and doesn't, as far as we know, have a previous health condition. My auntie died today of corona virus - granted she was 92 and had underlying problems, but it's all getting to be overehelming.

Curlywhirly Mon 06-Apr-20 20:27:10

*overwhelming

POGS Mon 06-Apr-20 20:31:00

Things are looking certainly extremely precarious not only for him a d his family but the country also.

Grammaretto Mon 06-Apr-20 20:31:44

God awful news. So much pain and heartache.

Ellianne Mon 06-Apr-20 21:03:34

Oh no. Is that in case he needs to go on a ventilator?

Greymar Mon 06-Apr-20 21:06:39

POGS, agree. Of course nobody wishes him or his family anything other than good health. But what now for the country?

paddyanne Mon 06-Apr-20 21:08:39

so much overeaction ! Honestly ,he a politician , he's been PM for 4 thats FOUR months ,he's not a member of your family.Of course we wish him well but dont go down the professional mourning path I dont understand people who behave as if anyone they dont personally know being ill or dying is the end of the world.
Didn't see this level of sympathy for the wife who had cancer when he walked out on her.I hope he doesn't die ,not because I have even a speck of respect or admiration for him
just simple humanity.Frankly he's an eegit and being sick doesn't change that

tinaf1 Mon 06-Apr-20 21:16:50

Nice one Paddyanne angry feel better now

merlotgran Mon 06-Apr-20 21:36:02

It's not an overreaction, paddyanne, more like a feeling of shock because any leader/figurehead, whatever, is not supposed to be a fallen leader whether or not you like him or his politics.

These are seriously scary times for all of us so it's natural to be upset and concerned.

Jaberwok Mon 06-Apr-20 21:36:59

Actually Paddyanne, Boris and his wife split up four month before the smear test that indicated her cancer, but don't let the truth spoil a good story! On the subject of eegits. Scotland's chief medical officer surely qualifies?!!

SueDonim Mon 06-Apr-20 21:39:00

Your post of 21.08 certainly shows you for what you are,*Paddyanne*.
