Well this is the last day before parliament goes into recession and as a Labour supporter, I am very heartened indeed by the new leaders start. The link is to an article about the two leaders success or failures at the despatch box.

Where are the Tory supporters who seem shy in defending the government?
(204 Posts)Over the Russia report
Tory corruption
No protection for the NHS
No protection for our food standards
No Parliamentary scrutiny of any trade deal.
I’m sure some must think it’s all excellent?

Whitewavemark2 Your comments about Conservative voters are only to be expected from someone as lacking in principles as you.
Sorry to butt In but in what way is whitewave lacking in principles please ? I think an accusation like that needs backing up.
When will all these working class people who voted Tory come to their senses? Why on earth did they think the Tories would do anything for them? Tories are only interested in the elite not the shop worker, the postman or the factory worker for example. Trouble is the working class have become a little more affluent and they think their status is a little higher so they vote Tory. Idiots!

The Tories did do something for them. They delivered Get Brexit Done! I believe the GE was a Brexit election. Promises of money to the NHS, Take Back Control, promises to stop EU immigrants taking our jobs were all that was needed for many working class people to vote Tory. They didn't need/want to know more.
Will they come to their senses? I'm afraid I think it could become rather nasty when they do.

Dead maybe - or they've (finally) realised that the people they voted for were quite willing to sacrifice them during the pandemic?
Just as an opinion:
I have noticed that "the usual suspects", when on anything but polical threads are really nice people. But, suddenly become the Incredible Hulk when on polical threads, or dare I say Incredible Sulks.
Just saying!
What short memories you have, those that say the Conservatives do not support the workers. They have just supported those that were furloughed.
And no Hetty58 we are not dead because we were sensible enough to follow the Government guidelines.

Yes. Works both ways.
When the only reply from Conservative voters is that they don't engage because the OP wasn't phrased properly or they don't like the OP you realise that they are totally unable to post anything good about this government. A government which seem to be based on the concept that they will say anything but do the opposite. So they assert that there is protection in law already for the NHS and food but defeat an amendment which woud have made this absolutely clear. If there is the provision they claim they could have abstained or permitted a free vote. But if someone can explain exactly why they had to defeat the amendment I would be interested.
No comment about furloughing I notice, no comment about calling out China 's flagrant disregard for the HongKong treaty, the origin of this virus, and of course the appalling treatment of Chinese Muslims. Heartless government indeed!

Exactly grannyrebel7. I have a lovely friend, voted Tory. Volunteers to work in a food bank and decries the rise in poverty and hunger over the last few years. NEVER links her vote with the social deprivation in her area even though she's an older lady and lives in an area decimated by Thatcher.
I don't like to ask if she voted Tory in the 1980s too.
Definitely a case of empowered new clothes...

Furlough: The Government implemented a furlough scheme similar to that of many other nations. They had no choice.
China: The following countries have critized China: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK.
Probably got more sense than be a target for Tory bashing
As Ive said before on this forum, all sensible posts are derailed by far left views, so I don't bother.

I disagree. As I see it Conservative supporters come up against strong opposition that’s all, it doesn’t mean thread is derailed nor that the opposing posters are “far left “. For example I think the present government are doing an appalling job but I can absolutely assure you I am not far left having voted Lib Dem forever.
Oh for goodness sake, it's not just the far left derailing threads, I think there are plenty derailing comments made by the far right too!
I think the current government is so far right that anyone slightly left of centre (which, IMO most people opposed to this government seem to be) are now regarded as extremists.

Au contraire. I think that some of the decisions made by some of the cabinet have been very good and are to be supported, you see I know the difference between slavish devotion to or hatred of a party and consideration of how they are performing in office. This current shambles are unfit to govern, many should be prosecuted, and I would day the same if they were a Labour administration.
GillT57 me too. I can't understand why some people show such slavish devotion to their party. There is no shame in supporting a party, and being able to recognise and criticise when they make a bad decision. I wasn't happy that at yesterday's PMQT Keir Starmer didn't mention the defeat of the Amendments regarding animal welfare and protecting the NHS in a US trade deal, big mistake. Whoever you support, there will always be some decision that are unpopular and you don't agree with, there is no need to try and defend the indefensible - you are kidding nobody.
The tragedy is that we seem to have no way of removing the traitors who may be in government for the next four years and are intent on ruining the country to enrich themselves and their kind.
Sparkling - could you kindly give this newcomer an example of a 'sensible comment' about the performance of this Government? I find it hard to imagine, somehow.
Oh dear. I suspect most supporters of the government are sensibly keeping their heads well down!
I would be really interested to discover which 'far left' views Sparkling is referring to
I am a Socialist, that doesn't make me far left, it makes me left of centre
This Government is 'far right ', powered by the ERG. Traditional Tories have been turfed out to accommodate them
I would be interested in a genuine discussion with Conservative voters, who are happy to support them and their dogma
Are you comfortable with DC's input? Is this really what you voted for?
Do you support the voting down of the amendment to protect the NHS?
Would you still have voted for them, if in hindsight, you had known all this would transpire?
