Not acceptable Furret.
This does not add anything to the debate. It’s the kind of comment you would expect from someone who is illiterate and poorly informed.

Is Boris going to resign ?
(225 Posts)Is Boris Johnson planning to retire as U.K. prime minister in six months?
That’s the eye-catching claim in the Times, which cited a conversation one of its readers had with the father-in-law of Dominic Cummings, Johnson’s chief adviser.
According to the newspaper’s Diary column, Humphry Wakefield chatted to Times reader Anna Silverman when she visited his castle in northeast England last week. Johnson, Wakefield is reported to have said, is still suffering the after-effects of his coronavirus infection and will never fully recover, and therefore plans to resign early next year.
With the U.K. ever fully recover from the unholy alliance of BoJo and DomCum though?

Rosalyn he didn't sleep IN the tent,it was just a PR prop ,he slept in the house they had rented for 3 nights ...and he stayed for 3 nights.he wasn't chased away by "stalkers£ despite what the media said.the good people of Applecross kept well away from him and his 8 thats EIGHT security staff made sure he was safe .
Was he really, truly, there at all, paddyanne?
And do we care anyway?
The tent was apparently there as somewhere to look out over the loch probably to gain a semblance of privacy. Can’t be easy being tagged by all the security but part of the job.
Body shaming - totally unacceptable especially under the circumstances but not too surprising from that particular OP. NPOW.
Political leanings aside, I can’t help wondering if anyone else would have coped any better — Brexit, floods, COVID, riots.... I doubt any other PM has had so much landed on them so quickly and then to catch the wretched virus himself. No wonder he does not look well.
Any PM we've had ever since I was born could have done better.
For a start, they wouldn't have kept on nipping off on holiday; they would have appointed a cabinet of competent ministers on merit, not on their adherence to a single issue and, they wouldn't have gone round shaking hands with people when the whole nation had been explicitly advised not to. No other bugger in the UK was shaking hands with people at that time...
Why do people have such unbelievably low expectations of a Prime Minister?
I think that he will resign. Brexit done. Leave someone who to sort out the unholy mess.
Somebody spoke to someone who said somebody they knew spoke to a holidaymaker who reckoned.......
And then somebody said something in a post in some thread or other somewhere that she thought she heard somebody's sister's wife's father say .....
?
No surprise if once Britain leaves the EU without a deal Boris resigns.

Stand, any of the present members of government and House of Commons, alongside Winston Churchill and there maybe the glaring
Measure any of the present day government and members of the House of Commons/Lords alongside Winston Churchill! But even he a imperfect human being like the rest of us.
Sorry, sparklingsilver, not trying to be funny but your post above doesn't make any sense at all.
Oh dear, one comment and I am immediately corrected. I may be wrong but goodness me I don’t need telling off like I’m a schoolgirl.
This can be very demoralising forum indeed.
It's definitely not the forum for you, Rosalyn, if you think that someone perfectly politely pointing out your mistake is 'telling you off'. Because everyone does it all the time on this forum.
'Telling you off' is when they start telling you that your tone is wrong, or your language is wrong, or what you've said is uncalled for or particularly horrible.
Sorry...

If that was me I apologise, Rosalyn. I thought I was polite but factual.
There was indeed a tent but I think they were staying in a cottage. Of course, Carrie could have made Boris sleep in the tent, especially if he snores.
I think we've all been waiting to see Boris step up to the challenge of this job, believers and non believers alike. I don't think he's capable nor do I think he's well. The two may or may not be connected. If he does resign though, no doubt it will be on health grounds...

Or you're a "leftie" or a "remoaner", so obviously not worthy of writing anything ...

He was a fat slob even before he caught the virus.
This is the kind of informed thinking I joined GN to read.

I can't be doing with Boris at all and, to some extent, wish he would just resign and stop pussyfooting around, pretending he knows what he's doing.
But furret your post He was a fat slob even before he caught the virus. is beneath you. You used to be capable of having an informed debate; not having to sink into ugly personal insults to illustrate your point of view, what a pity you lost that ability. If one of the male GN members had made such a post about one of our femail ministers, you'd have been the first to have called them out on their misogyny.
Is he going to opt out? probably. When is the next election due? (2024?)
When will he have finally achieved Brexit?
Is Gove the only one left standing? ie has he not had the virus?
Boris is looking quite slim in the camping photos.
The tabloids have to have something to fill their pages with. They must get a bit bored with celebs and footballers.

Maybe he does have hidden talents, but on the evidence, I think you're right. I don't think he's capable. He has some particularly nasty and vitriolic backbenchers who even think he's too soft!
Not only has his government not shown basic competence, but I don't think he has the political skill to keep the party together. He has all the "borrowed" votes who will want to see some reward before too long.
By appointing only yes men and women to his cabinet, there's a real dearth of talent to cover up for his own failings.
My hunch is that you're right about the reason for resignation, if there is one.
He might try to appeal to the "people" to save him, but he's lost his once overwhelming popularity.
PS. I think some people in the Conservative Party are already lining up their sights.
I'm not a Tory fan but I wouldn't like to be PM at the moment.
I too wouldn't call anyone a fat slob...
