Is Boris going to resign ?

Is Boris Johnson planning to retire as U.K. prime minister in six months?
That’s the eye-catching claim in the Times, which cited a conversation one of its readers had with the father-in-law of Dominic Cummings, Johnson’s chief adviser.
According to the newspaper’s Diary column, Humphry Wakefield chatted to Times reader Anna Silverman when she visited his castle in northeast England last week. Johnson, Wakefield is reported to have said, is still suffering the after-effects of his coronavirus infection and will never fully recover, and therefore plans to resign early next year.

With the U.K. ever fully recover from the unholy alliance of BoJo and DomCum though?

Possibly meant to be “grovel “?

The irony is that they have nothing positive to say, so all they can do is resort to insulting people an sneering. They cannot accept that intelligent people won't let themselves be brainwashed.

growstuff Suggest you replace intelligent for indoctrinated !!

That doesn't make any sense!

Indocrinated people are precisely the ones who are brainwashed. The two words are synonymous.

In any case, this seems to be another thread which has been derailed. Scrolling back, it's possible to see how that's happened and who was responsible.

That holiday home might have been mine. We were instructed to pitch a tent with a strong light inside so that local gossips could speculate on the identity of the evening occupants, we had to rent babies of various sizes so that dates couldn't be proven if photos were taken and we had to employ various cleaners and instruct them to tell differing stories in the local pub so that all sides could leak the story of their choice.

Thank you MaizieD I thought it was quite witty too.

Where did the original post come from?

This thread doesn't make sense.

janpt why do you think anyone who criticises Johnson is a Labour supporter? stop making sweeping generalisations.
can you not criticise Johnson for anything?

Very true! One of the mothers of one of my students is about as Conservative as one could be. At one point, she even worked for CCHQ.

I have been tutoring her son for a while and I'm very familiar with her political views. She always wants a chat after out Zoom lesson and I nearly fell off my chair a couple of weeks ago, when she said that really wouldn't be able to vote Conservative with Johnson in charge. She didn't have anything good to say about any of the current cabinet ministers.

growstuff That's just one persons warped opinion.

Janpt will you please try to behave like a grown up and stop lowering the tone of debate. Suggesting to someone that ‘your comment really shows you up to be Labour’ is unintelligible and suggesting that people holding a different opinion to yourself are unintelligent is simply not acceptable.

This made me laugh?
After the lowering the tone of debate on this thread and acting like a grown up ( not!) that you showed in your deleted comments earlier perhaps Furret.
I don’t think Janpt has much to worry about.?

What deleted comments do you mean?

She is indeed just one person. Whether her opinion is warped or not is also the opinion of one person. If you were to meet the person concerned and accuse her of being warped, I think you'd find yourself running away with your tail between your legs. grin

The reason I mentioned her (and I know it's anecdotal) was because she is one of the most Conservative (in all senses) person I think I've ever met. Before the 2019 GE, her garden and surrounding fields hosted many blue banners and she wouldn't have heard one word against the Conservatives or Johnson.

She's still Conservative to the core, but she is concerned that Johnson's declining popularity will be a vote loser. She certainly hopes Johnson will resign, although doesn't know who could take over.

Prepared to snivel Whitewave ? That word used in the sentence doesn’t make any sense.....who wrote it?

Me? - but it makes sense to me?

Probably for the first time in my life, I agree with Alastair Campbell. Things must be bad.

Yes, that would make sense....is that what you meant WW?

lemongrove Fri 28-Aug-20 16:50:11

WW I think posters imagined I was being awful to you in my post asking ‘prepared to snivel whitewave?’ When I was merely asking you a question pertaining to a word you had used.Although we don’t like ‘quote abuse’ it does show that using the quote facility makes things crystal clear what we are replying to.

We are working our way through the political satire series The Thick Of It at the moment, I recommend it for some (political) light relief.?

AGAA4 Fri 28-Aug-20 17:01:29

I think Boris should resign as soon as he can as it seems obvious to me that he is not a well man. Whether you like him or not the burdens that the UK are under at the moment would test the strength of someone much fitter than him.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 28-Aug-20 17:28:13

Anyone hear Hancock say that he was going to change the law so that nurses and pharmacists would be able to administer vaccination?

God save us from such idiots!

Goodness me those on GN who have been up in arms Because somebody wrote FFS would faint listening to The thick of it !!

If I recall rightly, the person who recommended 'In the Thick of It' was one of the pearl clutchers...

(If you weren't, lg, I apologise before the snippy response)

maddyone Fri 28-Aug-20 18:46:06

I don’t understand. Nurses already administer vaccines, every year during flu vaccination time. So do pharmacists, you can walk into Boots and other chemists during flu vaccination season, pay £10 and the pharmacist vaccinates you.
And of course, nurses give injections all the time in hospitals. I have been vaccinated by a nurse many times. What’s all the fuss about?

Callistemon Fri 28-Aug-20 18:59:25

Perhaps Matt Hancock didn't realise that nurses and pharmacists already do this.

Pharmacy technicians are not on the list of health professionals who can supply or administer a medicine under patients group directions (PGD), which is operated by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency and includes pharmacists.
The Government is developing a policy to expand the number of healthcare professionals who can give vaccines as part of its COVID-19 response.

A 2 month old story slightly amended as sometimes happens when it is third or fourth hand.

It was third or forth hand, it was straight out of the horses mouth.

Callistemon Fri 28-Aug-20 19:10:00

But it was reported over two months ago so has been knocking around for a while now.

Is this old news now new news? iyswim.

maddyone Fri 28-Aug-20 19:22:29

I’m not surprised you’re laughing Whitewave, you couldn’t make it up! How can he possibly not know nurses already do vaccinations?

If pharmacists are not allowed to do vaccinations, who does do the vaccinations advertised by Boots and other chemists every Autumn? Nearly every chemist shop has a notice in the window in Autumn, offering walk in flu vaccinations. Anyone know the answer? I’m puzzled now.

Callistemon Fri 28-Aug-20 19:29:52

Do you have a link to the latest news reports, please Whitewave?

All I could find was an old one.

Anyone legally entitled to administer vaccinations also has to be fully trained in anaphylaxis management.
