And it says she called for Dominic Cummings' resignation, you couldn't make it up!

Our daughter (full time teacher) and her husband (self employed) both felt ropey with high temperatures, loss of taste and smell, headache, aching muscles. They both went for a Covid test today. Results tomorrow. Daughter just rung me, children and husband in bed. She will work from home tomorrow whilst waiting for test result. Husband will just have to stay home with no pay.

That’s how it’s done properly.

Best wishes to your family ug and hope the results are negative.

Hope alls well with your Dd and sil urmstongran .? They have done what should be done not like these people who think they are above all that they should lose their job and have a big fine .

Why is it that when MPs do something wrong like this, they always try to excuse it as a 'mistake'. I always thought a mistake was something done accidentally, not a deliberate, arrogant act!

Well said Willow.

It’s not just MPs though is it? It’s the classic excuse for ‘I got caught’

"the Ferrier thing"?? I'm hoping that's a typo....

Jaberwok Fri 02-Oct-20 22:36:41

I expect she thought her test would prove negative particularly as she felt better. When it was positive I expect she panicked and blindly made off back to her home asap without stopping to think, thus making the situation a hundred times worse! Extremely foolish but I doubt malicious.

suziewoozie Fri 02-Oct-20 22:42:19

Well actually she got the result Monday night and didn’t leave until Tuesday. Plenty of time to come up with a solution that didn’t endanger potentially dozens of other people.

MissAdventure Fri 02-Oct-20 22:52:36

Let's hope that is all there is to it, unlike Cummings, with extra transgressions.

suziewoozie Fri 02-Oct-20 22:56:03

Cummings didn’t do anything wrong at all -we all know that and anyway, his puppet Johnson told us so.

SueDonim Fri 02-Oct-20 23:19:23

Maybe Ms Ferrier is looking to the example of the MSP Derek Mackay in the hopes of hanging onto her seat. He’s still claiming expenses.

@Alegrias "the Ferrier thing" what a disgusting way to refer to any woman.

Washerwoman Sat 03-Oct-20 05:39:23

Even before Cummings I was cross that Stepthen Kinnock drove all the way from Wales to London to see his parents as we were all at that point being advised to exercise from home and not to make any unnecessary journeys. But this latest one by Margaret Ferrier is by far the worst, travelling by train twice and potentially infecting hundreds. And not isolating and waiting for her test result .She should have resigned immediately.

You realise, do you, Sing19, that it wasn't me who referred to her that way? That I was pointing out that another poster had used that phrase and I'm hoping she didn't write that intentionally? Because it's obviously unacceptable?

I think you're right Jaberwok, that sounds very likely.

LullyDully Sat 03-Oct-20 08:22:48

Is there a monetary fine for such bad behaviour? A fine for everything else. She should have sought advice to be honest, rather than travel to and from London. After 6 odd months no one is under any illusions about how deadly this can be for some people. No excuse.

Lucca Sat 03-Oct-20 08:30:04

I read that fines are not to be issued to corbyn or Johnson snr as police prefer it to be last resort. What’s the point of saying there will be fines then? We may well be a freedom loving nation but surely desperate times call for desperate measures?

Jaberwok Sat 03-Oct-20 10:16:25

Not only that, no doubt this lady used a taxi or public transport to travel to the train station, again on arriving in London to travel to the H of C, and yet again when returning to the train station to go back to Scotland, and finally from the station to her home, unless she could walk or use bike! Even then you risk contact with other people!! All in all, foolish, and that's being kind!!!!

Wheniwasyourage Sat 03-Oct-20 11:51:19

First let me repeat that I think Margaret Ferrier was completely wrong and should resign. Then, can I point out that while on another thread we are urged to wish Donald Trump well now that he has tested positive, there seems to be no sympathy nor good wishes for this woman who has also tested positive?

I cannot believe, however careless she has been, that she can have directly infected as many people as DT has been responsible for indirectly.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 03-Oct-20 12:10:25

If is being reported in the Scottish Press that the day she had her test she also went to the gym, a beauty salon and a gift shop!!!!

Totally irresponsible behaviour.

I wish her a speedy recovery with hopefully no long lasting effects.

Nannan2 Sat 03-Oct-20 12:20:40

Whats this about a whip? Why cant they just sack her? I dont get that.

Nannan2 Sat 03-Oct-20 12:24:43

Police not fining such as them? Yet some £1000 fines were issued to 'normal' folk who had not isolated after returning from holiday? But the MP's & boris' father can most probably afford this fine! Ridiculous!?

Ilovecheese Sat 03-Oct-20 12:26:27

She can't be sacked. MPs are elected and self employed, so don't have an employer to sack them.

They should behave honourably though, to deserve the title of honourable member.

Nannan2 Sat 03-Oct-20 12:29:11

This idiot of a woman could easily have rung H of C's & explained why she wouldnt be coming and im sure a representative of some sort could have been found to read out whatever she was speaking about when it showed her on tv.

Nannan2 Sat 03-Oct-20 12:30:29

Well not sacked then, but asked to stand down then surely?!

Nannan2 Sat 03-Oct-20 12:31:53

How many folk are actually going to vote her in again next time, after this??
