Can I ask what the GN leave voters think about this without the thread descending into vitriol please?

GrannyGravy13 Mon 19-Oct-20 20:49:11

I think it’s called jealousy Urmstongran

vegansrock Mon 19-Oct-20 20:59:34

Jealousy ? Of whom? someone who refuses to acknowledge any downsides of leaving the EU? Ok, it’s all going to be marvellous......

biba70 Mon 19-Oct-20 21:06:30

if only you knew where I am right now- GG13 lol. But legally, all above board.

Mind you, I suppose Urmstrong might as well make the best of those loopholes she despises for others, but enjoy or herself. Because she won't be able to next year - and she vted for it.

“Never in my Parliamentary experience have I witnessed such a collapse in the people’s trust.”

That is a warning.

Johnson will be too stupid – or too selfish – to take it.

@Andrew_Adonis
Betty Boothroyd excoriating Johnson in the House of Lords just now. ‘I was a girl in the 1930s. I saw the poverty & unemployment. So I am alarmed when ministers talk of businesses being unprepared for this dramatic change - when it is the government’s own fault’

I see the Tesco boss is warning of fresh food shortage for months in the new year.

Oh joy - on top of everything else we go and do this to ourselves!

The psychologists must be having a field day.

Oh good lord
That will start some panicking

Jaberwok Mon 19-Oct-20 21:45:03

Urm, I think the goaders need firmly ignoring! As for Spain! Once was enough!!!

I don't think that the government gives a tinker's cuss for anyone's fears and worries, let alone respected parliamentarians. They are not actually interested in governing the country for the benefit of its citizens, just in creating their nasty narrow minded fantasies of how a country should be run and making sure that they and their cronies extract maximum financial benefit from being let loose on the UK's piggy bank.

They have no regard whatsoever for the constitution and the rule of law as they have discovered that the first is completely toothless and the second can be violated with impunity and (ironically) legislated against.

I wish I could believe that justice will catch up with them some day...

brace, brace - this winter will be like no other ever

the combo of Covid + No Deal was never on the cards. Many of us knew that 'project fear' was indeed 'project reality' - but none of us could foresee that Covid would be added.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 20-Oct-20 08:48:05

I don’t think we have the slightest idea as to how unprepared the U.K. is for January 1st.

Yesterday May asked Michael Gove about policing and National Security post January.

He lied of course, saying we will do better without the knowledge and assistance we currently get from the EU.

May’s reaction was one of astonishment.

JenniferEccles Tue 20-Oct-20 08:53:11

I tell you what- shall we all agree with the ‘we are all doooomed’ scenario to put paid to all these incredibly predictable and tediously negative threads once and for all?

MayBee70 Tue 20-Oct-20 08:58:31

Ok: so, instead of making a joke of it tell me something positive about what’s happening.....

You have the answer in your hands.

Simples— don’t read them.

I see that the lorry parks are littered with bottles of urine, and worse, because there are no porta-loos.

NannyJan53 Tue 20-Oct-20 09:02:24

Sadly there is nothing positive that I can forsee. Boris may have said he had an 'oven ready deal', he never said he had an oven though!

I’m feeling yuck today so maybe that’s why I don’t understand the “Spain once was enough” comment ? What do you mean ? Genuine question

PECS Tue 20-Oct-20 09:19:11

Ok .. so if the pro divorce lobby want to cheer up the thread then please do!
List 2 or 3 things that you know( & have evidence to back up) will make everday life better for most people come January once the ' oven ready' deal is served.. frozen, hot, cold or burned to a cinder!

They haven’t a clue. Never have had.

Services are of course one of biggest contributors to the GDP.

Has anyone any idea how that is progressing vis a vis the EU?

?
I think it would be easier all round Jennifer as the threads are like Groundhog Day.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 20-Oct-20 09:31:29

So does anyone have any idea whether the talks have resumed?

Gove at the despatch box praised the constructive move by the EU, seemed to perform a u-turn after he had said the talks had ended.

I’m not sure now whether they have resumed or not.

I thought for a split second that you had posted a positive to come out of brexit.

I should have known better?????

biba70 Tue 20-Oct-20 09:38:08

ah how drôle of you two - I remember when I pposted about predictions re medicines shortages- I was told I was so insensitive as some grans here were poorly or had family who were, and it was so unfair to scare them re medicines and isotope shortages. So you two happy clappy funny ahahs - can you assure us all that this won't be the case?

Never mind the shortages of everything else, huge price rises in goods, services and utlities... and on and on - Ariston.

Grany Tue 20-Oct-20 09:46:23

MaizieD I agree with you.

The question is What is our Head of State doing or should be doing to put a stop to this governments criminal behaviour?

Absolutely Nothing Not a thing

That's the thing when a government goes rogue a monarch as Head of State can't intervene, let's them get on with ruining the country. Does as she is asked by PM.

I think Jo Maugham Lawer is collecting lists evidence of this government awarding contracts without tender and other wrong doing. So there are some good people who will stand up to this government.

Jaberwok Tue 20-Oct-20 09:48:00

Honestly Lemon.el al, just ignore these people or better still agree!!!! If you say so comes to mind!! As for Spain ? One visit was enough to make me never to want to go there again! Is that clear. or is more explanation needed?!

PECS Tue 20-Oct-20 09:48:53

So lemon what will be better, come Jan 31st, for me & you, as a direct result of the divorce from the EU?

ayse Tue 20-Oct-20 09:48:57

Firstly, I haven’t read the whole thread.

Secondly I’ve just heard on LBC that Boris has refused to reopen talks. I can’t help thinking that there is a hidden agenda here! I know that conspiracy theories are about and I don’t necessarily subscribe to them BUT it seems our government is descending into government by decree.

I have no respect at all for Tory members of parliament who criticise but do not take any positive action to prevent this government’s outrageous behaviour.

The government is rushing headlong into impoverishing huge numbers of people and I suspect the majority have no idea how difficult life may be in the future.

As an aside, I heard a professional photographer (and others) on LBC yesterday, talking about their unemployment experiences and finally realising that Universal Credit did not provide the safety net they were expecting.

No Deal and Covid are cooking the goose very effectively for vast numbers of our population.

The whole situation is frightening and we all know what happened in Germany prior to WW2. Truly scary times.
